Submitted by BlueCube on

Graham Glasgow pleads guilty to a lesser charge of Operating while Visibly Impaired which is a misdemeanor with a potential penalty of 93 days in jail and a $350 fine. He will be sentenced July 14.

He admitted to drinking 10-12 beers and taking a hour and a half nap before driving to get a pizza.

As I'm sure Graham is, I'll be glad when this is all done and over with. What's he likely to be sentenced with? Probation and the $350 fine?

He could still drive better than elderly or 16 year olds on the road. Hindsight though maybe just get delivery next time. That pizza just got real expensive.

Assuming the whole "1.5 hour nap" thing is legit (and assuming that he did all his drinking within 30 minutes before the nap), the dude would have had to consumed about 12 drinks  or so to get to that high of a BAC (more if he spread it out over a longer period).  I get that he's a big dude, but 12 drinks than driving is inexcusible.  And to say that he's a better driver than an 80 year old is stupid.  Might he be? Maybe.  But the guy still got pulled over for doing something wrong, so he probably wasn't driving very well.

body mass. tolerance. while a blood test, or a breathalyzer will show intoxication. not everyone has the same body size, or tolerance levels to alcohol. you could put a 6 foot 5 300 lbs man that has been drinking beer regularly for years next to a 5 foot 8 160lbs 16 year old that has never had an alcoholic drink in their life. and i will put money on the big guy looking at least half way sober after 10 beers while the 16 year old passed out after 7.

regaurdless.. drinking and driving is never a good idea.

Of all the places to get pizza in Ann Arbor, why pick one you have to drive to? And it's not like pizza places don't deliver, either...

Stupid kid, stupid choice, he's lucky to get off this lightly.

It's also possible that he wasn't really headed out to get pizza, but headed back to a bar or somewhere else.  He wouldn't be the first person to reimagine the reason for his driving intoxicated when standing before the judge at sentencing.

To be clear, I agree that his decision to drive was a stupid choice (I'm not there on the "stupid kid" part, since if one stupid decision makes you stupid then I and most of my friends are really really stupid).

Anyway, if Glasgow makes good decisions moving forward re: driving and alcohol (and texting, etc.) then this unfortunate event will turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

I just noticed something that looks odd to me:

"On Monday, he admitted to registering a blood alcohol content of .11 at the scene of his arrest before blowing a .13 at the police station."

I mean how is that even possible?  Was he continuing to drink beers during his arrest?

one is called a 'PBT' and is a handheld device that you blow into at the scene most times.  it is less accurate as it uses what's called 'fuel cell' technology.    when someone goes to the station they take what is more commonly called the 'datamaster' (now they call it a DMT).   you could guess a 1/2 hour to 1 hour time lag is fairly normal.

In Oregon all DUIIs are misdemeanors until your 3rd DUII in a 10 year span.  In most cases, if the driver completes a diversion course and does not get another DUII for 10 years that first one is completely taken off youre criminal history and driving record.  Most DUII cases are cite nd release with no jail time at all.

HE consumes 10-12 Dos Equis in the morning before even getting out of bed.  Pizza's deliver themselves to HIS car.  A moon begged to shine out HIS open car tailgate.  HIS blood registered the alcohol content and decisively, not the machine.  The hottie in the car will plead HIM to the most reduced sentence in history, in five different languages, and the court will cut a gynormous refund check.  He is the most interesting man in the world.

Next please, move along, move along, nothing to see here.  (sigh)

Wait a minute, I thought "Graham Glasgow is the new Taylor Lewan (in a good way)"?

Seems like he's working on becoming the new Taylor Lewan in a bad way as well.

I'll keep my thoughts on Lewan to myself, but the fact that you have to put (in a good way) behind it is never a good thing.

I hope Glasgow learns from all of this and everyone can move on. I hope the team is never divided again like it has been reported by both players and coaches.

If you want to go be a college student, I have no problem man...that's what 99% of us are and many of us had a BLAST. If you think I didn't have a great time, live it up, drink it up, and do some STUPID ass shit --- you're mistaken. However, I didn't play D1 football at Michigan...and had I done so, I would've learned that it is a choice I'm making (especially as a walk-on) and I have to accept the responsibilities that come with it. If I don't like it, if I can't abide by it, no worries.

Here's to '14-'15 and for me, leaving '13-'14 in the past...because for me, it was a disaster for more than what we saw on the field. But that's just me.

You can be a college kid and do dumb stuff without putting people's lives in jeopardy. It sounds like you're saying "if you're not a student-athlete" feel free to drink and drive.

Sure, go out and get shitfaced and explore the possibilities of life and irresponsibility, but know where to draw the line.
