"MarQueis [Gray, the Gophers quarterback] is a great athlete ... so facing an athlete like [Robinson] is nothing really spectacular, it's just something we have to come out and face every day," Gophers linebacker Aaron Hill said.

Makes a lot of sense to compare 4.72 speed to 4.32...

Gray- Passing 39/77 for 521 yards, 3 td/ 3int. 112.5 passer rating.  Rush- 71 times for 351 yds and 0 tds.

Denard- Passing 35/72 for 642 yards, 6 td/6int 132.2 passer rating. Rush- 71 times for 553 yds and 5 tds.

Similar attempts in passing and running but big difference in production. I wouldnt exactly say Aaron Hill knows what hes facing Saturday

ND played up to its potential? EMU, WMU, and SDSU are leagues ahead of those teams? Wipe off those maize colored glasses. Everybody is justly worried about how Denard will do against real competition--the only thing Minnesota is being stupid about is thinking that they're real competition.

Yea, I think their defense was as good as they're going to be. They went toe to toe with a good offense and lost by a slim margin. Their rushing defense is giving up 93 yards per game on 2.9 per carry (both top 25 defensive numbers), Denard ran for 108 yards and 6.75ypc. Denard had a good game, the ND defense didn't play poorly.

The other teams are up in the air, but I do think that SDSU, ND and WMU would beat the combination of USC, Miami and NDSU.

I've been saying it all year: MSU is a 7-5 team at best.  They lost too many players this winter, and were really an 8-5 or 9-4 team that got great breaks, both on the field and from the schedulemaker, last year to go 11-2.

Sparty will keep it close against Michigan a little into the third quarter out of sheer hatred, but Michigan should have a big second half against them.

In computer technology, a queue is a sequence of work objects that are waiting to be processed. Perhaps it would have been better if I had said "place <object> in the [MGoBlog] queue [so it could be posted onto the website]," but sometimes I want to use nouns like verbs. Google proves this is possible; "queue" is another example given that it's used in this manner commonly enough that there's a call to sticky the preferred usage of the word.

You've messed up the idiom though. You're looking for "cue" as in "provide a signal" (as in stage direction). "Queue [X]" as in "add it to the list" is grammatically correct, but not idiomatically correct.

It's like mixing up "toe the line" and "tow the line". Both are sensical, correct English phrasing - but the first is the correct idiomatic expression.

Exactly, we all know what the real deal is, I'm more than willing to let the Gophers talk all they want, we'll just see if they can back any of this up on Saturday.

Talk is cheap and actions speak louder than words, I have a feeling Minny is gonna find this out soon.

Robinson is just another good player.

And now, in other news... ebola is just another virus, the Sahara Desert is just another a pile of sand, Avatar was just another movie that made some money, the Mona Lisa is just another painting of a lady, Adolf Hitler was just another jerk with a bad haircut, blue whales are just another big dolphin, and Columbus is just another excrement-filled sinkhole.

I mean they can't stop anybody, so it's kinda true that Denard's just another great athlete to them.

HOWEVA, downplaying him as "just another great athlete" only makes them further unprepared. Gray may be fast, but Denard is muuuuuuch more than fast (and that's still a vast understatement).

It would be like saying Tom Brayd or Payton Manning is just another good NFL quarterback.

I say good for them. Seriously. They know they're not a good team and don't really stand a chance this weekend, but you've got to have pride and confidence in your team, and that's what I'm hearing from those Minnesota players. Saturday may be a rude awakening for them when they realize that Denard is like nothing they've had to face on a daily basis in practice, but props to them for showing some pride in their team.

I disagree. This isn't having pride in your team, this is being a jackass to upcoming opponents. Listen to soundclips from teams with actual pride about facing Robinson, and you won't find comments like this. This is a player or two on their team setting the rest of them up to look like morons.

Ask Demens or Ryan what they think about Gray, and you'll get a very different response. One with some class.

I don't think Hill made a classless comment, and Vereen admitted that Denard is a playmaker and an athlete and all you have to do is turn on ESPN to see him, so I see no disrespect there.

Hill was speaking as a competitor and he threw down his glove and basically put the onus on Denard to show up this weekend. Now, chances are Denard shows up and makes Hill look silly for calling him an average Joe, but would it have been better for Hill to say "Yup, I've got no idea how we're going to contain Denard. We're going to do our best to take good angles and not give up the edge, but there's no way we're going to be able to actually execute that. We're screwed." While that may be the truth, you don't say that as a competitor.

What I think, or would at least hope, a Michigan player would have said (and I believe they have in the past, but finding quotes proved difficult) is "You can tell he's a special athlete, but we've got confidence in our team to do the little things you need to do to contain a player like that, and the coaches will put us in the best position to succeed." Or something to that effect. That covers the bases of acknowledging your opponent, doesn't make your team look like idiots if you lose, and credits the players on your side of the field.

If he wanted to put the onus on Denard, he could have easily said "you know, he's human, he has good days and bad days, ect. ect."

What are they supposed to say? "He's better than us and we have no way to stop him and are going to lose?" Come on. If OSU had a transcendent athlete and one of our guys acknowledged that, we'd crucify that kid.
