That's batshit crazy.
GopherQuest is over
......they just orgasmed.
Both of them?
Good for Minnesota as fun as GopherQuest was, you had to be rooting for that team
Man, I was hoping to witness history. Good for the players though.
Kirk Ferrentz seat is smoking hot right now...
Bill Martin is calling him and Greg Schiano to see if they want the job.
onsides kick with 8 minutes left was a great call. Coach Kill said if it didnt work they would have ran him out of town. Good for the Gopher and Coach Kill.
They're putting together a notable run of their own, 0-5 with 4 straight losses by 21 or more.
By Brian's metric, it will only be the worst team in 6 years, as they have scored 31% of the points in their games.
wooow on one hand, Iowa can't be very good. But, on the other, you gotta imagine that they're going to go all out against us next week.
They will probably come out with a high energy level, but their confidence level has to be pretty low now. They might crack if we can jump on them early.
I think their bigger problem is that their defense just isn't very good this year after most of their best players the last few years moved on. They've faced a parade of bad offenses and are still giving up an average of 400 yards a game. We should beat them fairly easily if we don't self-destruct more than usual.
Let's see what Hoke will do to the Iowa Hawkeyes next week
Coker is a battering ram. Our front 7 will need to drive through him and wrap up well next week. Also, I hope Countess is up to the task of covering McNutt next week.
I think JT is the man for Mcnutt. I know he had a couple bad plays today I think he brings it next week.
I'll be rooting for them like crazy next week.
Edit: in case it wasn't clear I meant Minnesota against MSU
the quest should have been over after they lost to a good USC team 19-17 in week 1.
The quest was solely tracking big ten games by teams in history, non conference games had no bearing.
Right, but that whole premise is ridiculous - a "worst big ten team ever" designation that only takes conference games into account doesn't really tell you anything . Would a team be the "worst big 10 team ever" if they lost all of their conference games by the largest average margain ever, but then also beat 3 ranked teams in non conference games? Of course not.
damn...Iowa is gonna come out next week with their backs agaisnt the wall after this game....we better be damn sure to bring the A+ game.
We would not have folded after losing to State the past two years. I would be interested to see historical sucess of teams coming off a close loss or upset or both. Unfortunatly I have no idea where to go for that information.
Michigan should worry about: Some average-to-good Big Ten team will inexplicably lose to them.
Michigan can sleep soundly about: It’ll probably be Iowa.
Heiko is THE_KNOWLEDGE
You deserve real points for remembering this.
Extend Kill again!!!
I felt really bad for them. It's never fun to see a team play as poorly as they were (unless it's our sworn enemies). Fun to see how happy and fired up those kids were
What's more is that Minnesota will beat them two weeks in a row. Zing
Let's just hope that's the same Iowa that shows up in a week.
Great news for Minnesota and Jerry Kill. It seems like maybe he is doing better healthwise, too. I'm not worried about Iowa's attitude or motivation, though. Michigan always gets almost every team on the schedule's best shot anyway.
Even if Minnesota lost today, 1981 Northwestern would still be the worst BIG TEN team of all time.
Now we get to play an extremely angry Iowa team on their turf.
I have to agree with you. Those NW teams of that era were god awful
Yeah, and it's disappointing that Iowa is that bad because they're really our best hope for another Sparty loss, which we need in order to win the division.
Sparty hasn't won at Iowa since 1989. Maybe the Hawks will pull off another win.
Good for the Gophers. It's nice to see they have some fight in them.
good for the gophers, but this hurts my confidence in winning the division if sparty has to lose to Iowa for it to happen.
They could lose to Minnesota next week. Apparently, the Gophers are better than Iowa anyway.
I don't like our chances of winning the division. I just don't see MSU losing to anyone left on their schedule. However, if you think @Iowa is their only threat to lose, Northwestern usually puts up a good fight with MSU. Seeing as last year, Dantonio needed to resort to fake punts and trick plays to pull that one out.
I don't like our odds, but I still think MSU can pull a Sparty and cough one up to Northwestern or Iowa. However, I think the odds are probably higher that we lose one more.
Time for Sparty to roll over. They do it every year. A big win and then a loss to a patsy, Why not Mini?
I thought playing Iowa was going to be a pretty close game. Since Minnesota gashed Iowa's defense for 178 on the ground and 193 in the air...I am very much looking forward to this game. Coker (spelling?) looks good but their defense just looked awful.
I cant wait to see what http://www.firejerrykill.com/ says bout this win.
Natural enemies: Night Games and Bone Density.
Thanks for sharing that site. I'll have to had it to the must read list.
"Denard Robinson may put up a million yards on Iowa."
Wooow Iowa?? Wow hope this kills iowas momentum next week
Let's put the nail in there good next week. Losing to that team is just disgraceful.
Will be very interesting to see how Iowa responds next week. Also how embarrassing is this for Indiana. They are now behind Minnesota. Never occurred to me that was possible to happen.
Did Iowa just stop recruiting a couple years ago? How did that defense get that bad all of a sudden that they'd give up 22 to the gophers? They've been lights out the past few years. Or is it possible that Ricky Stanzi was as valuable to his team as Payton Manning was to the Colts? Could be the only comparison ever to be drawn between the two.
At the game, it was a fun game to watch, there was a feeling that the Gophers could somehow win the game, two missed first half field goals certainly helped their cause and that onside kick was done to perfection. Gray ran a solid second half, including running it in for the game winning touchdown.
Hard to say what read I got from Iowa, other than they have a sucky FG kicker.
Minnesota was never really an all-time worst candidate. Their coach's health problems and the temporary loss of their starting QB (Gray) just seemed to take the fight out of them for a few weeks. The Gopher team that played today looked a lot like the team that went to L.A. and nearly upset USC.
They are pretty freaking awful.
I am starting to believe that anyone can beat anyone in this league.
Now they're just the Minnesota G's
Iowa is going to come in pissed off next week. We need to carry over the momentum from the beating we gave the Boilermakers. If our offense plays mainly turnover free, we can win this game easily!
It would've been so easy for them to completely pack it in. Wasted season. Oh well. They didn't quit and they deserve the win.
