Good Time of Year for "WTF Does That Mean?" - Lessons in MGoBlog Language
Every once in a while I see someone post a request for an explanation of a commonly used phrase on the old MGoBlog. I know occasionally these things are explained or added to in the permanent Definitions page on the MGoBoard.
So I'd like to open the forum for anyone who has such a question. Figured its a great time of year to open such a forum.
My question is about the term Cooler-Pooper as a reference for Buckeye fan. Please explain.
Anything for you Mr. Lahey, I just need some cheeseburgers.
Do not forget the nearly lost art of IME - In My E-pinion.
I always read it as "In my estimation..."
Funny how we invent things for ourselves.
that was "in my estimation." Hm.
Where does the MUPPETS meme come from? I think I would enjoy it more if I understood it...
The songs temptation followed by the Hawaiian war chant - they always have, always will (until db sells the rights to be the second song to the tgi Friday's jingle). If something awesome happens, the muppet versions of these two songs are played, cuz muppets make everything more fun, compared to perry como.
I believe it started in the 2008-09 school year. Someone dug up Youtube videos of the Muppets performing those two songs and sent them to Brian. Shortly after was a big win - either the Wisconsin football game or the Duke basketball game, I think - and a jubilant Brian posted them afterwards, starting the custom.
What the fuck is today? MGoBoard awareness day? PLZ ADVICE
You stud.
Who is McFarlin? It's not me.
I am just joking though, I remember reading through the User-Curated HOF and he came up. He was before my time, but I thought it was funny re-reading through those posts and he has his own section. Nice blast from the past after hearing about em0.
McFarlin
The biggest assclown in the history of MGoBlog deserves his own section. If your thread is listed here and you're not McFarlin, only you know it for sure, because holy cow, you sure do a great McFarlin impression.

Unverified Voracity?
The origin of Unverified Voracity is that, early on in the blog's history, a MSM outlet mentioned something Brian had posted on MGoBlog (some breaking news story) and derisively referred to it as a blog of "unverified voracity." This was very funny, because of course, the proper word would have been "veracity." The irony of the gaffe tickled Brian, and he has used it ever since.
I wondered about it too.
Heh, I had forgotten about emo!
Fisking?
That's more of an internet/blogosphere term for systematically destroying some other person's poorly thought out/improperly researched article.
Fire Joe Morgan did a really good job at it, I'd highly recommend checking out their archives.
I'm sorry but after a long day at work from 8am-10pm there is nothing better then to go on mgoblog and read all the smart ass comments on here. They crack me up. Keep em comin boys.
Henri, the otter of ennui?
SIAP = "sorry if already posted" which is generic internet slang.
Also, it is easy to google "internet slant" to find a dictionary or interpretation.
http://www.internetslang.com/default.asp?i=S is a link to one such dictionary.
Here's a clue: strings of nonsense letters (siap, wtf, imhe, nsfmf) are USUALLY generic internet slang. Words (Raback it, BKfinest, Tacopants, Muppets, TomVH, Otter of Ennui, unverified voracity, negbang, posbang, first rule of mgopoints, shirtless) are usually mgoblog specific memes. If you keep on reading here, you'll figure it out.
My own minor contribution was a combination of the two: NSFW or home, for which the meaning is obvious.
Tits or gtfo?
Tits is anything good. This goes way back 20+ years. Because...all guys like tits.
gtfo = get the f*** out/off
delete; double post
Does the term ANGAR have any background story on here, or was it just a typo that has snowballed?
