A Good Reason to Thank Tyree...(and the others who stuck w/ UM)
Thanks to Tyree, Brian, Alex, Grant, Jon and Andew...
Those who stay...
EDIT: Just excited for and appreciative of those who stayed is all and was reminded of that when I saw his tweet...
2015 #Rivals250 U-M commit Tyree Kinnel. “@Tkinnel_2: Next week I get to sign to my dream school! Wow I'm blessed. #GoBlue”

I have to wonder if we would still have some of these recruits if Schiano was hired instead. I had a gut feeling that some of the recruits were on the fence and in wait and see mode. I admit though, my gut is not as knowledgeable as Sam Webb's gut.

would have stayed if we had been able to make a seamless transition to Harbaugh from Hoke in a day or two. Not possible, I understand, but I wonder if any of those guys would have stuck around--like Clark (please!)

Sam Webb has speculated that Weber would have stayed. I have to think most would have. The uncertainty must have been tough to deal with after the seaons disappointment and bad vibes.

Not only that, but no knowledge of Jim Hackett and his ability to properly handle the coaching search.

who stayed. Thanks!

I'm grateful to those who committed to more than just a coach, those who committed to the greatest program in all the land. I appreciate those who realized they had a chance to be a part of something greater than any one coach, those smart enough to realize they had the opportunity to join a legacy.

You never actually stated the reason, right?

Tweeting his love and enthusiasm for UM made me happy and appreciative this morning. I thought it was obvious and possibly others might feel the same.

I can't say it was obvious.

Last October my 3 year old son had to have some emergency surgery due to Meckel's Diverticulum at the Dayton, Ohio Children's Hospital (About 20 minutes from the Huber Heights Wayne H.S.). We were in the hospital for 11 days and on a Monday evening after school 3 players from the Wayne H.S. football team was visiting kids in the hospital. 1 of those players was Tyree Kinnel. I recognized him right away and told my son that he was going to be a Wolverine and my son got a big smile on his face and yelled "Go Blue". Tyree autographed a Wayne H.S. print out and gave it to my son. Since then I hoped that he would stay committed to Michigan. Not only is UM getting a gifted athlete but they are also getting a good young man. Go Blue!

Oh wow! I hope your son is recovered. Thanks for sharing that story! I'm sure Tyree will be in the Mott crew when he gets to campus.

I think it awesome. Part of the reason I dont mind Weber not coming back, granted Chris Clark is in a similar situation, but he didnt commit to play for them.......
Weber will be a heck of a talent and Im not trying to bask him for making the right choice for him, but when he turned his back on Michigan it was to worst possible destination....

While picking up or flipping rock star recruits like Gentry and Marshall attracts the headlines, it's these remaining six from pre-Harbaugh that should be appreciated the most. They stuck with their gut and resisted all the negative recruiting they likely heard from scumbags like Franklin.
Now their confidence in the program is validated and they should be applauded, versus the others like Roseboro, Taylor, Weber and others who scurried off what they thought was a sinking ship. Good riddance to them and let our good times roll.

best for them. We are bringing in some kids that changed their minds based on new information and we lost some for the same reason. It's their right and you can't fault them. I'm all about celebrating the character and leadership of those who had faith in the future of Michigan.

I was as disappointed in seeing those kids decommit as anybody else—especially Roseboro—but look at it from their point of view.
We've all had no problem acknowledging Harbaugh's good sense in continuing to recruit other kids even when he's made an offer to a particular player, say for TE. That's because JH can't afford to be left holding an empty bag on NSD if his first choice doesn't sign.
Highly rated players like Weber and Roseboro also can't afford to delay securing a spot, since they know that the available spots at other schools might also be snapped up by other kids. They didn't have any assurances just what was going to happen at Michigan; was Hoke going to be retained, and if not, who was his replacement? Schiano? Mullen? Miles? Bob Stitt?
Yes, it would be great if all these HS kids committed to an educational institution first, a football program second, and a coach third, but that's simply a pipe dream.
