Good luck, MagnUM
M's Ultimate(frisbee) team is the #1 seed in the 16-team Great Lakes Regional tournament held this weekend in Rockford, IL. Only one team advances to Nationals. Northwestern looks to be the biggest threat to keep MagnUM from making it. Scoreboard here: http://play.usaultimate.org/events/Great-Lakes-D-I-College-Mens-Regiona…
Do they practice together?
Everyone tries out together and then teams are slotted into Magnum and Reserve. A fair number of Reserve players get better and eventually make it onto Magnum their later years. They are basically separate teams during the year.
We actually often share fields for practice, especially during the winter when it's harder to get practice time, however there is very little interaction between the teams except for maybe a couple scrimmages or social events
Came for the condom jokes - stayed for the intended puns....
Like this one....
the backup team to be "TC" or "Rick."
Of course, to save a bit of cash, Magnum could always ask Higgins if it would be alright to put MagnUM up in the main house for the weekend. Not sure how to monitor the Ferrari in that scenario, of course, but as long as he doesn't sic Zeus and Apollo on anyone, I think it would go rather smoothly.
Here are the pools for regionals, starts at 9 am on saturday and then bracket starts at 8 am sunday (which means show up to the field by 7).

For those too lazy to click through, the relevant pools are
Michigan A (1), Illinois State (8), Eastern Illinois (12), Loyola-Chicago (13)
Michigan B (14), Northwestern (2), Michigan State (7), Kentucky (11)
Others of note is Notre Dame as the 4 seed and EMU as the 5 seed
MagnUM is the favorite by a decent margin, and should have very little trouble going undefeated in the group stage.
I'm on reserve and we play our first match against MSU on saturday, so we're hoping to make a pretty big upset to start the tournament, and we definitely can considering only 3 or 4 players aren't going (for most tournaments this year, its been 10-15 out of 29 or something usually)

If MagnUM is the favorite, why are you hoping for a pretty big upset in the first match against MSU? I'm not sure how this all works I guess.

Im on reserve, were the michigan B team, so us beating MSU's A team would be a pretty big upset
Makes much more since now, thanks
In Lisle, but pulling for MagnUM!
went to watch them today until the rain came, 2-0 and was leading the 3rd game 7 - when we left. We live here, it was cool to see the maize and blue.
