GoDaddy.com Bowl Open Thread
Good evening, fellow MGoBloggers, and I trust that you are recovering from the MGoBlackout.
So, the natural lead-in to tomorrow's National Championship Game apparently is the GoDaddy.com Bowl (by ESPN's figuring anyway), which shall begin in just a few moments. We have the 11-2 Kent State Golden Flashes taking on the 9-3 Arkansas State Red Wolves.
This will be, I believe, the first time Kent State has seen a bowl since 1972, and indeed, much as changed since the 1972 Tangerine Bowl, as they will undoubtedly note. Another note, of course, is that these are two teams whose head coaches have, in the interim, taken positions elsewhere.

...with playing in the storied Rubber Bowl six times a year.
[Edit: Derp. They've played at something called the InfoCision Stadium since 2009. Obviously I need to visit Akron more often.]

Kent St has the ugliest helmets ever for this game. Let's hope DB isn't watching...

What are those? I see the K on the back but are those "eyes" in the front?

Dear God, those are eyes. I was trying to figure out what they were. I didn't think the "K" at the back of the helmet was that bad, but the eyes are horrendous.
I swear, if DB approves some f'ed up throwback that puts wolverine eyes on our helmets to make us look like the animal, I will throw up. Continuously. For a year.

I'm not exactly sure what a golden flash is, but I certainly can't figure out why it would have eyes.

It isn't too often that you get a chance to see "Bump, Set, Interception" on 3rd and goal. Red Wolves' ball on a valiant effort by Kent State to incorporate volleyball into the game.

Are we going to get the dreaded half-the-disance to the goal line on the kick off team?
EDIT: Yep, from the 10.

Is Ditka driving the bus?

So, did I see this right? Did Arkansas St. really run a QB draw on 3rd and 21? Did someone go to the Ryan Tannehill School Of Obvious Rushing Downs? Just curious.
