Mom??
February 28th, 2010 at 5:44 PM ^
But I'm not in love with you. My heart currently belongs to someone else. I don't want to reveal my crush's identity, so I'll just refer to this individual as "JMFJ."
February 28th, 2010 at 5:41 PM ^
"Well, it was at least a great game...it's too bad we couldn't seal the deal in overtime. But they at least didn't get embarrassed, and had Canada worried for awhile there. Silver isn't so bad."
Think that'll work?
Neg if USA wins...I'll sacrifice the points for Gold...
February 28th, 2010 at 5:41 PM ^
I'm pretty sure Roenick is on Ecstasy.
Pick out another one, Luongo! USA! USA!

February 28th, 2010 at 5:44 PM ^
Final Countdown is on. I like it.
February 28th, 2010 at 5:44 PM ^
YEEEEAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
February 28th, 2010 at 5:44 PM ^
man, the studio coverage with mike milbury and JR has just been awful all tournament long. milbury is an idiot who fucked the islanders as GM and is basically a crappy, non-entertaining version of don cherry (w/o the suits). JR can barely go one sentence without misspeaking, and doesnt know what he's talking about half the time.
why can't they get some decent commentators in the studio? bring in mickey redmond, maybe brett hull.
February 28th, 2010 at 5:44 PM ^
I love the playing of "Final Countdown" over the PA. Nice touch.
February 28th, 2010 at 5:46 PM ^
Why do commentators and the media keep comparing this game the the Miracle? Nothing alike, other than the US is involved.
/rant
February 28th, 2010 at 5:49 PM ^
30 year anniversary. NBC hyped it going in and they have to remain 'on theme.'
February 28th, 2010 at 5:47 PM ^
Bad ice to start OT....
February 28th, 2010 at 5:47 PM ^
This is a great story, but this isn't the Miracle on Ice team. Nothing is, and probably ever will be.
Sorry, the announcers are bugging me.
February 28th, 2010 at 5:48 PM ^
Canada looks slow and the fans in attendance are losing their shit. no more 'Louuuuuuuuu' after saves, crowd noise almost non-existent, etc.
February 28th, 2010 at 5:49 PM ^
when anything less than a gold medal is abject failure.
February 28th, 2010 at 5:59 PM ^
We're the same way when Olympic basketball is concerned.
February 28th, 2010 at 5:48 PM ^
Is it only one OT period then a shootout, or do they go OT periods until a score (like NHL playoffs)?
February 28th, 2010 at 5:50 PM ^
20 min, then shootout
February 28th, 2010 at 5:53 PM ^
fuck crosby
February 28th, 2010 at 5:53 PM ^
fuckin hell and it had to be crosby
February 28th, 2010 at 5:53 PM ^
Great game, shit.
February 28th, 2010 at 5:54 PM ^
The look on Ryan Miller's face said it all.
February 28th, 2010 at 5:54 PM ^
Fuck.
February 28th, 2010 at 5:56 PM ^
has to have that. played incredible all of the games but damn man.
February 28th, 2010 at 7:37 PM ^
Nothing soft there though, straight up 5 hole on the replay, beat Miller clean. Miller played it well.
February 28th, 2010 at 8:05 PM ^
I have to agree. Just a clutch play from Crosby.
Congrats on the big win, and have fun celebrating. You guys deserve it, but we'll be coming for you in 2014. :)
February 28th, 2010 at 5:54 PM ^
goddammit, now the media is gonna have an even larger boner for crosby. he's gonna get years of fellatio for this.
February 28th, 2010 at 5:55 PM ^
The Americans did their country proud.
But DAMN.
February 28th, 2010 at 5:55 PM ^
Arrrrgh, anyone but Crosby!
February 28th, 2010 at 6:12 PM ^
pretty much the general consensus of everyone I know. Any one but that douche nozzle.
February 28th, 2010 at 5:55 PM ^
NOOOOOOOOOOOO :'(
February 28th, 2010 at 5:56 PM ^
Did he just say that Ryan Miller will be the tournament MVP? Wow, that's surprising, although I don't have a problem with that.
February 28th, 2010 at 5:58 PM ^
save %
shutouts
W's
no standout 20 pointer guys, etc.
February 28th, 2010 at 6:02 PM ^
You're right, I was just surprised that someone from the losing team would still be MVP, but there probably isn't someone obvious on the Canadian team, either.
February 28th, 2010 at 6:01 PM ^
He should be, he was the best player in the tourney--regardless of who won.
February 28th, 2010 at 5:57 PM ^
Miller played awesome.
February 28th, 2010 at 5:57 PM ^
NO MIRACLE TODAY, SORRY DUDES!!!!!!!!!!!
February 28th, 2010 at 5:57 PM ^
Clarkie from Canada comes back on MGoBlog AFTER Canada wins something, per usual.
Why did it have to be Crosby?
I wanted a shoot-out...
Never trust a Sparty.
February 28th, 2010 at 6:00 PM ^
was the reason we made the finals to begin with. I'll hate him again next week, but for now, I'm a big Ryan Miller fan.
February 28th, 2010 at 6:03 PM ^
Isn't "I'm a big Ryan Miller fan" going just a bit too far? Respect his play; enjoy watching him play, represents the USA well, etc.... is about as far as I can go when it comes to Sparty.
February 28th, 2010 at 7:42 PM ^
Had a lot of people over for that one so sorry I didn't get to enjoy the coverage on here (which would be way better than the NBC feed you all must have to watch). Anyway, it was a good game and Miller almost pulled it off for them. A lucky bounce on the end and nice finish in the 6 on 5. In the overtime it looked like Canada had most of the play and this surprised me a bit.
As an aside, I've been around the whole time. Some might find all the fuck Canada and fuck Crosby analysis offensive. I'll admit it does get old. Stay classy though.
February 28th, 2010 at 5:58 PM ^
Damn, that was a soft goal for Miller.
February 28th, 2010 at 5:58 PM ^
:(
Ah well, was a great game none the less. Congrats Canada, and thanks for hosting a great Winter Olympics.
February 28th, 2010 at 5:59 PM ^
Gosh I hate Cindy. He really didn't do a lot in the Olympics but will be forever remembered for this.
February 28th, 2010 at 6:00 PM ^
4 on 4 OT in the Olympics sucks by the way.
February 28th, 2010 at 6:14 PM ^
I agree. I didn't realize it was 4 on 4 at first, but when I realized it was I thought that it was a advatage for canada.
February 28th, 2010 at 6:01 PM ^
Great game!
February 28th, 2010 at 6:01 PM ^
Well, what a game. I know it's four years away, but after that game, how can the NHL not let it's players go to Russia. Watching games on tape delay or on-line will still be worth it to see games like this.
Plus, even though Olympic hockey isn't like NHL hockey, there wasn't a better advertisement for hockey as a sport than this game today.
