Go to gameday shirt

Submitted by SagNasty on

What is your go to gameday shirt / jersey?

For years my wife and I would buy the student shirt to wear to games. Its maize and we like to participate in the maize outs. I stopped buying the shirt for myself a couple of years ago and my wife did not purchase one last year. We are considering buying this years version to wear to games until the weather requires more layers.

So, what do you wear to games or while watching Michigan games?

For the longest time it was "The Lord is my Shepherd, but BO is my coach!" shirt. Now I am searching for a new one as I have lost a considerable amount of weight and the old grey Adidas one looks like a moomoo.

I always try to wear the student t-shirt to gamedays, even when it gets cold. Then I add in a couple other blue/maize long sleeve layers and maize and blue scarf. If it gets cold enough then I add a maize sweatshirt. No matter what, I try to maintain the maize somewere.

In college our tradition was to always wear our student t-shirts and we weren't allowed to wash them unless Michigan lost a game.

This proved to be a bad idea after the 2011 Western Michigan game that ended in the 3rd quarter due to a monsoon, followed by 6 straight wins.

It was also VITAL that our friend wear her lucky home underwear. We attribute the 2011-2012 undefeated home seasons to that.

tend to prefer my dark navy t-shirt with Michigan arching across the front in Maize. Or, my old Champion or McGregor heavy weight sweatshirts, same style. I used to have a blue cap from Lids with Wolverines arching across the front, but its worn out. I love to see Michigan and/or Wolverines spelled out, with little else.

I wear anything blue with maize letters. Since the Maize push we are ave. in football. Look at pictures of the stadium in the 70's ,80's and 90's. This was the time period when more then one lost was a bad year. It's Go Blue not Go Maize for a reason. Yes I am old season tickets for 40 years.

I'd agree that a sea of maize is brighter and more intimidating than a sea of navy would be, but it's _really_ a bad color on whitey. Only equatorial types can pull it off well.

One thing that I'm somewhat anxious about is the continuation of the maize pom poms. These are a MUST HAVE in my opinion; besides the fact I love using them, they make the stadium look amazing. And they are useful for people who may not own maize sweatshirts/jackets. Also, who can hate on free items.

See here- during the MSU 2012 game: (at first just the student section stands out, but after 5-10 seconds notice that the rest of the stadium suddenly becomes "maized-out"): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ege_N0sGiAI

I love our pom-poms and I will be incredibly disapointed if they go away due to the new AD or new brand deal.

PS- please don't neg me for not embedding: I'm still learning how to use this site. Thanks :)

I have a grey T-shirt with a bad-ass winged helmet and block M on it that I got at the '95 Kickoff Classic against UVA that we won on the walk-off Hail Mary from Dreisbach to Hayes.

I have worn it for every Michigan game that I watched on TV since.  This includes:

- '97 Judgement Day against PSU

- '97 Woodson game against OSU

- '98 Rose Bowl NC game against WSU

- '00 Orange Bowl Tom Brady game against Alabama

- '04 Triple OT Braylonfest against MSU

- '05 Henne to Manningham walk-off TD against PSU

- '08 miracle comeback against Wisconsin

- Tate's '09 game and Denard's '10 game against ND

- Triple overtime win against Illinios.
- UTL's I, II, III

It still fits (sort of).  It's like a child to me.  I don't know if I'll be able to let it go when the appropriate time comes.

It's beeyoutiful.  I've never been able to find another one like it.  Once the season starts, I don't wash it until the season is over.  So it looks a little bit better in September than it does in November.

It's also seen:

- '95 win against OSU when they dd not take us seriously enough and they played too loose

- '96 win against OSU when they took us too seriously and they played too tight

- New Year's Day '03 win against Florida

- '03 100th Michigan-Ohio State game win

- '06 ND Yakety Sax game

- New Year's Day '08 Lloyd's last game win against Florida / Tebow / Meyer

Hey! This season is it's 20th birthday.  Maybe I'll spill some birthday cake on it.

It was cool how they did it up like a real bowl game, with Virginia's name in the north end zone and ours in the south.

Hottest game I've ever been to.  I felt sorry for our guys, having to wear the dark jerseys.  We looked really lethargic.

To this day, I think wearing the white jerseys gave VA an edge in the game.

Before every season I usually buy a new t and hat to wear to the games. However there have been a few years recently where I haven't been motivated to do so...since I have to spend an arm and a leg at the game.

as I'm always wearing my Michigan sweatshirt. But I will check out the M-Den when in town in August and see what might catch my eye. Like most of us, the fervency of my fandom has greatly increased recently.

It's been white dress shirt, blue tie with little maize M's on it, maize cardigan with blue stripes on one sleeve (letter sweater style) and khaki shorts.
Cold games I'll wear taller socks, hot games I'll roll up the sleeves on the sweater.
Usually only 2 games a year is it comfortable temperature wise.
Because of this, and superstition, things may change this year.
I did get the Michigan khaki dockers for my birthday...
