As for the 25-year-old Glendening, he has played in five outdoor games for three different teams – the University of Michigan, Grand Rapids Griffins and Red Wings. Two of the games were at Michigan Stadium on Michigan’s Ann Arbor campus, where he starred for three seasons. He also played outdoors at Camp Randal Stadium in Madison, Wis., Progressive Field in Cleveland, and Comerica Park in Detroit. “They’re all memorable in their own ways,” Glendening said. “Obviously the Winter Classic at the Big House, where I played in college was special, but every one has had their own unique experiences and I’ve enjoyed every one.”

He's come a long way from last year where he couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. Winning faceoffs a bit more often and better defensively as well.

I think his ceiling is probably a player like Draper, but that's not bad at all. Happy to have a Wolverine (and West Michigander) on the Wings.

You will never ever meet a person with more real character and strength. And Maltby is a friend of mine and that is a perfect comparison. Luke is likely one of the best athletes on the ice. He ran a 4.5 forty in high school and was all state in three sports. The kid has it and kenny loves him.

It seems like yesterday we were all in panic mode when we didn't sign Weber or Prawise in 2013. The way our young guys have developed has been unbelievable. Its not like we have had top 10 picks either. Gotta give Holland and our scouts huge credit, and are Grand Rapids staff. When the time comes we gotta lock up Tatar, Nyquist, Sheahan, Glendening and Jurco. Then the next crop of Mantha, Temu Pulkonen, Ryan Sproul, and the Russian kid(I forget his name). Hopefully we can get just one top 10 defenseman at the deadline and im happy this year.
