Gibson (-3) vs Iowa passing, probably a bigger negative than that

Submitted by iawolve on

I kept telling my friends all week that Iowa needs to go to the air against Pitt since Gibby was rocking the secondary. Iowa scored touchdowns on their last 4 possessions while throwing for 400 yards (highly unusal for Iowa). The last Iowa TD that is on SportsCenter is the classic Pitt DB turning around, slowing up as the receiver keeps running and watching the ball sail over his head. Been there, unfortunately done that.So glad that guy is gone.

Flip side though, Calvin's charges didn't look too bad.

Gotta love the expertise of people on the topic of position coaches when they have never sat in on a single practice or film session.

going to support Tony Gibson secondary coaching ability.   If yes then you gotta love the obtuse observation of fans.  The secondary has been fairly solid this year vs what I expected. THey tackle better and have not blown a ton of coverages.

I believe Gibson was a horrid secondary coach.

The fact is it's too hard to fairly judge a position coach's work from the outside as it is far less defined than a coordinator's play-calling or a head coach's game management. Most people (OP included) just end up sounding like blowhard know-it-alls when they try to comment on it.
