I think FSU stands to lose something around 20 players to graduation or eligibility expiration (between seniors and fifth-year kids, and granted, not all of them starters) after the season, so I imagine they'd be pleased with early enrollees then. I have to think that, if Campbell develops as people think he might, he'll find the field pretty early on perhaps.

The whole thing with his uncle, or whoever it was, sounded awfully shady.  But these things happen.  And maybe it wasn't "shady" at all.  Campbell is probably a good kid or the Michigan coaches wouldn't have wanted him in the first place.  I was crushed "losing" Campbell and Harris.  But then M added Cole and Weber who are in-state guys, which I think is a good thing, too.  "Losing" someone to Florida St isn't nearly as bad as losing someone to MSU or OSU, in my opinion.

I wasn't crushed as much by Campbell as Harris as I thought Harris was finally a RB who we'd have zero questions about.  Campbell had those dropsies issues when we had them so I saw him sort of a Shane Morris type - massive ceiling if he figures it all out but a floor lower than some other candidates out there if he doesn't.

That said we recruited a nice replacement.  And with Harris if you had told me I can have Isaac and Weber OR Harris, I'd choose the former just due to probability.  Yes there is an outside chance Harris is better than the other 2 but I'll take 2:1 odds on a batch of 3 very good RBs.

I still remember him hugging Hoke in that picture so hard to feel any negative towards him.  Also the "Cole is better" talk is silly - we have no idea who will be better down the road.

"I prefer Cole" I get, but saying 1 is better than the other due to rankings or whatnot - thought we'd learned something about that by now.  Obviously this guy is a physical specimen - but he had hands issues when we recruited him and if he had stayed with us the whole time everyone would be dismissing the issue and saying Coach Heck will fix him and he will not redshirt with all that talent.  If he ever gets the whole "catching things consistently" thing  down he looks like a potential beast.  Obviously that is a massive if.

All that said having both Cole and Campbell would have been nice.  With the young talent at WR we could have taken a flier on Campbell; he might never pan out but if he did figure out his catching issue he could have been the top WR in the conference based on measurables (speed/height).  If he didn't pan out, we still had Cole and our deep WR core.

From Mayor to Manure.

It's not a diss on the kid. He obviously liked Michigan but others around him didn't. I think Michigan made up for his loss quite nicely with Brian Cole who I will wager will end up being a much better WR than Campbell who seems to drop balls more than you'd want with a Wide Out.

We got a ton of skill position talent in Weber and Cole.  Doesn't mean it wouldn't have been nice to have Harris and Campbell too.  Best of luck to him, I wouldn't mind seeing FSU down the road!
