I'm in downtown New Orleans right now in what is an incredible scene in The Big Easy. Geaux Saints yall enjoy the game.
I live in the Tampa Bay area and cheering for the Saints would be like an mgoblog regular cheering for MSU.
I hope the city of New Orleans continues to recover and wish its citizens well, but as to the Saints:
I don't really have a horse in this race, but there are few minor factors that tip me to the black and gold:
- The Saints used to be where the Lions are. If they can do it, so can the Lions. (Don't talk about ownership. Please let me dream.)
- I mildly dislike Indiana, simply because it gets in my way when I try to get back to Michigan. It's impossible to hate such a bland place.
Indiana might be bland, but Indianaplis is a pretty fun city. There is always something to do. And it has a decent nightlife.
That must be why it's a vacation destination. :-] Where should I go this weekend? Vegas, Cabo, or Indianapolis? You know what they say: "What happens in Indy stays in Indy because no one cares, but it will still be decried as sinful from 1,000 Methodist pulpits."
Decent compared to Fort Wayne, yes. Decent compared to Winchester, Virgina (whose nightlife is nothing special), no. I've unfortunately spent time in Indy, and viewed its scenic fleshpots. Falling under "not as bad as you might think" is not the same as "not bland."
It's a city with no history, and no reason for being aside from bureaucrats drawing an X through the new rectangular territory and saying, "Let's build a capitol here."
I'm rooting for the Saints in large part because I don't want Peyton Manning to win as many Super Bowls as Tom Brady. (Yes, I am that petty.) Also, the whole "good for the community that was devastated by a hurricane" thing.
Here's to the 504.
Who Dat !
Not petty, you just remember those bastards in Tennessee voting away our outright NC title in '97. Tennessee whiners. We regain our title as largest stadium, win a NC AND piss off the SEC in the same year by Woodson winning the Heisman over Manning? Damn, good memories.
On a side note, Peyton does have funny commercials...because he's goofy looking.
didn't think it was possible, but it looked like one day drew brees' kid will have a larger forehead than peyton. didn't think it was possible
You're in downtown New Orleans right now? Why are you posting instead of partying. C'mon Man!
Brady is still the best modern era QB!!!
Tracy Porter, form U of Indiana makes the back-breaking INT!!! Big11 alive and well in the league!! Geaux Saints!!! SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Laissez les bon temps rouler!
<----Tulane M '87
Peyton can go cut that meat.
Laissez les bons temps rouler!
I also live in the 504 these days. The French Quarter last night was one of the most amazing scenes I've ever witnessed. I saw 2 grown men break down and cry tears of joy after Manning's 4th down pass fell to the ground. I'm so happy for the people of this city.
I was able to go around Bourbon Street last night after the game. Unbelievable.
guess there is a Who Dat army within MGoBlog. I also was downtown. ridiculous doesn't even cover it.
I live about an hour from NOLA......I have no one to watch M games with. EVER.
In NOLA, there's generally a pretty big crowd of M fans/alum at Cooter Brown's. I'd suggest going there if you're ever in town on game day.
Call up the families of Carvin and Dileo around a big screen next year!!
