Gator Bowl renamed the TaxSlayer Bowl

I really wish I was making this up.

The Gator Bowl was the 6th oldest bowl game going back to 1945.

Disappointed that the logo isn't a sword going through a Tax Dragon or something.

I have a suspicion that it will be the Gator Bowl again one day as well, but in an era when we have such classics now as the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl and the San Diego Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl and the vaunted Beef O'Brady's St. Petersburg Bowl, this doesn't seem like it is the worst thing that could happen when it comes to brazen marketing ploys anymore.

Another pointless bowl run by old white guys in suits has caved into corporate sponsorship. I'll never be able to enjoy this years thrilling Rutgers-UTEP matchup the same way

fall in line with the rest of the world and start putting sponsorships prominently all over their uni's?  The English Premier League teams aren't even recognizable to me in terms of city, I just know them as "the Etihad Airlines team" or the "AIG team" or whatever.

Boeing should at least sponsor the Jets, because obviously.

He looks like someone gave every sticker in the book to their 2 year old and just let them loose on his uniform.  What's next, a corporate sponsorship tattoo on his face?

Every time I hear those words I think of Johnny Wanglers knee and how Bo's most prolific passing offense and QB went down at the same time and we lost 17-15 I believe. I think it was Lawrence Taylor who did the dirty deed.

In the landscape of college football, everything is changing.

  • Bowl names
  • New bowls
  • BCS/playoff system
  • Conference mutilation/16 team conferences
  • Player unions
  • Night games at the Big House

I'm just going to roll with it.  I love UM football.  As long as it still exists and remains relatively ttraditional (no uniformz, no f'ing with the helmet in ANY WAY, etc...), I'll just roll with the changes.
