Gary Danielson's mania strikes again

In the waning moments of the UF-Bama game, Danielson once again comes out of the sanity closet and says "the Heisman race is now Colt McCoy and Mark Ingram."

Not even a mention of Stanford runner Toby Gerhart, who is as good as Ingram if not better, from his lips when describing his Heisman "also-rans," and he mentions Sam Bradford as if he had even been a candidate this season.

GD has been a big-time shill for the SEC and this was another brick in that wall. Ingram may well deserve it - he's a pretty good ballplayer - but to just say all the other competitors are out of the race is literally unbelievable.

I will never, ever forgive him for the anti-Michigan rant he was permitted to go on for three hours during the SEC championship game in 2006. I've never heard anything like it from a color guy on any broadcast, ever. I'm not saying we were the best team in the country by any means, but based on the flawed system in place, we did NOT deserve to get jumped by Florida thanks largely to this douchebag.

Danielson was outrageously unprofessional during that broadcast.

Maybe I'm living in the past, or some fantasy land, but national sportscasts should always be trying to call things as close to 50/50 as possible.

Exactly. He is perfectly entitled to his opinion that the SEC champion deserved to be there over Michigan. I'm happy to assume it's his genuine opinion, and if he mentioned it a couple times, fine.

But he talked about it nonstop for an entire game, to the point that I wondered if Michigan was playing. They put up a chart of the wins by Michigan and Florida that year, and he just butchered our team and schedule. It was totally outrageous, and the fact that he knew he would be able to move Florida forward in the polls by doing it made it completely unprofessional.

It's tough to say, particularly since we're dealing with the content of people's minds and secret ballots. But I'd wager a very, very significant percentage of voters were watching that game. They were treated to an hours-long attack against the Big Ten and Michigan, especially since it was not a close game (17-0 Florida lead to open).

I'm not arguing that it was not a legitimate viewpoint, nor do I think there is much of an argument, having seen the bowl games, that we were the #1 team in the nation. But again, under the system we've got, his nonsense had the real potential to make a difference, and it made me want to stab him in the face.

If he has a good game, I think he should get it.... If he doesn't, Gerhard should get it. However, If it's not McCoy, Ingram will probably be the one who actually gets it, not Gerhard, which is unfortunate. And so far McCoy is not looking good at all... 2 INTs.

If I were voting:
1. McCoy (if he has a great game here)
2. Gerhard (He gets it if McCoy chokes)
3. Ingram
4. Tebow.

What it will probably be in real life:
1. McCoy (If he has a great game here)
2. Ingram (He gets it if McCoy chokes)
3. Tebow
4. Gerhard
