Why would Gardner go anywhere when he is one year away from taking over the reigns at Michigan? Not to mention that he would have to sit out next year anyway if he transferred to another FBS school.

He would get an opportunity to start two years, instead of one (assuming no medical redshirt, thanks RichRod).

That said, I don't think he'll leave.  It really would be nice if he was just going to be a sophomore next year.

He can take a regular reshirt by skipping this upcoming season.  If he stays, he would need the medical redshirt to get two years of starting.
