Competition makes everyone better. This can only help our overall quarterbacking. Moreover, the kid earned it.... and deserved it. Glad Inkster got their act together and put this kid first before stagnating him in administrative bureaucracy. Kudos to both Gardner and Inkster on this one.

And in case the Michigan QB hating Gods take out Tate with an injury (God forbid) and Denard doesn't progress as much as we hope from year one to year two, then at least DG will be much more ready to take over if he has to...I hope he doesn't have to, but it'll be nice to have another quality option at QB.

DG's EE will provide UM with depth and competition at QB this season. Both are great for the program. I do hope, though, that Forcier keeps his job and stays healthy and Denard progresses into the QB we were all hoping he could be. I would like to see RR get to have a second-year QB instead of three straight first-year QB's.

I want Tate to be the starting QB all year, with Denard as the back up and situational QB. I do not want DG to play, so he can redshirt. But last year, we had no QB with any proven abilities to be great. We had a one experienced, hard-working QB (Sheridan) who shouldn't actually see the field barring injury, plus two QBs with the potential to be very good. This year we will have one proven high quality QB (Forcier), one QB with experience and potential (DRob), and one QB with the sky as the limit in terms of potential (DG)...plus Sheridan if the shit hits the fan. That's a hell of a lot better situation. And it ensures that we would have a quality option to start if Tate gets injured like he did last year. He shouldn't have been forced to play through the three injuries he had.

Does this mean he will stop being asked about whether his commitment to Michigan is solid? He could still withdraw by Monday and head down to Florida. (snark)

It is really nice to see that the Michigan community rallied together to get this done. I'm sure it took extra effort from quite a few people, and I for one would like to say THANK YOU. Now DG reward these people with one hell of a career here, starting with a "real spring game". Work hard and enjoy the best University in the World.

So does this mean he's not decommitting to go to Florida (or insert school that all the detractors in the media said he was going to leave Michigan for)?

So an adult made a decision to allow a qualified student to graduate high school to pursue an opportunity to attend a top university? That is an interesting idea indeed.
