Gameday/Noon Games Open Thread
Iowa at Northwestern and IU at Illinois in Big Ten action. In other irrevelant games around the country, Texas plays at Kansas and Tennessee is in South Carolina.
Pulling hard for Northwestern today, as a Michigan victory and an Iowa loss would be ideal.

Kansas is up on Texas. Not sure how to react to this. Please provide suggestions.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:10 PM ^
1. It is early in the game.
2. Texas has no defense, and therefore most of their wins will be somewhat close.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:31 PM ^
Right, but let's say theoretically, Kansas goes on to win this game....what next for Texas? I've heard some grumblings that Mack Brown might be on his way out with the way this team has played. Getting blown out by Oklahoma is bad. Losing to Kansas is rock bottom. At the very least, Diaz has to go, right? I mean, he should probably go regardless...

In a previous post about this week's betting lines, I mistakenly made Texas 21-pt. underdogs to Kansas. Uh-huh.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:12 PM ^
KU's great turnaround has just begun. We're talking BCS bowls.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:31 PM ^
Schematic advantage, y'all!
October 27th, 2012 at 1:12 PM ^
Checked the box score - Kanas has 169 rushing yards on Texas with just under six minutes to go in the half? Does Texas believe in stopping the run, or is the run a protected species that should be allowed to roam free and multiply in the eyes of Manny Diaz?
I would just go with Longhorn fans and let out a resigned sigh and dream of having a good defense.
October 27th, 2012 at 2:04 PM ^
The schadenfreude from Texas fans would be TWIS hall of fame worthy!
Would also be the end of Mack Brown, in my opinion.

BIG TEN FOOTBAWWW!
I like this commercial better with the seals and the fat faces.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:19 PM ^
10 bucks say Vanderberg goes with a checkdown for 8 yds.
EDIT: Or make a horrible looking back shoulder throw 4yds short.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:18 PM ^
Oh, with some noted exceptions, first downs are typically a sisyphean task for the Iowa offense...and yet, they will go for this on 4th and 12. Will Hawkeye fans watch between the gaps in their fingers?
October 27th, 2012 at 1:18 PM ^
His knee just bent sideways an didn't come back. This is bad bad bad. That looks career ending.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:19 PM ^
Sure does. That was hard to watch. From the look on his face, he knows it, too.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:22 PM ^
Great sportsmanship by the Tennessee players to join the SC players on the field around Lattimore.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:19 PM ^
Yes, it looked really bad. I hope it doesn't end his career, he has a ton of talent.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:20 PM ^
Definitely a right knee dislocation. Kids probably done for the season, I don't know about career. The biggest concern is an arterial injury.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:30 PM ^
thats a good point. right now i hope he can keep his leg! people have had the same injury and ended up having to have the leg taken off. i doubt it is a concern for him but you never know. good luck kid!
October 27th, 2012 at 1:18 PM ^
Ferentz going for it on 4th and 12?!?!!?!?!
October 27th, 2012 at 1:19 PM ^
Vandenberg just throwing ducks all day long so far. He looks terrible.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:19 PM ^
He is done. I hope he can recover, but that was nasty.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:21 PM ^
Worst looking injury I have seen. Best wishes to him.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:23 PM ^
Reminded me of the McGahee injury. Poor guy, hope he can recover and go pro after next season.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:19 PM ^
14-3 NU at the half. Very entertaining.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:22 PM ^
Sad to hear he got injured again. Didn't see it but sounds nasty. Shame.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:23 PM ^
It was one of the most gnarly injuries I have seen in a long time
October 27th, 2012 at 1:23 PM ^
If you're squeamish, don't watch the hit or his emotion being carted off the field. I feel horrible for him. The emotion is palpable even with his head covered by a towel and in his hands.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:23 PM ^
It was one of the worst things I have ever seen. I had to turn the TV off.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:23 PM ^
God that sucks. He's done for a while after that. Definitely feel for him.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:23 PM ^
Feel bad for Lattimore.....such great talent and his legs dont want to seem to work for him. Damn shame......
October 27th, 2012 at 1:23 PM ^
Never seen both teams come on the field to send off an injured player the way Tenn and South Carolina just did for Lattimore. Let's hope it's not as bad as it looked and he has a full recovery.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:23 PM ^
Damn! My heart goes out to Lattimore and his family. That was a bad looking injury to his other knee. I feel bad...
October 27th, 2012 at 1:23 PM ^
Illinois fans rightfully boo a punt deep in Indiana territory down 7 (!!) with less than a minute in the 2nd. Big life, big stage, big ten.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:27 PM ^
Big life, big stage, big ten
That's pretty good! You best TM that
October 27th, 2012 at 1:23 PM ^
that lattimore hit turned my stomach.. hope he can come back next year and continue his playing at South Carolina
October 27th, 2012 at 1:25 PM ^
He plays a down of football again
October 27th, 2012 at 1:30 PM ^
The block I is so much better than Illinois spelled out. We now return you to your regular programming.

Question on Collegiate injuries:
I don't want to sound insensitive in any way, but something I've started wondering the past couple years. So, a nasty injury happens like what just happened to Marcus Lattimore. Obviously, he's done, we know that, so he probably sees a doctor ASAP, today maybe even, and surgery is scheduled for the very near future. Is this something that the schools pay for (if yes, I'm sure they're insured for it, so not fully "pay") or does the scholarship program and what have you not cover injuries to the student-athletes??
October 27th, 2012 at 1:37 PM ^
We're provided insurance in co-ed soccer. Why don't you muster some judgment and provide your own logical answer.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:51 PM ^
The school has to take out insurance policies on their athletes that cover anything related to the sport they play.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:35 PM ^
Had the displeasure of watching Marcus' injury live. I'm surprised serious injuries like this aren't more common. All it takes is one defender up top and another tackling at the knees. I feel so bad for him, I like Lattimore.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:38 PM ^
So everyone justifies Oklahoma as being great by their win over Texas... Texas is still ranked after all, but how?? How is Texas still ranked???? We've been asking this question for the last 3/4 weeks! They have 2 losses in the Big 12 fergodsakes!! The big 12 is an atrocious conference! They're losing to Kansas! Yes, that Kansas.. The one coached by Charlie Weiss! With Texas as Oklahoma's best win to date, I have a hard time seeing how Notre Dame doesn't turn them into road kill with their intimidating front seven. ND 35 - Oklahoma - 6.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:43 PM ^
Its a bit of an eye test. Oklahoma looks like a pretty good team. ND looks like a team that Michigan would've beat if not for Denard's Chernobyl-ing.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:51 PM ^
But having a mediocre to passable defense in the Big 12 can make you look really really good, because you can sometimes stop the offenses that you're facing. Oklahoma will have no answer for ND's legit defense.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:40 PM ^
They are eagerly awaiting the second half...
October 27th, 2012 at 1:44 PM ^
2nd half off to a great start for Iowa.
