They would be the Buffalo Buffalo Buffalo Buffalo Buffalo Buffalo Buffalo Buffalo. To really make it work, you'd need a variable number of Buffalo in the name. Maybe based on the number of wins? Or add one for each season the team has played?

Hoping there's anyone on this board that the joke only works for a tiny subset of people. (I'm hopeful--I learned the basis for it in a computer science class, and I know there are some CS people here.)

Will this be Fleck's last-ever home game at Western?

Any guessed where he ends up? The list of schools likely on the market seems to be shrinking. Tennessee? Texas? MSU? (Threw that last one in for fun.)

WMU grad here.    Here's what we know about the Fleck situation and what questions come from that:

1.   He already gets paid roughly twice what the typical MAC coach does at around $800k.   Boosters other than myself have funded/endowed it, apparently.    I am also hearing that a similar effort is being made to increase that and keep him.    If you're Fleck, do you take just a little bit more to go to a mediocre/bad job like a Purdue, which could harm your career?   Or do you hold out for something more attractive to open up (MSU?)?  If you're getting a million bucks, how bad is it to hang out in Kalamazoo and win a bunch of games until that destination gig presents itself?

2.  Unusual factor, but, he's a 35 year old divorcee with several really small kids, like under 5.   And he's engaged to someone else (no idea if she has any kids or not, lets assume no).    This guy has to be thinking about moving TWO households, not one.    I understand him to be the kind of guy that isn't going to just bail and leave his kids behind in Kalamazoo.   That's a big factor.   Do you run off to a West Lafayette if you have to figure out how to get your ex to move also?

3.   He is a midwest guy, from Chicagoland, played at Northern Illinois.   His recruiting ties and such are in the midwest, and he pulls from Florida too.    Does that translate well to Oregon?

It may be wishful thinking, but I think he hangs on until an attractive upper tier Big Ten gig comes around.   Not an Illinois or a Purdue, but a Wisconsin/MSU/Ohio/PennSt type gig presents itself.    I may be crazy.    If Dantonio went to an LSU or a Texas or whatever, I could see PJ going to East Lansing.

State is no more a destination gig than Purdue. They've fired tons of coaches in just 3-4 years and coaches have left for other jobs. Considering the recruiting disadvantage vs other teams in the conference, you have to REALLY know what you're doing to not be shitcanned. There's only a handful of programs across the country someone can survive at for a career and not want to leave for better pastures The problem is this - can you go directly from a directional to a blueblood? The old Boise coach went to Washington, but they had to beat Oregon twice, Oklahoma, Georgia. Western will have to schedule and start beating teams like that

That's actually really cool for them - I know we usually reach for the typical names whenever we sit around and guess where GameDay will go, but we forget that sometimes they've gone to some less conventional locations. All the same, there's a good story in WMU's season and it will be interesting to see the show they put on there.

it is great for Western, those players and for Fleck,  A nice reward for their accomplishments.

It is also great to see ESPN going to a non-Power 5 conference,  Give the MAC a little love.

God bless em.... how about Michigan beats Indiana, then that will be a good day.

Note: I'm a Central grad, so my love for Western is non existent. As a Kalamazoo native who went to high school literally across the street from Western, I'm happy for the city. As a rabid Michigan fan, I really only care about the game being played on Ann Arbor.

they had to go to Kzoo this week so they can be in Cbus next week.  With wins next week, 11-1 M vs 11-1 OSU is essentially a round of 16 game.
