Gameday open thread: your picks

What do the players do during a bye week? Yesterday, after morning practice, Desmond Morgan drove back to Holland to say a few words to a crowd of 2,200-2,500 during his high school's Homecoming Assembly. He got quite the welcome following a video clip of some of his high school highlights along with his interception against UCONN. It's great to see Wolverines that are always willing to give back and not forget where they came from. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4tjonTiqRw&feature=youtu.be

was back here in Picktown watching his Panthers trounce Bobbie Carpenter's father's Gales 38-6.

We won't lose, but it will be hairy until the final minutes, and we will all feel a mixture of relief and dread for the next matchup. If we play like this again next week . . .

Some of the Massey predictions:
- Oklahoma gets an estimated 58% probability to beat ND
- Alabama is getting 94% against Ole Miss
- LSU is their dog against Georgia at only 31% for the Tigers
- South Carolina has an estimated 66% shot against UCF
- Wisconsin is the decided "unfavorite" against the Buckeyes at 39%
- Purdue is being given only 43% against Northern Illinois.

It would be more of an upset of Purdue won I think. Safe money is on NIU
September 28th, 2013 at 10:21 AM ^
The last three will be spot on
Those are my picks

I'm thinking ND beats Oklahoma, but otherwise that feels right. Kind of hope Wiscy can pull the upset, but the only way I see it is if they can get a strong early lead and then force a suspect OSU defense to deal with their running game.

And I bet Bama and Ohio State blow the doors off their respective opponents

"Gators wear jean shorts" is my sign pick though that's from somewhat limited viewing.
ND will win at home vs Stoops' Boomer Sooner.
Bama will roll Ole Miss
I'm picking the upset of UCF over South Carolina.
Ohio I think takes care of business tonight
I'd like to see RR and Arizona beat a good looking Washinton team.
September 28th, 2013 at 10:04 AM ^
ND over OK; Bama smokes Ole Miss; OSU narrowly over Wisky; UW in a tight one over AZ; Cocks over UCF.
Bowling Green beats Akron, driving a portion of the fanbase even deeper into a funk.

Georgia, Wisconsin, Arizona (GO RICH ROD!!), Boomer Sooner, Bama, UCF.

I struggle between what I think will happen and what I want to happen.
I want ND to lose ... just because they're ND. And I want to see OSU lose to Wisconsin.
I think ND will lose, but it will be a close game. And I think OSU beats Wisconsin by 10.
I like Georgia in the LSU game. That'll be a hell of a game.
Alabama dispatches Ole Miss. I don't think this will end up close at all.
The game of local interest to me (I live in Tucson) is Arizona at Washington. First real test for the Wildcats. It's uptempo spread vs. uptempo spread. UA's defense with Casteel at the helm is fair. But I think Washington takes this one.

I think Ok beats ND by 10-14 points. That ND D has not looked at all impressive.

Also, hope Johnny Football drops 5 TDs on Beavis today.

God I'm really sick of hearing about Mettenberger and his emotional return. Nothing tragic happened -- the guy is fucking scum who got kicked off the team for sexual battery. Stop pimping this storyline ESPN -- it's bad enough you have have Ray Lewis on your NFL shows.
September 28th, 2013 at 10:57 AM ^
Bama big over Ole Miss
OSU big over the Badgers
Bulldogs nick the Tigers
Oklahoma wins a messy game against the Irish. Both teams have 2+ turnovers
S. Carolina wins comfortably
UDub beats Zona

in what I see as possibly the best game of the day, but I expect the home team to win, with both Miller and Guiton playing for the Buckeyes.
NIU beats Purdue.
Clemson crushes Wake Forest.
Alabama wins easy over Ole Miss. Saban never loses these games.
LSU and its new-fangled offense beats Georgia.
Iowa outlasts Minnesota, which is totally one-dimensional.
I want the Irish to beat Oklahoma for the sake of Michigan. But I think the Sooners win.
Arizona State beats USC. Just a hopeful choice.

Watching Gameday and they just showed the Zach Mettenberger piece about his falling out at Georgia and his return to football at LSU.
So.... I didn't know anything about his history. I got curious. I googled him. I ran upon his wikipedia entry:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zach_Mettenberger
Anyone else find something odd in his College Career section? I lol'd...

Well... nevermind someone has already edited it. Originally it said:
"... pled guilty to raping two hoes in a bar like Big Ben"
Now reads:
"pled guilty to two sexual misconduct charges stemming from an incident at a bar"
Anyway... back to the football.

Notre Dame
Alabama
Washington
Ohio State
South Carolina
LSU

ND, 'bama, Washington, Ohio (jumps early and puts Wisky in a bind), the Ole Ball Coach and LSU. I'm not a believer in either LSU or Georgia, though I feel like I'm closer to believing in LSU than the Bulldogs.

They're wearing 100% yellow get-ups today. Yellow pants. Yellow jerseys. Yellow helmets. They looks like a bunch of school buses

More important, the Gophs over IA hicks. I'm going to that game. Kill will have the team more than ready.

September 28th, 2013 at 2:07 PM ^
Didn't they play OSU really tough last year? They already beat Penn State this year and they beat Akron 38-7. They will be the only team to test Louisville until the bowl probabaly.
