Gameday / Early Games Open Thread
The blog returns. Gameday is in Fargo. All of the noon games are boring. Actually Minnesota takes on San Jose State which features David Fales, a QB with legit NFL prospects. Will be interesting to see Minnesota against it's first non-abysmal competition. Upset watch in Minneapolis

No speed at WR or RB, mediocre defense, and a lackluster QB.

With that said...this was a very good win for them, with back up QB starting they mauled a decent SJSU team. For Minnesota that is solid progress.

True. That said, this game and Ohio's blowout of FAMU is not making me feel any better about Michigan's performance last week. Minnesota has come back from halftime and taken over the game against a team that has some positives. Michigan didn't do that, and it is making me depressed the more I think about it.
I hate being that guy. I just want to see our guys dismantle UConn tonight so that it will cleanse the palate. I really can't handle another game like Akron...
(I was at The Horror and The Horror II. I may have college football PTSD...)

Let's not forget that we did demolish Central, 59-9. Our entire season is not summed up by the Akron game.

True enough. And, again, tonight's game could help make it a distant memory where only the fact we got the win matters.
See, I still have hope. :)

about whether our coaching staff really has this team heading upward, or if we can look forward to another season of struggling in every game. Other Big Ten teams are clearly improving...if we aren't, expect a mediocre 7-5/8-4 finish and a lot of excuses from the Hoke/Mattison lovers here.

but they didn't look particularly good today. Just ran the ball over and over and over and over. QB play was kind of bad. I hope we're both undefeated when we meet in 2 weeks. Should be a good reasonably-hyped game that we should win easily

I'd kill to run the ball over and over and over like that and win like they did. I'm not sure where that is a negative.

Epic tilt, that would be.

Whatever you do Beth, don't let an exciting play on the field interrept your pointless, droning , narrative.

Had a 4th down pass in the endzone get nearly picked and it bounced off the Marshall DBs hands and right to the VT WR. 21-21 now with about 3 mins left

21-21 on ESPNU right now. Marshall just completed a huge pass on 3rd & 13. 1st down at the VT 38 with 2 mins to go

Almost 900 yards of offense now in the Minnesota / San Jose State game. Nearly half of it is David Fales, and another third of it is Mitch Leidner, who has a very Big Ten name, now that I think about it.

This has the look of a Rees gonna Rees bumbling stupid game by ND, and MSU will somehow come out on top
