Game to Watch Tonight Pittsburgh vs Washington

There was a time long ago where when these two teams played each other nobody really seemed to care because of how bad the Capitals were. Now with a powerful offensive line with superstar Alexander Ovechkin the Capitals find themselves in 1st place in the Eastern Conference and lead their division in the Southeast. However they are going up against the defending Stanley Cup Champions, Pittsburgh Penguins. The team that beat them last year in the Eastern Conference semifinals in 7 games to go on to play Carolina. Sidney Crosby and Ovechkin however aren't exactly found of each other. Both of the players posses amazing talent and skill and have a rivalry between each other. Both have been involved in scraps before and aren't afraid to drop the gloves if the tension get's too high. Pittsburgh is at home tonight in Mellon Arena. Tonight will be a great chance to see two of the NHL's best go head to head. In Red Wing news the Wings are away tonight in Minnesota looking to put an end to their 3 game losing streak. Each of the 3 games Detroit has lost have only been by a goal. They lost a thriller to Chicago on Sunday in a 4th round shootout 4-3. Then lost to the Stars the next night to lose in a another shoot out 3-2. Then two nights ago lost to the Capitals by only a goal, 3-2. A win against the Wild tonight would stop the slump and help Detroit in the Central giving them 58 points if they can beat Minnesota at the XCEL Center.

One of the more interesting side notes about the Pens-Caps game: for the first time ever going into any of their match ups Crosby leads Ovechkin in goals and Ovechkin leads Crosby in points.

Actually, the Wings played the Stars, then the Hawks, but I'm just nitpicking. Also, you probably meant that Ovechkin and Crosby aren't "fond" of each other. Other than that I wish the NHL had a better TV contract so I could keep an eye on Pitt-Wash.

This is going to be a great rivalry for a long time to come. I think that it's going to be an Eastern Conference version of Wings vs. Avs from the '90s. Both teams are already very good and have lots of bright years ahead of them.
