Game Threads Turning into RCMB
Definitely a disappointing game, but games like this sometimes happen. They can't miss a 3 and we cant buy one. Beilein is a great coach, and our players have been stepping up all year. Nobody thought we'd be tied for first in the Big Ten after Mitch went down. Sometimes, you just have to try to get better and make the best out of a game like this.
Instead, we have embarassing posters all over the game thread calling specific players awful, embarassing, sucking shit -- one guy said Michigan should just get off the court about 3 minutes into it. When did this board turn into RCMB? I sort've understand the angst in football since we haven't been consistently good in years (one good year, not consistently good) but our basketball team won a Big Ten title in 2012 and went to the Championship Game last year. We have a bad first half during a regular season game and suddenly our kids are all shit and an embarassment to the University? How fucking spoiled is this board? Michigan Basketball has performed well above expectations for 3 straight years, stop acting like you are entitled to win every game played and if we don't that means the kids can go to hell.

This is normal when the team is losing. I don't think it's is ok to trash the players, but it happens.
It is a good this WiseGuy isn't in the thread. He flames the players even when the team is wining.

the players are going to be bashed. They can deal with it. They are not kindergarteners. Obviously tweeting them or whatever is completely not okay but saying Stauskus and GRIII are sucking, on a random internet open thread, is not as outrageous as you're trying to make it.

The players do not give two fucks if some stupid internet poster says they suck. So why do you get your panties in a bunch over it? This is sports. People are going to get mad when the players for their favorite teams suck. You're the one bitching and moaning about other people bitching and moaning.
I wasn't even bashing anyone until the self-righteous, holier-than-thou preachers came out in full force in respone to a few people complaining about Michigan getting their asses handed to them by a mediocre Iowa team.

If you're really "pissed off" becasue some 18-21 year old guys throwing a ball at a basket aren't doing it like you think they should; I'd say that's pretty unreasonable.
Iowa is a good team. We beat them when we were on fire from 3; and the tables were turned today. If that really upsets you so much; I feel for you.

It's just that the insinuation that any fan cares more than the players/coaches do is complete bullshit. I really really really wanted Michigan to win the game today; but does it ruin my day if they don't? Not at all.
Now is Nik's day ruined or Coach B's? Absolutely.
So yeah; as an adult I DO think you should keep a cool head when posting on a message board. And I WILL lose respect for you and/or call you out when I think you're being an idiot. And you're certainly free to act like a tough guy in respose.

First, you have no idea how each kid takes this stuff. In fact, we know that some are sensitive about it (Smotrycz, for example), and I would have been sensitive about public criticism at that age, too.
Second, the broader point is that it's a little ridiculous to publicly shit all over a group that's clearly overachieving because of a bad game. Bad games happen.
I think there are many, many ways to be critical and analytical without being a dick.

I hate this "no effort" argument from people watching at home. No, the team is being beat; that doesn't mean they aren't trying. To equate one with the other is simplistic and insulting to them.

Bball game thread antics usually go away within 24 hours. In football, we have threads 2 months later about how people are selling their season tickets and how Devin Gardner should transfer. The real shit fans occur in football but most of them are level headed. It's a loud minority.

In a game like this, I think you have to expect people to do some venting.
That was the worst half of the season. It went way beyond Marble being hot. We're not competing out there. Iowa gets an open look on one swing pass, and also manages to get inside position for the rebound. Hard to win when you don't rotate on defense or box out. And then on offense we're standing around, waiting for Caris to save us one-on-one. I don't think this is what JB's gameplan looked like.
We don't have a shitty team, but we're playing like it, which is all the more annoying.

Lol if you think our threads are as bad as the RCMB. When a player is playing like shit (GR3) is there something wrong with pointing that out? I didn't see anybody threatening him or anything. Just saying he's playing like shit. Yes, SHIT. I use the word SHIT when I'm ANGAR.
