being created by Craft pushing off on Burke, and Robinson's block looked clean.
Game Thread? Game Thread.
He was leaning in and puching at Burke.
Could have called Burke with the body or THJ with the hack. To deny it was a foul is to deny reality. I'm just glad it was Craft on the other end of the no call. He has made a living out of the "let them play" mentality but certainly deserves to have more fouls called on him.
again. And it was Robinson with the block not THJ. The block itself was definatly clean, all ball. In no way shape or form was that a hack.
and knowing that a bunch of Ohio fans will be going to bed pissed off tonight, means this guy is going to bed with a smile on his face. Beating Ohio is always sweet.
Craft gets away with obscene amounts of contact. Seems fitting.
So the refs were afraid to call a flagrant foul because it would "determine" the outcome. I thought their job was to call the game according to the rules. Would be wise if the refs got back to that and did it the whole game.
But damn disappointed in how many fair weathered pussies came out of the wood work on the board tonight. Those of you slamming Burke and the other Michigan players and coaches are welcome to jump off the band wagon as fast as you jumped on.
I don't know of a fan who hasn't been upset with a player or a play at a certain point. You wouldn't be making this post had Michigan lost.
with the last second play calling. definitely could have cost us the game
call. Three freshman on the floor the majority of the game for us. There will be mistakes.
Yes, because, as a fan you are never in a position where you are disappointed or even downright angry at your favorite team and maybe, in a heated battle with an archrival, you go a little overboard with the pessimism.
I get the whole don't put the kids on blast thing, but saying "FUUUCKKKK, why is GR3 disappearing" is a common reaction to the kid not playing well.
Being disappointed at times comes with the territory. But go back and read some of the comments again. They were not nearly as innocuous as your example. Curious how many of the more vicious personal attacks would be uttered while in the stands in Ann Arbor. People "keeping it real" like that might get their ass whooped.
It's easy to to be supportive when you're up comfortably. It's the hallmark of a front runner. It takes guts to cheer, to cheer even harder when you're down and things look grim. I'm glad the team showed more character than several posters here tonight.
*Hands rock to throw in glass house.* Seriously. Go be a message board guardian somewhere else.
You're simply a hater. Seriously.
Contact? Sure. Was that a flagrant? Sure. Did Craft get a phantom 3 call? Yes.
How much do I love that even Coach B doesn't say Ohio State
"Get the F##k off my court"!
Burke rode Craft! Craft does the same thing and it's good defense.
Also, why no Hardaway is not just a shooter.
Sorry for the length of this but I am so confused, I have read on so many blogs and been to so many site's and even read on this site people praising Aaron "The Hack" Craft (as I refer to him) for being such a great defender while many times in the same post admitting that he is a foul machine that basically gets away with murder or putting it in a very PC manner describing Mr.Hack as a "hands on", "very physical" player?? Dick Vitale almost made my ears bleed tonight talking about how great a defender Craft is to stay in front of Burke and others while the TV screen is showing The Hack impeding the progress of Burke and any other offensive player with his hands and upper body EVERYTIME. Look almost anyone and - ANYONE who is talented enough to play D1 BBall - can play great defense when they are allowed to use their hands to "body up" and slow down the opposing player’s progress - That is not good defense that is ILLEGAL defense that should draw a foul EVERYTIME. If anyone else would consistently play like that they would foul out 5 defensive possessions into the game. So I know I am preaching to the choir here but NO Craft is not great, Craft is a hack, he is a player that for some reason beyond my comprehension is allowed to do continuously what no one else in the game is allowed to do. The one thing about I will give to The Hack is that he has heart and competitiveness, and seems to be a pretty honest guy, when asked what the key to his defense is, from what I understand he said that he just fouls the other player on every play, stating "they can't call a foul on every play." Well I can admire his honesty and how hard he plays, but to praise him for being such a great defender, is to praise the guy that gets away with robbing the corner store at gunpoint - for being such a Smart Shopper.
Once again sorry for the length - just had to get that off my chest -
Yep, let's focus on Craft first, even though his team lost.
Burke played above his season average in FG% and assists (and possibly others, but I didn't look) and was 2 points below his season average, and yet ESPN and Vitale can't get off of Craft's nuts.
How many times did he call Burke and THJ the best backcourt in the country and Burke one of his 7 best players in the country?
I feel like those two comments and Craft for best defensive player in the country is all Vitale said all night.
It was just on repeat.
More efforts on the boards and defensive end is key, finally started playing tougher right at the end, but also need to have a better go to play than Burke iso hero plays as calls coming out of time outs and at the end of halfs/game
Remember we were missing our best defensive big man against a team that pounds the boards.
Hell out of A2, we don't want you here. I will make sure Barton Hills reviews this game.
The Big Ten's kinda tough, no?
Way to go Blue and Fuck Craft & ESPN. What a joke that ESPN is crying over no foul being called after they spent all that time crying about what a shame it would be if golden boy Craft got called for a flagrant for hitting GRIII in the head.
ESPN has been a joke for years. I watch almost everything either muted or while listening to the radio coverage on iheart. The Monday night football coverage is awful. College football is ok if you're on the main station if on U or 2 you get hackjob announcers. Sportscenter is a comical shadow of what it once was.
The whole station sucks.
Completely agree. I boycotted espn a long time a go, as have many of my friends.
Man, that win was as ugly as I've seen in a long time, but I'll take it. This game was the definition of must win, from a conference title standpoint as well as a morale standpoint. Could absolutely not afford to lose to these guys again, and if we hadn't, I'd be very concerned about coming out flat against Wisconsin and getting blown out, as well as against MSU.
Got to hand it to Craft, the guy is an amazing defender. Contained Burke all night as he usually does.
I hear ya. Wow.
No joke. I dropped the f-bomb in front of my wife. Not a good look.
LUPA LICIOUS time!
Your over reacting. We lead the country in not getting fouls called on us.
So what was the previous thread record?
We kicked ass and chewed bubble gum with this here thread!
Craft this, Craft that. Jeez Dickie V, why don't you go slap dicks with him.
The Wolverines scrapped to the end.
Tirico and Vitale blow. I turned the volume off.
mcgary for keeping it close in the first half and
thj for keeping it close in the second half and
burke for closing it out with his D
A tough spot for a freshman, but that's the second big game in a row GR3 has faded a bit under the pressure. I wouldn't mind a lack of offense if he was playing well defensively, but it seems like people were getting by him with relative ease and when he was being posted up he allowed his man to spin to the base line far too many times. He also had a play where he missed an easy short jumper, made a great play to get the ball back, and then jumped back into the mass of humanity under the net only to have the ball barely get above his shoulders (not surprisingly) instead of kicking it out to anyone standing on the arc for either an open 3 or to set up a new play. Not why his plays stick out in my mind so much, but hopefully he uses these past two games to get better. He has all the tools needed to be great.
A phenominal job from Mitch, Tim, Burke, and the rest of the boys. What a win.
Bielien said the team needs to play tougher during one of the time outs and I think he's spot on (yes, I know the coach does not need my validation). I think we're too soft on D and not aggressive enough on O, which is why we get so few calls.
Also, damn OSU has some athletes on the front court; I'd like some of that! Will be so good to have Morgan back and I'd be interested in seeing Morgan and Horford/McGary out at same time against big teams.
Fuck Ohio, Fuck Craft, Fuck Dick Vitale.
On to Wisconsin. Go Blue!
Was hoping to pull ahead while we up by 10 but such a needed win
I feel like we looked bad, but looking at the box score, both teams just looked really good I think.
Edit: Way too many second-chance points for OSU, and it feels like we got outrebounded like crazy.
Yeah, Ohio is pretty good and craft plays insane D when he gets us. Like even more insane than his normal "really good D." The kids going to be really good in Europe.
Did I miss anything?
ohio exploited the inside game, all game; IU did the same. That may prove problematic in the NCAAs. THJ was the diference tonight, but we need a stronger inside game. Horford, Morgan and MMG have foul and rebound opportunities. We need to exploit those conjunctivively with FT shot conversion and pressure D leading to transision baskets.
