Game Plans

Submitted by icefins26 on

Alright 'folks.  We are going on 24 hours until kickoff.  Enough bullshit about predictions, who said what, how fat Charlie Weis is, etc.  What is everyone doing for the game?  What are you eating?  What are you drinking?

For me, I'm plopping in a chair for 7-8 hours at a bar in Grand Rapids with some friends.

My fiancee's parents were nice enough to bring me some Yuengling back from their trip to Pittsburgh.

Not the best beer, but still delicious, a great staple of the East Coast, and from the oldest brewery in AMERICUHH!

Really, honestly cannot wait for this game.  We'll be tailgating with the normal tailgating fare.  Brats, burgers, chili, various snack items and lots of beer.  I'll probably be breaking open some Leinie's Oktoberfest seeing as it's going to feel like a crisp fall day out there.  Should be some epic tailgating and we'll be cheering our hearts out inside that stadium.  Watching Dilithium in person is going to be the sweetest thing.

Ingredients

How to make it

  • Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium-low heat. Slowly cook and stir the onion until tender. Mix in the garlic, jalapeno, green chile peppers, cumin, oregano and cayenne. Continue to cook and stir the mixture until tender, about 3 minutes. Mix in the chicken broth, chicken and white beans. Simmer 15 minutes, stirring occasionally
  • .
  • Remove the mixture from heat. Slowly stir in the cheese until melted. Serve warm.

But I'm taking out the "White Beans" from above and adding in Great Northern Beans, Black Beans, and Corn, and then also adding a jar or 2 of salsa (not sure on the salsa) from a recipe I got from another poster. (MGoKev)

I will once again be stuck at a wedding reception during the game (same as last week).  This time, however, my wife and her blackberry will not be with me and the wedding is in southern Ohio so fat chance of getting a tv tuned to NBC.  So I need to convice my wife to give up her crackberry for a day and a half so I can at least listen to IT on iheartredio.  Otherwise, I will have to watch it later that night after already knowing the outcome which takes a lot of the fun out of it - I plan on watching it later regardless, but I would prefer to listen to it live first.

So, if anyone has any ideas of ways to bribe crackberryaholic to give up her drug, I am up for suggestions and running out of time.

And, yes, it will be a white trash wedding.  BUSCH LIGHT FOR EVERYBODY!!!!!!!

You are agreeing to a whole crapload of this stuff for your wife. I mean, you want to be a good, giving husband, but if this is not family, and I mean CLOSE family, you are well within your rights to sit it out. And I would. She's seriously not considering how important M football is to you. And that's honestly not fair.

Mine, sad to say.  Was going to sit it out till my cousin (his wedding) called last week and personally invited me.  Like I said, the wife isn't even going to be there - has to work - which is fine by me - I can drink more - I just want her crackberry - my phone blows.

up towards Detroit at lunch time for a charity walk for Children's Tumor Foundation. After that, we have lunch there. So... hot dogs or whatever they serve.

Then I will be returning home to a fresh 6 pack of Leinenkugel's Oktoberfest. Mmmm...

I unfortunately have to DVR the game and watch at night so I can yell at the television without scaring the sh-t out of my toddler son.

On a related note, for all you DVRers out there, do you have a problem with random a-holes telling you the score of the Michigan game during the day while you're out and about in Michigan gear?  I wear a Michigan t-shirt on game day and it never fails that some f-er comes up to me and says something about the game before I've had a chance to watch it.  I know I invite it with the Michigan shirt, but why do people have to approach me!??

You sir, are a man among boys.  That's what most normal people would do, right?  Its amazing how people just feel they need to strike up a conversation about Michigan when I wear my alumni shirt.  This lady came up to me last weekend and told me the 21-3 first half score when the game was still being played!  She didn't say hello or ask if I went to Michigan or anything - just came out and said "so far so good, its 21-3."  I flipped out on her and told her I was taping it and she just ruined it for me.  Then I felt bad for getting mad at her.  But really, what the f- is wrong with people!?

I'll watch the first half in beautiful HD,  then play a little football with my kids at halftime. Then we'll have a little victory barbecue, then play a little more football with the kids as we re-enact all the great plays by Denard and co.

Living in Ohio makes it hard to go out and enjoy the game due to scum of the earth Buckeye fans.  Plus the Buckeye game falls at the same time as our game. Going to grill out some dogs and drink some beers at the house. Watch Dilithium ruin ND and hopefully watch the U crush the bucknuts.

I plan to be in South Bend tomorrow.  Traditional pregame walk around campus to check out the sights -- Fair Catch Moses, Touchdown Jesus, the Grotto, the Golden Dome, the concert on the steps the players walking out of the chapel and the band concert on the steps.  Then the Joyce Center for a pregame brats and beers and finally off to the Stadium to watch D-Rob shred the Irish D.  Should be a great day.  I am Pumped!
