Is it not Urban and others?
November 18th, 2011 at 3:33 PM ^
For one thing, we have lost both games they did, with and without Urban himself. Also, they'lll talk about Urban going to OSU for three hours.
I'd rather have ...gulp...McDonough and Millen than Spielman/Urban/Pasch. I like McDonough and Millen is just a tool, but Urban and Spielman are way too dry for me. I'd prefer Brad Nessler and whoever, but I'm not sure if he's still working for ESPN. He did the Broncos game on the NFL Network last night.
November 18th, 2011 at 3:36 PM ^
"Urban Meyer & Co." sounds like a law firm or CPA firm. I didn't even think of that until I read my post again.
November 18th, 2011 at 3:37 PM ^
Call me crazy but I would prefer to have Spielman and Urban. I learn a ton from those guys during the broadcast, from observations about defensive alignments from Spielman to offensive playcalling from Urban. I just block out the play-by-play guy.
November 18th, 2011 at 3:51 PM ^
Your crazy.
They actually may be better but I feel like they jinx Michigan with too much OSU mojo when they are in the booth. I don't want them. I just turn down the volume on the TV and listen to the radio.
November 18th, 2011 at 3:53 PM ^
You're*

Wow. A lot of people try to hide how dumb they are. Not many come right out and announce it by saying they think people "jinx" Michigan with "OSU mojo."
Better call Miss Cleo again and make sure she gave you the right tarot card.
November 18th, 2011 at 3:39 PM ^
are easily the best color commentators working today.
November 18th, 2011 at 3:52 PM ^
Spielman is very good. Meyer is nothing special.
November 18th, 2011 at 4:23 PM ^
I like Meyer because he is extremely well spoken and he knows what the hell he is talking about. Some color commentators like to pretend they know what they're talking about, but they don't. Meyer is a football genius.
November 18th, 2011 at 4:20 PM ^
you no like Pam Ward?
November 18th, 2011 at 4:22 PM ^
I like Meyer, Speilman, and Herbstreit the best.
November 18th, 2011 at 5:58 PM ^
make us all ill somehow. It's not right ...
November 18th, 2011 at 3:43 PM ^
Yeah can't wait for them both ( urban and big chris) to criticize us every time we take a snap from under center. I mean, they're right but they act like they're the first to discover that denards better out of the shot gun.
November 18th, 2011 at 3:50 PM ^
They will not talk about the Urban/OSU rumors for three seconds let alone three hours.
You have no idea how the WWL rolls, do you? They protect their own and savagely attack all outsiders.
November 18th, 2011 at 4:31 PM ^
I feel like I am one of few who are terrified of Urban going to ohio?!
November 18th, 2011 at 6:11 PM ^
who did you think they were going to hire? tOSU was always going to get a high profile coach. we have Mattison who went up against Urban in practice every day for years. worry not good sir.
November 18th, 2011 at 3:36 PM ^
Pasch, Spielman, Meyer, Kessenich
Tirico might be calling Maui? Or is just hanging out since he lives here.
November 18th, 2011 at 3:40 PM ^
Bring urban meyer so he can see what hoke has done at michigan and will have second thaughts of coming to coach tSIO
November 18th, 2011 at 3:48 PM ^
It's thoughts.
November 18th, 2011 at 4:45 PM ^
Thaughts=thoughts with an attitude.
I approve.
November 18th, 2011 at 3:43 PM ^
several years. I will take Pam Ward over Spielman straight up (I know, one does "color," the other play-by-play). Spielman just sounds like the know-it-all but often wrong kid who even made your parents throw up when he visited in 7th grade. McDonough is okay, but Millen is now a fully outed idiot* who should be evaluating Candadian h.s. football for the Argonauts. Meyer just so clearly doesn't want to be there. . .
almost laughed out of the TV studio after his dim-bulb comments on MSU's thuggery
November 18th, 2011 at 3:50 PM ^
You are clearly demented. Anyone who would prefer Pam Ward over anybody else is absolutely insane. If Pam Ward calls the game tomorrow, I don't know what I would do with myself. Probably mute the TV. Then fight back the urge to gouge out my eyes anytime he/she/it appears on the screen.
November 18th, 2011 at 4:10 PM ^
Did you really say you would rather listen to Pam Ward over anyone, let alone Spielman (who actually knows football)? I'll assume that was a misprint. Otherwise, I will seriously question your judgment from here on out.
November 18th, 2011 at 3:43 PM ^
I'm going to be at the game so the only announcer I'm going to hear is Carl Grapentine.
Baaaaaaannnnnnd Take the Field!
November 18th, 2011 at 4:27 PM ^
I immediately heard the drum cadence playing in my head after I read "take the field." Love it.
November 18th, 2011 at 3:44 PM ^
Spielman of late. I'm not to the point of worrying about it, but I don't know that I'd put him on my list of desired announcers.
November 18th, 2011 at 3:48 PM ^
I sortof liked Spielman until recently. I may, however, have been unduly influenced by the former Florida player in my office who spent 15 minutes telling me all the things Spielman misses.
November 18th, 2011 at 3:48 PM ^
I think Spielman is better when it's not your game, as the dude is critical and will say when people make mistakes, which is rare. He's also one of the few guys who care about what is actually going on and not superficial bullshit (hi Craig James!).
November 18th, 2011 at 3:56 PM ^
anyone who worries about who the announcers are, for the record.
I really don't give two shits who announces any game I watch. They don't take away or add one iota of enjoyment or disappointment from any game in particular I've ever watched. In fact, I don't even think about them till I see them pre-game. Then I say to myself "huh, it's that chick that sounds like a dude and that guy that looks like a giant thumb". Then immediately forget about them.
Again, I stress that I'm not dogging anyone for rending garments and heaping ashes because one person or another is or isn't announcing a game. I'm just adding my little (useless?) tidbit to the discussion.
November 18th, 2011 at 5:57 PM ^
I would rather mute the TV and listen to Ufer's greatest hits. Too bad I never got the chance to listen to Ufer live. The ultimate homer...
Not a fan of the 3-person team... too distracting.
November 18th, 2011 at 3:56 PM ^
I don't care as long as it's not Pam Ward
November 18th, 2011 at 3:57 PM ^
All recovered from my adventures with month old roast beef, I'll be back in full form (yes this means drinking) in the liveblog tomorrow.
November 18th, 2011 at 3:59 PM ^
I feel Michigan football should have its own hired football announcers for television. I hate that we continually get that girl announcer or people who don't even know the names of our players.
November 18th, 2011 at 4:27 PM ^
Or people who think 60% of the Big Ten is 6 teams.
November 18th, 2011 at 4:24 PM ^
If ABC/ESPN knew what was good for them they'd spare no expense in jacking Gus Johnson from CBS. While I love him in March, I'd rather see him calling M football than any of these other hooligans.
November 18th, 2011 at 4:30 PM ^
Denard takes the snap. DENARD THROUGH THE HOLE!! DENARD DOWN THE SIDELINE!! OHHH MYYYY WHAT A RUN BY DENARD ROBINSON!!
November 18th, 2011 at 4:32 PM ^
Gus works for Fox now. So is off the tournament anyway. But it's 50/50 (with the PAC-12) we get him for the Big Ten title game every year
November 18th, 2011 at 4:44 PM ^
Fox??? What is he gonna call on fox? That's a little disappointing. And I don't get it, is he either going to do the Pac or Big Ten title game as well as work for Fox?
November 18th, 2011 at 5:31 PM ^
Fox has the rights to both title games. You can hear Gus call noon Big 12 games on FX most Saturdays.
November 18th, 2011 at 4:27 PM ^
I am in the I can't stand listening to him boat. It's not lack of insight, it's that he says the same shit over and over and I just don't like his commentating style. He seems really aggresive/obnoxious with trying to get his point across. Sometimes I get the feeling Meyer wants to smack him.
November 18th, 2011 at 4:33 PM ^
He's repetitive because Pasch commits to a narrative in the first five minutes and never shuts up about it. With a better play by play guy, Spielman is less repetitive.
November 18th, 2011 at 11:37 PM ^
i'm having a hard time believing that people actually think spielman and meyer are any good at all. i think they're horrible, especially meyer. of course, if you like spending half of the game listening to them talk about how they don't understand why devin gardner is in the game then i guess they're the go to crew.
