The Tigers are going to get this done, then go make some WS history.
Game 4 World Series open thread. Show some pride Tigers!!!
I agree no team has ever come back from down 3-0. But somebody has to be the first. Lets GO Tigers!!!
One team has come back from an 0 - 3 deficit ('04 Red Sox) to win. However, that was not in the World Series.
Sorry I wasn't clear. I meant in the world series not just the play offs.
Lets goooo tigers
This a horrible time for my cable to start cutting in and out!
you should probably be evacuating.
Can't win four until you win one.
If we do somehow manage to win the next two it will interesting to see how the Giants respond to the pressure of being ahead instead of behind. In ever series they've been in so far they've been the team down and down big. Let's see how they handle prosperity.
Let's start by just getting a run, then we'll go from there and see if we can win a game.
That looked fair!!
You're watching THAT over the World Series!?!?
He's made it clear numerous times he hates baseball, yet he continues to click on the Tigers playoff threads.
Clearly the middle of the lineup needs to provide even half of the run support they are capable of. Go Tigers!
Crowd is pumped. Hopefully that can bring some life to the Tiger bats.
Hope the Tigers believe too. This game goes scoreless into late innings they may just start hanging their heads again.
Is looking sharp.
Talk about talking too soon.
Anybody got a stream to the game?
All they have to do is hit today and get a win
They win 2-1 or 3-1, and then have Verlander going Game 5, it's a series again
But they have to stop playing from behind, and they're already down 1-0
Biggest players are choking in the WS. This drives me nuts seriously I'm losing my mind over why Miggy and Fielder cannot hit.
Quick rules question. I noticed that Young is standing on first base instead of going into the dugout after his at bat. Does anybody know why that happened? Did he make the other players mad so they're making him stand out there by himself?
I cant remember seeing Tigers standing out on the bases this series before so I wasnt sure what happened.
but they always give them that call anyway. You really just have to be in the vicinity of the bag as you're turning it.
She provides no insight on the game she is pointless
but hot. I miss her on ESPN
Each of our 20+ million dollar men have looked like chumps. Might as well have put in Rayburn and Schlereth.
I see ya Miggy!
A lead and the first positive thing to happen to the team in four games. If anybody is going to lead the Tigers out of this hole they've dug it has to Miggy.
Oh the wind did it? You mean we had some luck go OUR way for once? If someone complains... even a little bit... you gonna getcho ass beat. Erin, don't even...
That inning... what the hell
The guy wearing the Marlins jersey behind the plate is back? Wasn't that in SF? Wut.
He showed up
He confuses me thoroughly.
Baseball can be very streaky.
If there's a team that can come back from 3-0, it's these Tigers.
But, they gotta stop swinging noodles.
Scherzer's got a pair of nuts on him to go after Sandoval on a full count like that. Love it.
Posey finally shows up and it's at the worst time for the Tigers. Shiiiiiiiiiit.
Aaaand then he feeds Posey a cheeseburger.
Buster, come on, you're killing me
I like Buster Posey, but why do we have to play him and why can't he just stay quiet and not make me conflicted? Fuck.
The usual places aren't working.... Anyone know of anything?
Delmon continues to be far more productive than Fielder in the postseason, who would have thought that?
Let's go tigers
This game is going to shorten my life span.
going to come down to the bullpens for each team and i dont like our chances there
If valverde comes in I quit on Jim Leyland forever
Risky move by Leyland going to Smyly again but he does his job along with Dotel and were still locked at 3. Any fly ball that is hit to RF has a chance for a HR so hopefully some of the batters try going the opposite way.
Sweet Jesus a DP, thank you baseball gods!
before something happens. Tiger fans too quiet otherwise>
If I hadn't already mentally accepted the series loss
I think you nailed it. Normally I would be pacing right now. Still, the Tigers are going to make this as gut-wrenching as possible for us, which I guess is extremely fitting given how this entire season has played out.
Prince really making his $ this postseason, smh he's in a deep funk.
any one know why only Fox's talent can sing the national anthem in Detroit? I thought Aretha was supposed to sing Game 3. Not that she would have sounded any good, but at least it's Detroit. Half waiting to see Adam Lambert tomorrow.
Don't think they'll need to worry about tomorrow
If (when) we lose this series, it's gonna be on Cabrera/Fielder. They've been almost silent the whole series. Striking out back-to-back in a tie game in the 8th? Jeebus....
most will still blame it on Leyland.
Fat ass Fielder is choking and gagging all over the place. His big chance in a World Series and he's hitting like a big puss.
The best at bat in the 8th was the rookie. 3,4,5 hitters shit the bed. Congrats to SF, hope the champaign is on ice. This is gonna suck
He's been nothing short of remarkable this postseason, not only shutting down lefties but getting righties out as well after they had George Brett type of numbers against him all season.
he looks like the winning pitcher. Feel a walk off coming...?
I like Phil Coke, but he spits too much.
Jhonny has made just about the loudest outs you can make tonight, with not a whole ton to show for it.
Hah you beat me to it, seriously he's hit the ball on the screws 3 times tonight and have an 0fer in the box score.
Jhonny's had the best swings of anyone tonight and has nothing to show for it.
Oh man I thought Jhonny had that one.
All they need to do is score one more run
Then GAme 5 JV
If we get outta the top of ten still 3-3, gotta like our chances. Top of the order comin up...
Edit: forget that statement 4-3
So it was you what jinxed us...
3 more outs in Detroit's season. :(
Well at least we have the Red Wings to look forward to . . .
This is going to be great I've got a good feelin
proud of this team, win or lose.
just peaked one week too soon
Appropriate that Miggy looks to be our last at bat of the year.
Congrats to the Giants! Great season by the Tigers!
Just came by to say fuck everything. I'll leave now.
Just couldn't hit when it matters in the late innings
I don't know how much to blame on the week off
Just hearing Jim and Dan on the radio side was so somber, I'm very sad here. Very sad that the Tigers couldn't get it done
Good luck next season.
Jim sounds like he's on the verge of tears, maybe this was his last year and he's getting replaced by someone more competent, please please please let this be the case.
Sad ending but I'm not going to hate on a team that makes it to the final dance. Hats off to the Giants they were the superior team and they deserved it. Hopefully we'll be back here next year and maybe with a different result.
Balls to that
It was a tough set of losses, but still a good session. I knew when Sandoval hit those three Homers it was going to be that type of series.
Jackson needs to dive for the flyball in the top of the 10th, i mean come on worst case it gets by him and the guy ends up on second or maybe third, which wouldn thave mattered because the next guy got out. Then during his at bat he's just chewing away on tobacco as if its batting practice or something and strikes out on an emberassing swing.
10 feet in front of him
10 feet in front of him
It was 10 feet in front of him because he slowed down after he decided he wasn't going to dive for it
Feel so bad for Mike Ilitch especially, poor guy will probobly never win a world series.
was the Tigers didn't set the lowest batting average in World Series history. At least I think they did, if not well yes, fuck everything
It's kind of absurd how kicking ass the LCS is actually detrimental to your chances in the World Series. And there's really no way to prevent it. It's not like anyone would dare throw a game and extend the series. Year after year, I become more and more convinced that the playoff format for American sports is just ridiculous.
How would you improve it? A 1-game series for baseball would be out of the question. And you can't control how the other team wins it.
That way the longest possible layoff is 3 days,
And a one game series is only out of the question because we are so far off the deep end. Baseball did just fine with a one game series for like, 70 years? So yea.
Another huge factor is that playoffs = $. That's the only reason for these pointless expansions.
Year after year, I become more and more convinced that the playoff format for American sports is just ridiculous.
Didn't the Tigers have the worst record of any team in the playoffs? It's not like they were a colossal favorite that got upset.
Feels numb, man
Tigers season as a whole has to be considered somewhat of a dissapointment, right? Lost 74 games this year in the worst division in baseball after all the hype, barely got into the playoffs and were swept in the World Series. So basically we played well for a 9 game stretch this year in ALDS and ALCS and that's about it...
You have some valid points but I think anytime you make it to the World Series it's a successful season. Let the rosterbation commence! Sign Anibal assuming its not a ludicrous amount (although it will be considering he showed he can pitch in the AL too) get a corner outfielder with power and beef up the bullpen.
Yeah I'm really worried about a team like the Yankees (who have piss-poor starting pitching) throwing the bank at Anibal.
But my offseason would be: sign Sanchez, look at SS, bullpen, call Hamilton? The guy's got issues, but if he could keep it together for a year, then we would have a lineup with Miggy, Fielder, V-Mart, and Hamilton. Filthy filthy filthy.
Oh and says thanks for the ALCS to Delmon, here's your ring now get outta here
I'm actually not worried about the Yankees signing him I read a story a few weeks ago on MLBTR and the Royals were very interested in Anibal and their ownership has stated they were going to spend money on their rotation this off-season.
Totally agree on Delmon, with V-mart coming back he doesn't have a spot on this roster, we'll always have his postseason success against the Yanks and he's basically the anti A-Rod when it comes to the postseason in general.
Please god no on Hamilton, I don't want his endless excuses of quitting chewing tobacco/caffeine/lost contacts for the reasons he went into deep slumps. He's 32 and on the downside of his career he's not worth what the open market will dictate.
Peralta's option is debatable, there is no other SS free agent that's worth a damn so if they get a SS it will have to come via a trade. Bullpen and corner outfielding are the biggest needs IMO.
Dombrowski did a hell of a job patchworking together a team that was much better then the April, May and June Tigers (which were incredibly disappointing).
Infante, Sanchez were great moves and Berry, Garcia were brought up because the guys they were really counting on to play well (Bosch expecially) weren't.
There's no way in May you could have convinced me the Tigers would be here today.
We hav won the pennant 11 times in 111 years. How could this possibly be a disappointment? How we hit in the world series was disappointing. We ran into a hot team. Hopefully with VMart back we're even better next year.
Well that was a good series. Glad my Giants could pull through.
this one, I can't celebrate with the rest of SF. Was not meant to be. I am a sad Tigers fan tonight. (So much for the "perfectly hedged" World Series.)
the Giants. As much as it pains me to say that. Hopefully the Tigers will be back next year. Still a great season, I'm proud to be a Tigers fan..
