Dear Fan,

In the interest of your safety, we wanted to share the following security advisory issued for fans attending tomorrow's game vs. Penn State:

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Fans attending the Nov. 21 Michigan vs. Penn State football game at Beaver Stadium will face additional security screening following last week’s terror attacks in Paris.

While there are currently no known threats against collegiate stadiums, according to the Department of Homeland Security, University leaders have opted to increase security measures for the safety of the public.

Penn State strongly recommends that fans not bring bags into the stadium as all bags that meet thePenn State bag policy will be subject to search.

Along with a larger security presence by law enforcement:

  • Fans are asked to arrive and enter the stadium 30 minutes earlier than normal to accommodate increased security screening at the gates, suite and club entrances. Patrons should be prepared and patient for longer entry time into the stadium.
  • All gates will open at 10:00 a.m., 30 minutes earlier than normal.
  • Fans are reminded that they can enter Beaver Stadium at any gate, other than Gate A.
  • Everyone entering the stadium will be required to open their coats and outerwear. A pat-down by trained male and female security professionals will occur in separate lines at entry points.
  • Some patrons may be asked to empty their pockets at the gate.
  • Except for authorized personnel and those with a medical need, others entering the stadium are encouraged to leave any bags at home or in their car. A clear, 1 gallon, zip-close style plastic bag and wristlets no larger than 4”x 6” x 1” are permitted in Beaver Stadium and fans should be prepared to have these bags inspected at entry.

Suspicious activity or activities out of the ordinary should be reported by calling 911 or University Police at 814-863-1111 or by texting “Nittany” to 69050.

Beaver Stadium parking lots will open Saturday at 7 a.m. The Beaver Stadium ticket office (Gate E) opens at 8 a.m.

Thank you,
Michigan Athletics

If I am reading this correctly, are they going to pat down 100,000 people? Granted, a pat down doesn't take that long but that is a lot of people. You better get in line early!

Last week in Bloomington, the security guy at the gate said they were going to have to thoroughly search me because of what happened in Paris. I had a big coat over a pocketed fleece. I took out whatever was in the right coat pocket and they let me through - not even asking me what was in any of my other 5 pockets or even a pat down. That sort of experience always leaves me a bit uneasy. I'd rather get the pat down so that I know everybody that enters is checked out and thus creating a relatively safe environment.

The IU pat down was a joke the guy was a dick about asking me to show him what I have so I emptied my right pocket and when I went to my left he was on to the next person. The IU guy 3 seats to the left of me had a shit ton of captain shooters and a flask of whiskey

There is no way i would buy tickets to a game where i have to be subjected to professional gropers just to enter. These are public universities FFS. I am not a terrorist and will not be treated like one. In fact, the actual terrorists win when we forfeit our rights and dignity
