Future UM Opponent - UCF: HC Scott Frost introduces new UCF duds for 2016

Submitted by markusr2007 on

On September 10 Michigan hosts Central Florida with new head coach Scott Frost (former QB of Nebraska's 1997 MNC team, and former Oregon OC).

Central Florida will be sporting new duds in Michigan Stadium.

No idea what combo they will pick.  The gold-on-silver helmets do look sharp though:

The most pelagic species, mainly in the 'tubenose' order Procellariiformes, are great wanderers, and the albatrosses of the southern oceans may circle the globe as they ride the "roaring forties" outside the breeding season. The tubenoses spread widely over large areas of open ocean, but congregate when food becomes available. Many are also among the longest-distance migrants; sooty shearwaters Puffinus griseus nesting on the Falkland Islands migrate 14,000 km (8,700 mi) between the breeding colony and the North Atlantic Ocean off Norway. Some Manx shearwaters Puffinus puffinus do this same journey in reverse. As they are long-lived birds, they may cover enormous distances during their lives; one record-breaking Manx shearwater is calculated to have flown 8 million km (5 million miles) during its over-50 year lifespan.

I read that Wiki article on bird migration last night while looking up something for the kids really quick - it did not even occur to be that an article on bird migration could have been written by a koala, or indeed any marsupial. but well done indeed if that was you, MeanJoe. I had no clue you were quite the ornithologist, although I assume the zoo saves on benefits as they don't have to hire you, being a resident of place already.

I've always been quite fond of birds and their behaviors.  I often observed them in the trees as a young joey. I did stay at a zoo for a time until I was able to demonstrate my independence and purchase a treehouse.  I now do some consulting with the Lincoln Park  Zoo.  It's hard to find Eucalyptus in the grocery store obviously so I let them poke my butthole now and then or whatever tests tickles their fancy in exchange for a meal. I also lend my expertise on bird migration when they ask.

When my son was in third grade he did a project on koalas and practiced his oral report on us. It was brief, but memorable for the line, "Koalas eat eucalyptus and get chlamydia." I let it ride 'cuz that's how I parent. The diarama with his presentation notes is still prominently displayed in the house.

For what it's worth, I think they call it dirty tail, Mean Joe, but you don't get it from eating eucalyptus, apparently.
