Funny Shane Morris tweet about recent Ohio recruiting trend

Submitted by michWolves2580 on

In response to Ohio's recent recruiting trend in offering all Michigan target's, Shane Morris has an idea...

Okay so I say that Michigan finds some scrub kids that want to go to Ohio and we offer them! So Ohio will offer them then they will commit.

Michigan should offer scholarships to greedy, egocentric, and overrated prima donnas who destroys team chemistry and attracts law enforcement investigators...

Wait, Rich Rodriguez already did that..., and OSU bit it hard.

Ummm i didn't think it was defensive of rich rod I was pointing out that your being upset on behalf of team 132 was unnecessary and wrong considering it was no way an attack on michigan and was making fun pryor/ohio. reading comprehension for the win for you their buddy.

Our players are going to have so much more on the ball than Meyer's boys. As we have seen at Florida, Urb doesn't exactly recruit the sharpest knives in the drawer. I could see us beating them in the future the way Stanford beat teams last season (assimilating more information and running more complex schemes with our more intelligent playes.)

I've read this same thing before, but doesn't UM sometimes pass on a guy due to academics and other schools go on to recruit sign him?  That, to me, looks like using somewhat higher standards, even though the baseline GPA/SAT used might be the same as other schools.

I don't want to say that I think Shane Morris could potentially be one of my top 5 favorite Wolverine football players...

I would much rather have a team of men who love their school and what it stands for rather than a bunch of kids who want to play so that they have a chance to go professional. That's not what college football is about, in my opinion. It's about passion, pride, and a reverence to tradition, on top of winning.

If a 5-star kid grew up loving michigan and wants to go here or feels a special bond to the school for whatever reason, then we can all rejoice. But we should rejoice even if it's a 3-star kid or a 2-star kid. Stars don't matter when you've got heart as Mo's teams showed during the 90s (Biakabatuka!!!).

Schools only become perennial powers when there's something more to play for than just the game next saturday. For example, this season was about the seniors and overcoming all the bullshit they've had to put up with for the last 3 years. But the underclassmen also played their heart out for the seniors this season and with that comes the ideal of Michigan and what it means to wear the Maize and Blue.

Shane understands this to some degree (he won't know until he walks out onto the field vs. App. State). He knows that Ohio can only build a team as good as its parts (Dunn, Pittman, Spence), but to build a team is something that takes heart and pride and is something that our 2012 class has more than enough of (Darboh, Funch, Magnuson).

I love the passion and maybe you can make it into a Disney movie I'll pretend I got something stuck in my eye when my wife asks if I'm crying, but the reality is you better have some athletes or USC, OSU, Alabama  and the rest will have there 5 star NFL players take your fire breathing team guys and beat them to death.      You have to have both to be successful.

Bo, Mo, Lloyd, Rich, Brady they all recruited great kids that loved Michigan, but only when we had a dip in talent and experience did we start losing.

Shane Morris is TRUE BLUE!  I love this kid, he gets it.  He understands and loves Michigan.  Shane will be a great TEAM player when he gets here.  I really can't wait and hope this kid exceeds all expectations.

Not gonna start a new thread about this, but that Logan kid from a few days back (seemed like a great kid) tweeted tonight about Meyer extending him an offer. He seemed a little too excited. I hope he goes blue.

I'm not going to give away what I read from behind a paywall, but I can probably say this with relative safety - he called Urban Meyer.  The article confirms that Logan Tuley-Tillman has always wanted to be a Buckeye.  So I don't think this is a case of Urban stealing anything.  However, is it convienent that Urban offered him shortly after we did?  It most certainly is...
