Fun Game to Watch

Submitted by joeyb on
I know there are a lot of people opposed to having FCS teams on our schedule. I was one of them until today. This was the most fun I have ever had watching Michigan. Don't get me wrong, there have been lots of exciting games, but this one was like playing Madden football with the All-Star team vs. the Lions. I, for one, would love to have an FCS team on our schedule midseason every year. Get a 21 point lead and then let your 5th-string RS Freshman running back get a 50 yard TD run. I think the guys on the radio said that there were 6 Michigan players who scored their first touchdowns of their careers today. I think it is the best thing in the world for those players and their families to have that. On top of that, Tate threw two passes today and then sat, so he should be ready to go next week. Minor and Brown sat, they should be ready to go. Denard showed he can hit a receiver downfield when there are no safeties. We showed that we have 6 running backs today who are all capable of breaking big plays for TDs at any point this season. Overall, I think this game was exactly what this team needed. It pulled the team even closer together than what they were and gave the starters some much needed rest midway through the season. I can only hope that we can have a game like this every year.

The game was real fun to watch. Saw some big plays and got to see Graham score a td for the first time since high school. Denard got a good amount of snaps, too. Also, that was the best effort I have ever seen on the wave. The crowd was having a great time in this game, including myself. Even DSU's band enjoyed the game.

Granted the team we played was awful, we know that... But, they are still a 1-AA team and a game like today really allows someone to appreciate how good of athletes our bench players truly are. They stepped in and dominated and there didn't seem to be a huge dropoff. Great way to get things rollin for next week. GO BLUE!

Nothing quite like seeing your team thrash someone 63-6. And hell, Florida does it to FCS teams like 6 times a year, so why can't we enjoy one every once in a while?

All in all I dont think anyone could have asked for a better game or outcome. It would have been nice to see Denard throw more than 4 times but and to see Sheridan get a td but it was a great game to watch!

this was the most pointless game ever played in Michigan Stadium. Our spring game was more competitive. Not only was Deleware State an FCS team, they were a bad one, and worse yet a poorly coached FCS team. I honestly think our full 2nd string would clobber them and our 3rd string would win pretty handily. Please god no more games like this one.............Long Beach State played here in 1987, at least they were a D1 team, a dying one but a d1 one. Until today they were the worst opponent I'd ever seen Michigan play. Its a win, no one got injured for Michigan and a bunch of young kids got to play which I guess is a positive......but the competition was terrible. This did nothing to prepare UM for the rest of the season at all.

its smart to schedule a D1-AA school... 1. lifts the spirits from 2 losses in a row 2. fun for the fans and players to see ur team win by a bunch and 3. all the players get to get some game time....

Delaware State was in trouble almost immediately. When they ran into the Big House with their helmets on, they quickly realized the Star Spangled Banner was playing as they entered the Stadium. They ran in with their helmets on, stopped quickly took their helmets off, and were never the same.
