Another very solid prospect for Harbaugh.  With USC soon to be in medicore-ville due to sanctions, Oregon losing Masoli, Jim might win a Pac-12 championship or two at Stanford (though we'll see how he does against Utah).

Yeah, I saw that earlier, good pick-up for Stanford but it's their 4th RB in this class, a little heavy on that.  I agree that Stanford could be looking at some conference titles soon.

If they turn him away I'd feel pretty silly questioning Michigan admissions for rejecting marginal athletes.  Maybe that is where Harbaugh's comments wrt Michigan academics came from.  Is Stanford admissions that different from Michigan's??

It's an interesting read. Key paragraphs:

"One of the biggest drawbacks to recruiting at Stanford is that recruits do not learn whether  they have been admitted until the summer before their senior year – at the earliest.   Typically, Cardinal coaches wait until the student has been admitted before offering him or her a scholarship, and by then the athlete has grown weary of waiting to hear from Stanford and has committed elsewhere."

"In the final Stanford class recruited by Walt Harris, only three players who signed for 2006 committed before November of 2005, and in Harbaugh’s first class, only four of the players who signed for 2007 committed before November.    However, 15 of Stanford’s commitments for 2010 made their verbal commitment before November 2009."

It sounds like academics won't be a problem for this guy, but I was thinking of WolvinLA2's observation that they now have 4 RB commits.

Actually, you've made me regret that M didn't get this athlete-scholar.

I think they are still a year away, but you could be right.  Take a look at Stanford's recruiting, they were still pretty weak until their 2009 class, with the exception of Andrew Luck from 2008.  Those 2009 guys will still be sophs and RS frosh this fall.  But by the time the 2009 class are juniors and the 2010 class are sophs (and a few studs from this class) they'll be competing for the top in the Pac 12.  Also, it will probably take USC a little time to fall apart.
