... he'll be the Al Capone of college football.

Think it's absurd that it's harder to beat a paying for autograph scandel than it is sexual abuse.  Absurd but not surprised given the house of cards is built by a bunch of rich, old white dudes more concerned with their bottom line than right vs. wrong.

Even if he sold autographs I am not sure why this is wrong. Fame is a legitimate way to make money. Coaches endorse products all the time- isn't there a double standard here?

mean time. problem is, it doesn't matter what the rules are to some people. They just break them. if they're a good enough athlete, they won't be held to the standard. jameis is a perfect example of not being accountable. His own father blamed fsu for his troubles. Dad says someone should be with him all the time to keep him out of trouble.

Brian Kelly has probably been forging Winston's signature for months. Seems too much of a coincidence that this story comes out this week.

You mean looking at throwing the story in the garbage?

"Kids sign things all the time," Fisher said after Saturday's game. "So what do you want them to do, stop signing stuff? We could make them not have any fans from that standpoint and not sign for anybody. That's what it's going to come to, and that's a shame for college football, that somebody exploits a kid. Now if they're getting paid for it, then I don't have any knowledge of that. I don't believe Jameis did."

Or how about that from Jimbo? Allegedly signed 340 items for a dealer.

Really mind boggling to me how someone could be under investigation in 2 separate incidents, not to mention his priors, and still be playing football.  ND players were investigated and withheld from all football related activities, much like I am sure Michigans players would be.  You want to know why neither of our teams are going to win a NC anytime in our lifetimes?  This is why.

Something probably suspicious here of the Manziel variety. The thing is, any "investigation" of this nature will take some time to come to it's natural end. I'd say he misses the first half of the Boston College game in November.

Regardless, your boy Lou will pick ND this weekend despite the legit 12 point spread.

Maybe I didn't notice when it happened, but I don't recall Notre Dame acting on the Lizzy Seeberg incident, seemed more like circling the wagon than anything else.  My point being, every program has skeletons--how many and how ostensible is another matter. And I would imagine coaching also has something to do with why neither Michigan nor Notre Dame will win a NC soon: Saban, Dantonio, Harbaugh(not because he went to a NC, rather he reaped success at an institution with similar academic standards as Michigan and ND), Malzahn are better coaches than what ND and Michigan have had.

I did not recall the Lizzy Seeberg incident at ND but you're absolutely correct. ND could not have handled that with much less sensitivity. I don't recall ND being exactly forthcoming about the 2010 death of student manager Declan Sullivan, either.

Self righteousness from ND and it's fans? Shocking.

RIP Lizzy Seeberg.

Six safety violations and a $77k fine from IOSHA noting the young man was up in 53 mph gusts. They didn't cover up anything...tell me again about their accountability?

As I said last fall, we failed to keep him safe, and for that we remain profoundly sorry," Jenkins said in a prepared statement.

The players involved weren't charged let alone investigated.  I am not about to trash the name of a dead girl for a rebuttal on a message board.  I will say what anyone else not involved in the incident will say and that is "Something happened and there are only 2 people who know for sure".  I can't say a player did or didn't do anything because I wasn't there.

As far as your coaching theory is concerned Kelly in under rated imo.

How noble of you.

Edit:

For those not familiar with the case, here are a few details.  Yes, the officials dragged their feet and didn't begin a proper investigation. Ten days later the victim committed suicide. No victim to bring charges--no case.

Here's an article from the National Catholic Reporter that discusses some of the details of the case.

It's not simply a he said-she said case.  It's an institution pulling out all stops to protect itself and its image by delaying, covering up, and trashing the reputation of a female student who had the audacity to accuse a Notre Dame football player of sexual assault.

This bullshit is all over southern teams. While I don't know about the rape case (false allegations are more than 50%) I would agree that there is a huge amount of off the field issues that would get this guy kicked out of other programs. As far as Gibbdons goes... We don't know the story from that case and maybe he did commit that crime or maybe it was a false allegation that UoM would run from. Too many feminist groups on campus to get a fair trial.

there will always be issues at every school from time to time to be dealt with.  The problem with Winston is that he's always in trouble and never seems to learn from it.  Moving to the pros will not solve his issues...they will continue IMO.

His father's statement that someone needed to be with him 24/7 to keep him out of trouble tells me everything I need to know.  Dad never set any expectation that he keep his own shit straight.

And I fully expect them to find nothing to make them not play Winston.  There is a lot of smoke here, but it is pretty clear that the NCAA isn't too inclined to stop the secondary market for autographs and other player memorabilia that has been going on for years now.

Des commented: you can prove he signed the stuff, you can prove a dealer sold the stuff, but unless you have evidence of the player receiving cash for the autographs, then there's nothing there.

My cousin goes to Florida State and she preaches to everyone that the kid 100% raped that woman. She hates Winston with a passion.

He's going to get kicked out of school after this Student Conduct hearing is done.

This story is starting to look ugly.  Working with the FSU police force to share a crime report with the attorney for Jameis, prior to the report being provided to the District Attorney.

I think the school is starting to realize that nothing good can come from continuing to protect a kid who is too stupid and greedy for his own good.

"He's going to get kicked out of school after this Student Conduct hearing is done."

No he isn't. He'll withdraw from the university before that happens. If he's not a student the hearing ends. More than likely he withdraws before he even has to participate in it in any way.
