Frustration over HTTV not arriving

Submitted by Lordfoul on

After hearing days ago that people started receiving theirs I really figured it would be here by now.  I am in York, PA and still waiting, at least until Monday now it seems.

I realize though that this is the first go at this for the MGo crew and that unintented delays go with the territory.  Does anyone have any idea when I should start to wonder if I will be seeing one at all there could have been a problem with my contact information?  Is anyone else still waiting?  I know I filled out the information on where to send my copies when I was prompted to and was one of the earlier contributers to the Kickstarter campain.

:((

Edit:

First off - Brian, if you read this thread, I meant no disrespect by voicing my disappointment as a forum topic.  I am a devotee to MGoBlog since its inception and can't thank you enough for the work you put into this; it enriches my life daily.  I sincerely hope that it continues to provide you with enough income to make it your life's work.

Second - Wow am I impressed with the passion displayed by so many on this thread.  The anticipated arrivial of HTTV certainly brings out some strong emotions, and I am clearly not the only frustrated person here.  Obviously shipping is experiencing delays, at least judging from the responses of most.  I am not "butthurt" by the delays and stated originally that they are understandable.  MGoBlog has been nothing but professional always and will I'm sure have such problems fixed for future HTTV editions.

Third - Internet trolls that question the intelligence of people they have never met based a few lines of text, or call people "wankers" or "butthurt" or other such garbage over the internets are no doubt fat, pimple faced losers living in their mother's basements without care for their personal hygiene.  Since I have never met any of you either it gives me great pleasure to be absolutely sure of this.

Now back to my camp by the mailbox, because I f'ing love me some HTTV.

I live in Saline Michigan and haven't gotten mine. My advice for you? Just shut up and deal with it. It will come when it comes, MGoBlog isn't trying to rip you off, and when you get it you'll still have a lot of time to read it

Why so aggressive? I don't think it's ridiculous to be a little disappointed, it's not like they've been exactly prompt about shipping them out this year...I haven't gotten mine + shirt yet, and I live in Ann Arbor, which presumably would not take long to ship from UGP.  It is possible to be a consumer (and supporter) and a critic at the same time, you know.

It just screams entitlement to me. It's been like a week or so since they were supposed to ship and we've already had multiple topics about why people haven't gotten theirs yet. If this was August or September, then yes people would have a right to complain, but right now is just whining

Exactly...it's been a week since they were supposed to ship, in the continental US (and especially for those of us in or close to AA) it should definitely be here by now.  Besides this is the fact that printing was delayed an additional two weeks by the printers (Brian mentioned something about them screwing MGoBlog with late fees, so they had to switch printers). Although this is out of the control of MGoBlog, it doesn't really matter to the consumer, because we're now left with getting them basically a month later than many had anticipated. It's not entitlement when it's that late. It's OK to be irked about such a delay, considering we actually PAY for this content. Nobody's saying DDOS MGOBLOG TODAY or anything, but it's OK to be a bit peeved I think.

Actually, it's been two weeks since they were supposed to have started shipping (6/30).  But I think the key there is 'started' shipping... it will take some time to get all of those in the mail.

I haven't gotten mine yet either here in Missouri.  I'm disappointed, yes, but I know it's coming so not a big deal.  And I'm not going to pile on the OP because now I know there're others that still haven't gotten theirs, but many people are getting them... so I don't need to worry yet.

I actually just ordered two more from the website to give as gifts.  FWIW, if you order from the website and choose UPS instead of USPS, the estimated shipping time is like 3 business days instead of 10 business days for the same price.

You're upset b/c his post "screams entitlement"?  As a paying customer who was under the impression a product would arrive at a certain time, doesn't that actually entitle him/her?  I mean, I get pissed when people act like they deserve shit for no reason, but I'm pretty sure paying for a product/service is a decent reason to feel like you deserve something.

You also paid for this product knowing it was the first time it was published independently instead of through a publishing company that had been through this rodeo a few times. Slight delays happen, I doubt they'll be as bad in future years.

Of course it does! The guy bought something! When I go to the grocery store and buy something, I fully expect the cashier to hand it to me at the end of the transaction. When I buy something from an online retailer, I expect them to ship it out when they say they're going to. I'm entitled to it because I bought it.
Am i butthurt that I havent received my copy yet? No. Would I have a right to be if I so choose? Yes, as does the OP. I have an enormous amount of respect for the mgoempire that Brian is building and I have plenty of faith that he is doing all he can to ensure his customers receive their product, but as consumers, we also have the right to criticize when it is warranted.

"Why so aggressive?"  My guess is because mgoblog shouldn't be used for HTTV customer service issues when a simple email to Brian would be more efficient and less unpleasant.

I see it as being extremely rude to the blog owner, who pours his entire life into mgoblog and now HTTV.

All you mgoblog users are so butthurt, look at what the dude said, it's not like he wrote a 3-page diatribe on how terrible MGoBlog is.  This readership seriously needs to get some thicker skin if this really is so insulting to everyone. The dude paid for a product which has been delayed unduly, for which he has the right to voice an opinion. An email may have been more polite, but it's not like the dude is sending death threats.

People don't think it warranted a thread.  I would be unhappy if I didn't have my copy yet, but I wouldn't start my own thread about it.

It's like during the season, when Michigan loses, some people feel the urge to create threads that just say "I'm pissed. Michigan should have done gooder." But while that's a perfectly reasonable sentiment, but lots of people share those sentiments. Not every relevant topic needs to have its own post.

Side note: as a mod, I hate this shit.

The offseason is like something out of Sartre. But there's a certain Potter Stewart "I know it when I see it" standard for thread-worthiness, and this one failed the test in the view of the masses.

And yet somehow dog anal glands is board worthy. Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown.

if not here, where? this is a product promoted through mgoblog. there's no obvious/apparent avenue of customer service, be it emailing Brian or calling a number (lulz). there was a clear delivery date expectation that is still being promoted via the banner clickthrough of June 30. i only found this thread because i searched before posting because i also have not received my copy and wanted to know if i failed to execute/act on something that keeps it from being delivered. Brian made a post a couple weeks ago that referenced adding your address if you (insert circumstances) but it wasn't clear and there's zero way to check the 'status of your order.' one thread wherein there should be customer service for something that was a) crowdsourced into existence and b) is an official product of the site herein is something inherently thread worthy. how else would a) Brian know if there was a mailing issue or b) buyers find out they needed to do something that is preventing the process? i agree completely with some of the sentiments above that reject the notion this is not a standard purchase on par with a cell phone or poster from Amazon - it's like because it's a blog and OMGZBRIANZ people are not allowed to even raise the point that a purchase order hasn't been executed.

I certainly don't think they would intentionally do this.  Snafus happen I am sure when information for shipping is gathered in the manner that it was for HTTV this year, at least for those that ordered by contributing to Kickstarter.

Nice unnecessary jab at the end there though, big man of the internets.  I'll be sure to take your sage advice in the future.

You want to rethink how reasonable and understanding your feelings were in your OP? Because when you wrote that it certainly seems like you were wondering if they would intentionally do it.

Either that or you weren't serious and being a giant drama queen.

Lordfoul

July 14th, 2012 at 11:26 PM ^

Why am I supposed to feel like there couldn't possibly have been problems keeping shipping information straight when it was gathered months after I initially placed my "order" by supporting the kickstarter campaign?  I have ordered things through Amazon a zillion times and had to resolve shipping problems at least a couple of times despite their expertise in getting orders out to people.

Also, why can't anyone on here make a serious question without feeling the need to throw an backhanded insult or two into the mix?

You basically questioned their honesty and integrity. Which makes you come off as whiny. People don't like whiny. Because you're making "a little late but still 50 days before the season" seem like a crime against humanity, and thought a board post was the way to find out if you were just a special little snowflake whose order got screwed up. (That's your story now, right?) Because either you were venting on a public board, or you thought it was your specific issue and a board post was a better response than an email. Either way the innocent good intentions you seem to believe were in the OP didn't come off at all.

Lordfoul

I think it is certainly fair to say that waiting for my fix of HTTV makes me whiny like a kid in a toy store.

I don't appologize for the post though.  I wanted commiseration and a feeling that I was not alone in my frustration and I got that.  #MGoTherapy

Oh, and I am a special little snowflake.  You don't have to act jealous about it ;~).

I think you need to check your sarcasm meter.  Try re-reading my "insult" and supposed basis for making it and... oh never mind.

Maybe just try to refrain from assuming that you have the intellectual chops to tell people when they are thinking or not, at least until you have met them.  I mean, you're not fooling anyone you know.

I was looking more for a feel for how many hadn't received theirs yet, which this thread has duly informed me of.

But I am glad that you are such a judge of intelligence.  We can all rest easy with your's watching over us.

I got mine on Thursday.  It looks great.  I wouldn't worry about it, it'll get there.

That'd be funny, though, if your mail man comes by at the end of the day today with a package for you that fell between the seats, and it turns out not to be HTTV but a subscription to the Jelly of the Month club (which is the gift that keeps on giving all year) and then Ashton and a camera crew show up on your front porch and all along, HTTV was an elaborate scheme by Brian to Punk you, Christmas Vacation style.

I usually check my mail 2-3 times a week..... in the past couple of weeks, I've been there every day. (still no HTTV) .... i guess I'm actually going to be on time getting bills paid this month!

You won't see me f'n complaining because of f'n not getting my copy of HTTV delivered to my damn mailbox by those SOB's at the f'n Post Office.  No matter how damn burned up I might get about it!

The original post is to make sure you're not alone -- AND not bother Brian until it's necessary. I write for a fantasy baseball site. Every winter the site sends out its main publication. The chat forum has fun with people posting whether they've got it and if so where. Then the chat segues into posts about which articles you like best. A decent way to pass time during the offseason.

And, for the record, still waiting in Maryland.

Ever think that they shipped them in the purchase order, ya know like fairly.  Its comes USPS.  Standard shipping always gives a 5-7 business day range.  Brian has said all he can say about when they will come.  Its out of everyone's control.  Cheese and crackers for you!  P.S., I just got mine yesterday, and I ordered it on the day one could first purchase it in advance.

I just recieved my copy today (Kentucky) and IIRC the label was actually a "media mail" stamp or something not Priority Mail so the delivery schedule will be slower than normal snail mail.

While yes I agree that when I purchase an item I'm usually all up in arms over delays...HOWEVA this was a crowd sourced venture so I fully expected delays of this nature and Brian has kept us up to date on everything so whats the big deal?

For the amount of FREE analysis this site provides us you can wait another couple days for a $15 mag.
