Frozen Four/NHL open thread
Providence has advanced to the final.
BU- North Dakota is next on ESPN2.
Wings/Habs on FSD right now. Lots of other big matchups tonight in the NHL as well. Could the Pens miss the playoffs? Can the Kings squeak in?
ETA: Pens are off tonight but Sens and Bruins both have games that they could pass them in the standings.
I wanted Omaha to win, but I'll be pulling for Providence now. Hopefully they get their first title and BU/NoDak stays away from our record.
Gut feeling says BU 4-2
Ohio State football
Kentucky basketball
All of their fans are awful
This is my first real interaction with them in person (besides what I see on TV and read), but I've always found them quite distasteful. My opinion of them hasn't changed and was possibly reinforced. Why in the hell do you need hockey cheerleaders/ice girls? I didn't know this existed until this because I don't think any of the B1G schools have them. Hockey East doesn't. Both NoDak and UNO had them. It was weird and why? NoDak fans are holding onto a nickname from yesteryear while wearing garrish Green jerseys that resemble St Patrick's Day gone wrong. Their team resembles that trashiness with their chippiness.
I know that NoDak got pissed at Rodriques for his spearing thing, but NoDak was doing that type of stuff every time a BU player skated by all game. It was a shitty move by Rodriques, but I didn't feel bad for NoDak at all. They had it coming to them.

The Flyers tried to replace their ice girls with a bunch of dudes. It lasted one game; they were booed off the ice and replaced the next game by the ice girls.
Any idea if he'll get drafted?....
Yes, the ellipsis was supposed to indicating factetiousness
I'll be mad if Edmonton gets McDavid. That team is more of a gongshow than the Leafs.
No chance that happens with Kevin Lowe.
I think a lot of teams want Babcock to coach but I doubt many are really going to do the "here, be everything" and give him the reins. No proof of success as a GM. Pittsburgh worries me because I'm sure he'd love to coach Crosby but the Leafs for example would never do that.
will want to go to Toronto to coach McDavid.
/s....sorta
LOL at whoever considers this a neutral site game.
It's in the city of Boston. It's a BU home game.
And 1-0 BU.
It's tough to make a beautiufl hockey uniform and real easy to make some ugly ones. BU has a great look
Nothing against Calgary or LA, who are also chasing a spot, but it would be really cool to see the Jets in the playoffs. Their last playoff game was against Detroit ... in 1996!
I want them to miss the playoffs so we can see the catastrophe that happens. Mario might fire everyone.
I'm sorry, that's an awful excuse when you have Malkin and Crosby, two of the three most talented players in the world. Also Fleury was actually decent this year. Their coach should be gone at a minimum and I'd think they should move LeTang as well.
and to answer the question above, no nobody cares about Cindy or the pens.
2-0 BU after 1 period.
They're Hakstolling again.
I'm more impressed with BU than I am concerned/down on North Dakota. BU has looked terrific so far
it's a game all of a sudden. Just :44 into the 2nd
What the fuck is the point of having hockey cheerleaders?
I'll give you they're even less involved in hockey since they can't be right at the action, but cheerleaders are pretty pointless in most sports. They only seem to be popular at the western schools i.e. WCHA/NCHC
Funny how momentum in hockey swings so violently sometimes.

What a shot. BU 3-1
Even if Michigan made the tournament, Hyman still wouldn't have beat out Eichel for the Hobey.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HAKSTOL
It'd be interesting if someone with better stats skills than I figured out tournament performance vs. expectations / seeding. Seems like year in and year out North Dakota and Miami have been burning out early.
Sadly I bet Michigan would crack the top 5
It's kind of a miracle the Wings have this tied. Price is playing ridiculous this year. Heading into this game his sv% vs the wins was .981
