I know there was a post a few days ago, but a friendly reminder that Mitch McGary's game wil be on ESPN at 4:00 today. Will be a good test for Mitch as he faces 6'11" Nerlens Noel (#2 in 2013 Class)
Also Nik Stauskas played earlier on ESPNU, but I missed the game, so if anyone has an update please post it.

Scored 15 points. Had a couple of 3s, crossed over a guy and sliced through two more for a layup. Not a bad perfomance. Hopefully McGary can best this Nerlens guy.

Not impressed. He will fit right in with the effort the team gave yesterday.
So far his team looks overmatched. But there is plenty of time left. That Noel kid is dominating right now.
Damn that Noel kid is pretty good. McGary unfortunately hasn't been able to get much started.

Rough first quarter for McGary and Brewster. Hopefully he is able to get some open shots so we can see how good he is.

I'm disappointed.
To be fair, everyone was expecting him to dominate because of the hype. If he didn't, it was going to be a disappointment.
I still think he's gonna be great for us.
I expected a little more from a 20 yr old guy playing against 16 and 17 yr olds.
On that note though if Noel is a legit 6'11 than Mitch is no more than 6'7 tops, he looks completely dwafted by Noel in the post.

This game looks like an And 1 mixtape. Whole lotta woofing it up.
This literally looks like a NBA game with a lot of one on one, hard to get anything out of this game. The shot clock has some of these kids jacking up shots for no apparent reason and with espn being there it really is a perimeter game.
I expect McGary to be a Tyler Hansborough type player at michigan who everyone will hate because he just attacks and gets the benefit of every whistle possible. I'm sure we all can and will take that.
Very disappointed. Let's face it if you didn't know who he was, afterwatching that half you still wouldn't, he looked like just a guy out there. Really showed nothing.

Judging by the first half, I think McGary stays at least two years and that's not bad news for Michigan IMO. His energy will definitely be an asset and totally infectious. I can not wait until he steps on the Ann Arbor campus!
He's a PF having to match up with the best center in his class if not the whole country.

Thought it was clear I meant that he's the best high school center. He's the number one center in the 2013 class and if he's better than Isaiah Austin (the #1 2012 center), then he's the best center in the country. ESPN has him rated higher.
I'm pretty sure that Noel is like 3 years younger than him, 1 class year younger
is a better player than 99.9% of players McGary will go up against in college

Hope that Mitch is very upset with his performance. If he happens to read any of this and is a true competitor then he would agree with the assessment of his play today because he in no way even looks like a top 50 recruit.
How the hell did these teams come to exist?? My high school team sent a couple guys to D1 schools and we would have gotten absolutely murdered by these guys.

Yeah, Haitians are stupid for not giving their kids more classically American names. It's almost as bad as parents from South America or East Asia or the Indian subcontinent or Africa or the Middle East -- why not just name your kid Jim or Jimmy or Jimbo or something? MORANS
First time seeing McGary play, and I've been impressed with his athleticism and effort. Noel is a phenomenal shotblocker so there isn't a lot of room for Mitch to finish around the rim, but I think a lot of folk here are putting way too much emphasis on points scored. There isn't a shotblocker like Noel in the Big Ten and there probably won't be going forward.
Brewster runs NO plays and they seem like a bunch of selfish players. I like Mcgarys hustle and after some John Belien coaching he will be just fine
Is like a Hansbrough/Novak grit-type of player (like he gets rebounds, does the dirty work, etc.) with THJ, Burke, GRIII and Stauskas, we should be OK. We will still have a lot of scorers on the team. He will find his role and make us better.

Well the only good thing about this is it looks clear there is no way Mitch is even close to being ready for the NBA. These kids are all at least two years younger than him and he can't do anything offensively.
Look at him playing on his AAU team and in the summer camps (where he vaulted in his rankings)...he will be fine. Granted I was dissapointed...but it's not the end of the world that he was outplayed by an elite prospect in 1 game. Also, Brewster didn't really make an effort to run plays and feed him the ball - a lot of 'me' basketball.
Wow, very impressed with McGary's athleticism, he moves much better than any of the Bigs currently on M's roster. You can't teach that type of athletic ability and he will get even bigger and stronger in college. McGary should transition very nicely from the playground nature of his HS team, to the structured concept of his college team, where excellent coaches are more than willing to take advantage of his undeniable talents. And he's a hustler too! M fans are in for a treat and will absolutely love this kid.
Stauskas is a little bit limited athletically IMO, and while he has a beautiful shot, his release is a bit slow, as he cocks the ball. I think ultimately Stauskas will be very good at M, but it is going to take some time for his body to mature, and for him to get used to the upgrade in competition that the BIG will provide. IMHO Stauskas is more athletic than Vogrich but not on the same level as Stu and Zack, hopefully a college S&C program can help in this regard. It has done wonders for Morgan, Stu, Zack, Tim Hardaway, Horford, and Mclimans, Smot, and Vogrich.
