Friday what are you drinking?
My variety pack included:
Bell's Oberon, 2 Hearted Ale, & Midwestern Pale Ale
Fat Tire & Rolle Bolle
Tap Room No.21 Pale Ale, Amber Ale, & Copper Honey Lager
Founder's Dirty Bastard
New Castle Brown Ale
And 2 Redbridge for my wife.
The steaks look great. I'll let you know how the beers are as I go.
Birthday edition of IBC Root Beer!
So you stole our Hennessy.
My in-laws have the kids tonight for a sleepover of sorts, so my wife and I have committed to consume this supply of Frankenmuth Pilsener that my mother was kind enough to drop off earlier in the week.
ORE DE CALABAZA
So..... lotsa different brews. Favs so far... Deschutes, stone, silver moon, and widmer.
Had Deschutes for the first time recently in California. I really enjoyed the River Ale. Think it's an Oregon brewery but hasn't seen it until Cali
I haven't had the River Ale, but the Inversion IPA is one of my favs. They served a Belgian IPA at the festival. Very tasty.
Deschutes is probably the biggest brewery in Oregon besides Rogue. It's my favorite and it's what we served at our wedding. The inversion IPA is excellent as are most if their beers. The original brewery is in Bend, OR, but there is also an awesome restaurant / brewery in Portland. I actually like Deschutes way better than Rogue because its still reasonably priced and delicious!
I guess I forgot about Widmer and Bridgeport in terms of the biggest oregon breweries. But like I said, Deschutes may be the best if them all.
At a buddy's flat in London; enjoying some lynchburg lemonades and some strongbow. An odd assortment to say the least
London, eh? How are the pubs?
Everything I could have hoped for and more, ate the dickens inn by the tower bridge and it was fantastic, and one called the flag today in watford. Both were great
Franziskaner pints with my brother.
Nice. One of my favorites back in the day. Cheers
Founders Breakfast Stout I forgot I had in the fridge. Nice little surprise.
Boulevard dubbel and long strange tripel
Angry Orchard Hard Cider
Drinking everything under the sun! Last drink sample Founders Dirty Bastard, now on to the Bells tent for a Roundhouse.
A nice quality Texas beer for a nice quality Texan like myself. Forget about that time my birth certificate said I was born in New York.
15 year old Glenfiddich. Tbh it tastes very similar to the 12.
And I don't see any wines here so ill post...
Popped a Redcap Vineyards Sauvignon blanc from Rutherford, napa. Now on to the Alianza made by one of the best cult wineries in napa, Araujo and the Eisele vineyard. Great stuff if anyone likes big reds that are reminiscing of an old world Bordeaux.
Perpetual IPA....very good local IPA
Now drinking a Sierra Nevada Ovila Abbey Quad. It's amazing what I find just chilling in the fridge when I look.
Per San Diego Charger Twitter. Torn ACL in practice. Probably out for year...
It's an Irish Stout.
followed by a Rubaeus, which is a bit too sweet for my tastes. Probably shouldn't have started with a Dirty Bastard, though.
waiting for a little wolverine - wife was due last sat
I'm on my way to go pick-up Fournette and get him to A2.
15 year old single cask. Smoky and delicious.
Chocolate peanut butter protein shake right now since I just got back from a ride. Then moving onto some New Holland White Hatter.
Chocolate milk is the only way to recover
Markham estate merlot. Very good bottle of wine for a decent ($18-25) price.
Ya I like fruity beer. Come at me
Decided to try some Blackberry Pear Cider Fox Barrel. Pretty damn good.
2nd had a few bud lights.
Ending the night with some Red Stag.
Buckets of my own tears, as I continue to stress over next week's impending bar exam.
Don't worry man, you're going to piss all over that exam.
No point stressing at this point. Have a beer.
As long as you did your prep work over the summer, you'll be fine. You'll be amazed at how many people just don't have a clue. What state? And good luck.
Thanks. I'm taking it in Michigan. I've done the whole barbri program and then some, so I'm reasonably confident, but I'd still be feeling a lot better if I were taking it before last year's grading change.
Southern Tier Choklat (chocolate stout)
I also really like their Iniquity
It's a damn shame it isn't available in MI. Major setback for my collegiate years. Not really.
Tanquray and soda, no lime
I'm not drinking anything tonight but water. However, I did enjoy some great beers the past week or so. Beers enjoyed lately include: RR Pliny the Elder, RR Supplication, Ballast Point Sculpin, Boulevard Nommo Dubbel, Boulevard Sixth Glass Quad, and Boulevard Rye-on-Rye.
The Rye on Rye is an incredible beer. I skipped the Boulevard takeover for the Brooklyn takeover tonight specifically because they did not have the Rye on Rye.
Famous Grouse Gold Reserve
Had 2 beers from my own mixed 12 pack with grilled salmon for dinner. Red Hook Long Hammer IPA and Summit Brewing Extra Pale Ale. Both very drinkable and pleasant but nothing to write home about.
Now working on a Tanqueray Rangpur over ice with lime while watching the Tigers. An excellent capper to an evening highlighted by roughhousing with my grandson.
From my good old home town cider mill, Uncle John's. Now if I only had some donuts to go with it...
Mama's little yella pils
....a much improved twist on a Jack & Ginger
I was able to pick up a couple bottles of w00tstout by stone (and Wil Wheetin) i am aging one bottle for at least a year, but right now I gotta go with Hennepin.
Have not been able to get my hands on the w00t. Let me know how it is.
It's interesting concept beer. Wheat Rye based Stout aged in a bourbon barrel. 13%. I am really excited to try it. I love bourbon aged beers and always willing to try some new ones
And if you're in Ann Arbor, whole foods on Eisenhower had a few bottles on the shelf, and produce station is expecting a case
It sounds great. I live in RTP (hence the handle) and so far haven't seen it. I'm a regular at the craft brew establishments here and it doesn't seem to have hit the shelves - I'm on the allocation lists so if it were here I'd get it. Enjoying a Stone espresso imperial stout ($6.99) at the moment and slumming on mgoblog.
I've probably said this several times but if you can get the White Oak by the Bruery it is a must have. Enjoy it on a hot day. Uber refreshing, fresh ale with a bourbon barrel touch. Most similar thing I can think that compares to it is Allagash's Curieaux, which is excellent, but White Oak is a meta beer.
Variety of dark horse brews. Life is good. Watching tigers on tv outside in patio.
Had a Sam Adams Cherry Wheat and Two Hearted Ale with lunch. Now enjoying some Oberon and Bacardi Cherry Torched with Coke Zero.
Brooklyn tap takeover at Sam's in Durham - had the Silver Anniversary, Local 1, Local 2, Blast! and the Sorachi Ace. Went over to Dos Perros for a Backwoods Bastard and an Victory Oak Horizontal. Its good to be the king.
Silver Anniversary and Local 1 are good and Sorachi Ace is on of my favorites. A top notch Saison and great summer brew.
Not a fan of lagers in general, but the Silver was tops of all of those until I got to the Backwoods Bastard.
North Peak Brewing Siren Amber Ale, followed by a Killian's and now the fruit loops of beer leinenkugles Sunset Wheat. Need to clear out some space in the beer fridge.
Had a Boston Lager earlier, and ended the night with a couple shots of tequila (my favorite liquor). One of Milagro Select Barrel Reserve Silver and another of Cazadores Añejo. I don't get to drink liquor much, so since I have one more night with the wife before she works night shift this weekend, I figured I'd take advantage.
Just had a shot of moonshine for the first time in a while. Possibly worse than absinthe.
Why? Its rarely worth the pain.
Tis my 30th bday today
It must've been some bad moonshine. I've got a moonshine connect that makes some peach and strawberry moonshine that tastes like heaven but will knock you on your ass.
Stopped at Jamesport Brewery on Ludington. Had the Badger Brown, good but not up to the standard of Bellaire Brown. Also had a Altbier.
My wife interrupted my perfectly good birthday evening a few hours ago by announcing that our laundry room was flooded, there was water under the flooring, most had ended up in the basement, and we would have to pull up the tile in the laundry room immediately lest we get mold. Looks like I'll be spending tomorrow morning nursing a hang over and trolling the aisles at Lowes.
Maker's Mark and soda with a twist
However, I'm trying to take it easy since we are headed to Detroit for Saturday AND Sunday's game against the Phillies for my birthday...
Dogfish Head 75 Minute this eve
Vanilla Smirnoff and OJ. Tastes like creamsicles.
Then I'm moving on to attack the rack of shitty beer in my fridge. After a week of dropping $20 literally every night at AA establishments, it's time to let my wallet recover (fuck the liver though).
Michael Collins single malt and an Oberon chaser.
Don't be jealous.
Oh, by the way...
Devin is gonna shock everyone's expectations.
Hey...hi, to the no. 3 recruiting class!
Abita Strawberry Ale and anything else that is from Louisiana for Fournette
Being dragged to a country concert tonight with work at 5am tomorrow morning. A better question is "what aren't you drinking?"
Kinda late but I took a pint of Ciroc Red Berry to the head last night and woke up feeling great. $20 well spent.
