Friday Posbang + Happy MgoDeer Hunting

Submitted by XM - Mt 1822 on

Mates,

It is a great Friday with a nice covering of snow, and for a very large segment of the state's population up here, the eve of a virtual holy day - Rifle season for deer hunting starts tomorrow at 0-dark-hundred.   I am a bow hunter, but I am glad that people do love to rifle hunt.  For those that have never been, the fun and fellowship of deer camp are a treat, many a memory across generations of family and friends has been created this time of year.

Would love to have any MgoDeer Hunters share their plans for this year or favorite stories from past years.  Since our beloved Wolverines have a 'bye' this weekend, no excuse to get out of the woods tomorrow.

Hunt safely and have a great weekend.  Go blue!

is not anorexic.  Anorexia is in the eyes.

She probably just eats a lot of rice cakes and fat free yogurt.  And she may have slept at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I didn't resize the pic, but it stretched a bit when I posted it.  I'm not sure why, but I'm not all that tech savy.  Search "Bucks Cheerleaders" and she's in the mix of pics.

For one, I'm just hunting the local state land, which means I gotta get there bright and early before all the good spots are taken! Good luck fellow mgohunters!

I'm usually up near Curran at our hunting lodge but I'm sitting this year out. I have tickets to the Browns-Texans game Sunday and the chance to watch my Brownies play from first place for the first time since 1994 was too powerful to resist.

I just bought my tags this morning.  Damn things change every year.  Mostly though, my tags purchases are donations to the DNR, which doesn't bother me.

I look forward to spending time with family and friends talking deer stories.

Plenty of football and basketball to watch this weekend as well.

Have fun, all!  BE SAFE!

There's a small movement among city folks and some celebrities to hunt and gather all their own meat. Joe Rogan is someone who has decided that he will no longer consume store-bought, chemically enhanced, pre-packaged meat. You gain a much deeper appreciation for your food...and life.

Whether I kill a duck or a deer or a turkey or a perch, I immediately focus on treatment or the animal to make sure it is handled properly for food preparation.  This whole "gameyness" thing is bullshit.  You're dealing with meat that has flavor.  If it's treated badly, sure, it's gonna suck.  But handled properly you've got some of the most delicious meats there are, and with enough flavor to stand up to some killer sauces and wines.  Cheers.

There are a lot of little kids and dogs. Our neighborhood is surrounded by farms and woods, the farmers poison the coyotes and then they wander around our neighborhood all disoriented and mangy. I got my .22 on stand by...

...and cats are on their own, but as far as humans are concerned you're much more likely to be killed or injured by a deer attack than a coyote.  And that's not including deers involved in failure to yield accidents.
