Expecting to hear that I am promoted. Scared shitless. I've been fighting anxiety and depression for the past seven years. This would be the sign that I have overcome, but depression is a cruel mistress. Right when you are on the precipice of success, she whispers "Are you sure you are good enough for this? What if you fuck up?" Needless to say, today is going to be a rollercoaster. Buying a bottle of Blanton's on the way home tonight and we'll go from there.

I can't speak directly to the anxiety/depression, but I can say that "imposter syndrome" is not limited to those folks.  Periodically many very successful folks wonder "how the hell did I get here - can I really do this?".  A lot of us work with no real safety net, and it can be pretty sobering to dwell on that. 

So if you're having those feelings, take some comfort in the fact that it's very "normal" to have those doubts.  I hope you get that promotion, focus on the tasks at hand, and enjoy growing into the new position.  Good luck!

Yeah, nobody was born knowing how to do any job.  They all had to learn it somewhere.  

And most of the time that was by actually doing it for the first time on the job . . . like Brian at MGoBlog!

Seems to have worked out OK.
