I unexpectedly and happily am hanging out with my son this weekend.  Probably will take him fishing for a bit and then making some type of soup or stew.  Maybe a Hot Pot of Beef or a Thai chicken/coconut milk thing.  Any other suggestions? (we do chili often so I think that one is out).

Nothing better than time with the kids, especially if it's unplanned.  My suggestion is be cocky - plan to make a simple bouillabaisse with the fish you caught.  And hide some decent mild-but-firm fish in the fridge in case you strike out, along with some clams and shrimp.  With luck you won't need the purchased fish.

Damn, now I want some bouillabaisse.

(just in case...)  Get a nice flank steak, trim it, and throw it in the slow cooker on top of a tablespoon or so of butter.  Season that puppy as you like - at a minimum, salt and pepper it - then add a few small white or red potatoes, carrots, onions, whole garlic cloves, and celery stalks.  Cut the celery and carrots into 3-4 in. pcs.  Add a generous spoonful of apple cider vinegar.  After that, pour in enough vegetable broth (get the kind in the carton, and get organic) to cover the whole works and let it cook on the middle setting while you are out fishing.  When you get back from fishing, dinner is ready.

Very well can be. I consider an announcement as hiring the coach. He can finish out the season with San Fran, but if Oakland pulls the big upset he may likely be at Bo's desk early. But I'm still not dropping the idea of John Harbaugh (who also may not make the playoffs).

Can't wait for the baseless speculation and unfounded rumor mill to swirl today. I hate to say it but I really enjoy this drama.

Yeah, I kind of like it too, lame as it is.

We don't have a bowl game and basketball is still in the "pre-season", so it gives me something to do.

I joined this blog because of the first coaching search back in Haloscan days, so I feel at home.

Pretty sure this is my first posbang that wasn't the friday before a Michigan football game or a bigger hoops contest. That coupled with the massive amount of work I have to do this weekend...feels kinda weird. Oh well, Go Badgers, Go Raiders, Go Wings, GO BLUE!!!

I don't read internet news. I despise Facebook. But during the football season I read Mgoblog like 10 times a day. So this special CC time of basically unlimited content, even if most of it is silly speculation, is Christmas come early for me.

I'm making a drive out to the sticks for work today, so I won't be able to check Mgoblog incessantly. Help me get over this travesty with a heavy banging.

Today I bang because I like our options for footballl. Even if we don't land Harbaugh it looks like there are some other good options out there and we're not competing with any other programs at this point. We're sitting in a good place.

I also bang for John Beilien who somehow gets it done with players you just wouldn't expect him to get it done with. God bless Beilien and basketball season.
