Friday Night: What are you drinking?

Submitted by Blerg on

It's Friday. I'm drinking. You're probably drinking. If you're not you're...1) working, 2) married, 3) responsible. None of those are fun.  Not too sure if these are welcome during the season, BUT it's an "interesting" season. Anyway,  my girlfriend just moved in tonight and she's already yelling at me for watching football, so time to self medicate. I'm drinking gin and tonics, my go to. What says you?

PS: A Wolverine could totally eat a Terrapin.

At Oddsides in Grand Haven tonight. They change up their brews regularly, but never disappoint. Tonight I'm having their Groundskeeper Willie Scottish ale. Yet another W. Michigan microbrewery making a name for themselves.

I also had a Backwoods Bastard last night - absolutely love that brew. Followed it up with a Green Flash Imperial IPA, then a Revolution Oktoberfest, and finally back to Founders with a Breakfast Stout. Good times

Helen Turley is an American winemaker and wine consultant, known for bringing several Californian cult wines to the public awareness, and as the owner of a 9-acre (3.6 ha) boutique winery, Marcassin Vineyard. The wines Turley sells are cult wines...you generally can't buy Turley at retail stores, and have to get off a wait list just to purchase Turley wines. So yeah...Turley is more of a cult type wine than 2 buck chuck.

Antifreeze.  It's gonna be damn cold in Ann Arbor to start the day, with light freezing rain later changing to just occasional light rain once it gets above the freezing point.

Thought the antifreeze in advance might help.

I'm enjoying Blackheart spiced rum and Coke Zero.  Blackheart is a delicious spiced rum with an alcoholic volume of 46%, similiar to Sailor Jerry both in strength and flavor.  This rum has strong cherry and vanilla flavors.  Think of it as a much more potent and flavorful Captain Morgan.  A handle of Blackheart will cost you less than $25.  Sometimes I like to mix this rum with Bacardi as a slightly less potent  libation  opposed to the former straight up.

I am fairly certain that drinking (also the draining effects of a persistent cold) are why I woke up at my desk at 1 AM. I was not working, but I am married - apparently it is responsibility in this regard which eluded me. Oh well, it was Friday night and I am occasionally allowed to pre-game. Sometimes this season, the more prep time I have had for bracing myself, the better I've been.
