Friday Night Shut-Ins Big Belly Expansion: What are you drinking?

Submitted by WildcatBlue on
It's been a while. With the gf out of town for the weekend I'm taking the opportunity to quaff a few Dogfish Head Chicory Stouts and play some music uncomfortably loud. What is your drink tonight? Is it nice? What are you rocking out to? Bonus points for any discussion of World Cup Soccer, How The Hell We Survive Until Football Season, or the Indignity of Pretending Valentine's Day Is Real. Cheers.

Started w/ a couple of Hopslams but they're too hoppy for me. Scaled back to the ol' standby Heineken. I'll know I've gone to far tonight if I talk myself into a "goodnight yayga bawm". I've said too much.

Tonight I'm starting off with Beefeater and ginger ale. I plan on getting pretty lubricated on that before my friend picks me up to go to the bars... I'm poor right now.

the night off with mexican food, and some Patron Margaritas. Now it's on to some Sam Smith's Tadcaster Oatmeal Stout. I've never made beer before, but I've made wine twice and it was really good. The best part is most of the work is nature just doin' it's thing, and you just have to mix some stuff, and rack the wine (remove sediment). I think beer involves some cooking, if I'm not mistaken.

I was drinking Bells Two Hearted. Now I'm on to 21st Amendment "Brew Free or Die IPA" - very good. This while I'm watching the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics. USA!!!

I thought Michigan fans were Burgundy sippin' intellectuals. You guys are a bunch of beer drinking rubes. I am sittng here drinking a bottle of 2002 Vincent Girardin Charmes Chambertin with a plate of tempered cheeses. I'll follow that with a small pour of 1990 Chateau Guiraud Sauternes for a nightcap. Who the fuck am I kidding. I am drinking a diet Dr Pepper and pulling out my Indian rug....Neil Young style.

So in tribute I'm listening to The Fixx, and drinking an unholy concoction of cheap Cooks Champagne and cranberry juice. Yeah, it tastes as bad now as it did over 25 years ago. But I did have cool hair back then.

I'm not drinking anything. The 1.5 hour trip to get liquor taxed almost as much as Canada... also known as living in East Texas... makes it tough picking. But these Canadian Olympic Opening Ceremonies have me thinking I might be tripping balls.

School. Didn't investigate that until after the transfer. The good news is 4 towns have a referendum pending for mid-May to start selling beer within their limits. Right now it's 45 minute drive to buy beer or I can go to a bar and pay $8-10 for a drink. It's bat shit crazy. They quoted a journalism senior at my school saying other towns can sell beer as long as Tyler doesn't. My head asploded. I cannot understand it at all. I'm actively searching for people who are pushing the cause of beer in the local areas to make it more accessible.
