So I'm just doing some light studying, playing MW3, and chilling on the hookah tonight.
Friday Night Open Thread
I hear ya, tonight's my all-nighter. Gotta love papers due Saturday morning.
as well...red wine (im on a diet) layin low playin halo
I'm watching Kingdom of Heaven while drinking some Hoegaarden and finishing up my urban policy exam...the first two parts are pretty good, the latter not so much.
Fraoch Heather Ale. Very unique.
If you have a small Gnome hanging around I'd say go for it
Next week as well, but right now I am relieving some stress with a little UV Blue.
It's been a quiet evening. The wife is at work, the kids are asleep, and I poured myself some Strongbow and sat down to watch "Moneyball". Now that this is over, there is the Sam Houston St. versus Montana St. game for my football fix, or sort of just listen to the game and read MGoBlog into the wee hours as I do most Fridays.
There's also some music in the background - Falco, actually.
"Dreh dich nicht um
Der Kommissar geht um
Er wird dich anschau'n und du weisst darum
Die Lebenslust bringt dich um...
Alles klar, Herr Kommissar?"
I'm not sure that I would want to live in a world where there are Falco lyrics other than the chorus of Rock Me Amadeus.
Had my work holiday party this PM; forced to be Santa. All the pictures with Santa today include Santa's beer.
Wife has an upper respiratory infection so she's asleep on the couch. On my 2nd Weihenstephaner Oktoberfestbier wondering what to buy on Amazon.
Well, if you're still wondering what to buy, I hear matching onesies are a hot item this year.
Lol. As long as they don't come with those pillows.
That UPS man casts a spell easily.
For Santa's beer.
Watching Dateline and getting ready to do laundry. Dream big!
I'm digging into my traditional Sam Adams holiday sampler, and saving the best beers for last, which means I started today with one of the Holiday Porters (solid as porters go, but porters aren't my favorite things in the world) and I'm about five minutes from cracking one of the plain old Boston Lagers (c'mon guys, with all the different beers that have been in this thing over the years, can't you resurrect one to replace the basic one I could've easily gotten if I'd wanted?)
Drinking some Pepe Nero and trying to work on an auditing project before my group meets tomorrow. Really want to eat popcorn and watch something on netflix. Any suggestions for netflix?
Each one is amazing.
A bit out there but I was surfing through the stream-able movies the other night to find something interesting to watch and stumbled upon a movie called Balibo. It's about the story of 5 Australian reporters who went into East Timor to report on the invasion of Indonesia in the mid-1970s. Not for everybody but a suggestion, nonetheless!
(FTR, the suggestion of the movie is what I meant by out there, as I don't think it was a box office hit by any means. The movie itself is not "out there".)
MI-5 is the British 24 if that is up your alley. It took me a few episodes to take a liking to it.
Just got home from work and it's a Two Hearted and League of Legends type of night, pretty boring but after a 12 hour shift it's much needed.
There are good days and bad ones. Somehow cracking open a Zombie Dust when I got home tonight made everything a little better. Then a Cigar City Tocobago Red Ale followed by another Zombie Dust and those demons are on the run. Just finished a nightcap of Breakfast Stout while having a bit of Vosges chocolate with bacon. Yes, there is hope for a better tomorrow. Night all.
It took me like 20 minutes to figure out what this was saying.
Unlike Ghost...I've yet to figure this f**king phrase out...
Edit: Got it..sort of.
Yeah me neither. I was just embarassed that after 20 minutes, I still don't really get it.
If Guinness is good for you, just think what two can do.
In other words, have more than one beer, ya raging drunk, you know you want to.
Hmmm. Sense. You made some.
It's that damned first sentence. It just doesn't vibe.
This reminds me of something my dad used to say. Except I understood what he was talking about.
Fuzzy wuzzy wuz a bear
Fuzzy wuzzy had no hair
Fuzzy wuzzy wuzn't fuzzy
No, he wuzn't. See? It's just a hairless bear. But this bird?!? Did the toucan write that? What the hell is that toucan talking about? Do toucans even talk? Do toucans drink? If so, why Guinness? BadFish is so confused, drinks more bourbon... Gets more confused...
It's ok. I had no idea what it meant for a while either. Just read the second toucan as two can
Well aren't we the anarchist bunch tonight. Working, so my smart-ass is at the bottom of the list as far as "having a good night" is concerned. Probably hit up a watering hole after work with the GF and throw a couple back. Wish I had the beer options many of you have; it's a bit lacking down here in Iowa (of course there's some good stuff to find but many of the beers mentioned on here I want to try and the beers I have tried and want to purchase to consume more of, are not sold in these areas).
How's everybody like the new Led Zeppelin album, Celebration Day? (For those who don't know, they put on a show back in 2007 with John Bonham's son, his dad being the original drummer, playing drums. The album of said concert came out a few weeks back.) I have to say I dig most of it. It's not the greatest thing ever, but all things considered, I think they did a pretty good job of reliving some of the great songs. My opinion anway. (For the record, I'm in my "twenties").
Also in my "twenties" and a big classic rock fan. I'm more of a Pink Floyd fan and I have a special place in my heart for Jethro Tull, but also love Zeppelin and many others. I knew they played some shows a few years back but hadn't heard of a new album, but you can bet your ass I will be picking up a copy at best buy first thing tomorrow morning. Thanks for the heads up and here's to hoping that Iowa gets the kind of microbrew collection that Grand Rapids, Michigan has. It truly is a great beer city and I consider myself extremely lucky to live within a few blocks of bars like "Hopcat" ranked 3rd best beer bar in the world by Beer Advocate Magazine. And "Stella's" a bar featuring 200+ types of whiskey and GQ Mag's "best burger in America" and the new Grand Rapids Brewing company, home of the most excellent local brews and seriously amazing bar food. The kicker is, all 3 are owned by the same guy. He is my hero, he also has a lot of my money.
Believe it or not, the life of a firefighter isn't as glamourous as they show on TV. Right now I'm in my recliner watching Entourage, eating nachos, and getting paid for it. Soon I'll go to bed, I'll get paid while I do that too. It's pretty rough.
According to thewolverine magazine (Rivals publication), his 15 TDs in November (9 passing, 6 running) are the most for any month for any QB in school history.
So I'm reading that. And having a Stella while the wife and boy sleep.
Finals coming up in a week, so I'm staying in tonight. Splitting my time between studying and watching Arrested Development on Netflix. Why did I not watch this show earlier?
Perhaps because you didn't have finals coming up and thus didn't need to procrastinate?
Just kidding...(kind of ... I know I tended to discover engaging diversions at times when I shouldn't have been diverted).
Are you really calling out the college kid who's staying in on a Friday night to study for poor study habits? I'm the least of your worries right now bub.
On another note, I think that's the first time I've used the word bub in about...10 years? Wow.
I, too, didn't watch Arrested Development until I got to college. My roommates would talk about it all the time so I finally sat down and started watching it over xmas break my freshman year and holy crap was I missing out. I've now gone through the series 3-4 times and still pick up things the writers subtley put in.
Such a good show.
Better late than never. Also, I watched the first two seasons as a middle schooler, if I recall, and thought it was a kind of funny show. I went back this past year and did the same as you are doing. Man, did much of that show go over my head back then or what. So...It's a show that's better as you get a little older/mature(?)/wiser anyway!
Have recently discovered the cringe inducing awesome of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Welcome to the world of Larry! Great stuff. And I'm not even a Seinfeld fan (blasphemy, I know!).
My favorite line from Curb Your Enthusiam: Larry: "Is it considered art, if I can do it?"
Working an overnight. Not too excited at present and hoping it stays that way to get some sleep. Drinking diet cherry dr pepper.
At what point do Walking Dead fans admit the plot lines are devolving into an incoherent mess, even relative to the zombie movie/show genre?
Interesting take on the show.
I can't say I'd agree with that. At the same time, I haven't thought too particularly hard about that show; I keep to an open, simple mind (not saying the show is simple) toward it and just look forward to the next episode each week. I'm truly curious as to why you think it's an incoherent mess? I don't want to be a sheep following a mess; enlighten me!
Yep. I agree. It's a great show, and it bugs me when people won't give it a shot just because it's popular (not referring to the guy who posed the question, btw). Great production value, interesting characters, and crazy cliffhangers and callbacks to earlier episodes. Love it.
Although I agree that there is a lot of non-zombie shit going on in The Walking Dead, the fact remains that zombies are rarely the main antagonist in those shows. I've never read the graphic novels either, but I can at least appreciate that there IS a storyline to be followed, unlike most shows that don't know when to stop.
I miss the old walking dead discussion threads. We used to get negged hard after each episode but it was worth it. My roommate and I have no where to discuss our crazy theories anymore.
Eh. I imagine once February comes around and the second half of the season resumes it'll be an okay topic to discuss. Yes, basketball will be the prime material, and rightfully so, as a Big Ten title will be on the line as well as a No. 1 seed(!!!), but I think such material as a very popular show should be legit message board material in the middle of Winter. (My humble opinion, anyways).
a fifth of smirnoff lime for $6 so I'm having a great night drinking that and watching the Kenny Demens 4th down stop over and over
I'm home still angry over Borges incompetence...is he fired yet?
I know one of the rockettes but never have seen them perform.
And Fat Tire Ranger
This feels like being a grammar nazi, but, this is obviously more important. "Fat Tire" and "Ranger" are both beers made my "New Belgium" brewing company. Both are exceptional, I prefer the ranger, which I would guess is what you are enjoying tonight. Fat Tire just happens to be the most popular beer from this particular brewery. Either way, great choice and enjoy.
Be diverse. Rebalance. Know your investor profile. Buy life insurance and disability insurance. You pass
Makers mark and a glass. V for Vendetta with my brother and nephew. Not bad at all if you ask me.
shave your V for Vagina?
I keed, I keed.
I won't lie, I have recently manscaped...
just had yakiniku in the east village. watching some nba (yawn) and going through some new music on my computer. should be backing for istanbul tomorrow. wishing college football never ended.
Just realized I was 1 point away from getting to 1000pts (which embarrassingly took over 4 years to accomplish). So I though, what better way to reach this milestone by posting something that represents what I contribute to the blog on a semi-regular basis: a pointless gif! Enjoy.
I can't decide if there is one, two, or three women in this. I know it isn't four, but I can't decide what one or two of the "others" are... Should I stop drinking or is anyone else confused by one or two of the "others"?
featuring Beyonce and Justin Timberlake
Drinking pints of Peroni.
It's pouring in Bolivia. I'm standing here, wet.
the raid redemption and i must say that it's gotta be one of the best action movies i have seen....and i have seen most..right up there with the killer and hard boiled by john woo...a definite must watch for action film fans
Little Sumpin, then took my kids to dinner and the mall...let them check out Brookstone, which meant they tried every massaging gadget there and added the remote control helicopter to their Christmas lists. Home by 9, in bed by 10...still wasting time on line at 11:30.
