Friday Night Linking Thread
Bit of a slow week, so thought I would throw out an interesting article I read today. It's about the Amish, including some little known facts about their communities. For me, the takeaway is: should we be envious of the Amish, maybe just a bit?

Yes, I have one eye on the basketball games tonight, but tough to get into it without our team out there.
What interesting stuff have you read lately? Please share.

You were great on The Office. Better on Mgoblog. Usually the architect of my favorite gifs.

God I love this place. You fuck a thread title up, prepare to be ribbed. Keeps you on your toes.
Hopefully we get some commit news this weekend.
I revisited dontevenreply.com. I think it was discussed on this blog a few years ago, but it's worth bringing up again for newcomers here. Some of favorite reads from that site are:
Kittens for my tiger, Disguised Weapons, Fake invoice, Rocked, Operation soccer escort, and Stubborn shovel seller.
Personally,
- Operation Soccer Escort
- Disguised Weapons
- High Rise Fridge Delivery
Going back and looking at the all email list, Barely Legal Little Leaguers and Special Skaters are hilarious as well.
we had tears in our eyes on some of those reads.
Disregard anything I said about a tiger.

"Attention-Grabbing Ad" and "Apologetic Nationals Fan' were pretty funny exchanges too. I might be on this site for a while actually, but it is OK, for I can get back to Duke-Utah at any point. Well, then again, some of these exchanges are rather intricate, so perhaps I will pick it up at halftime instead.
This is great, thanks.
...because their IPA When Worlds Collide is what I'm about to drink. I picked up a growler of this fine Centennial-hopped IPA at halftime of the Gonzaga-UCLA game (also tried some Velvet Elvis Peanut Butter Porter while I was there--yum!). Just opened it for my first pour a few minutes ago; it's got just enough maltiness to balance out a very generous helping of hops. Gooooood brew!
For you Kalamazoo-area MGoHopheads, the Beer Exchange in Kalamazoo is going to have an Arclight release this coming Thursday (4/2/15) for those of you not yet willing to make the 30 minute drive down I-94 to the brewpub:
...and you'll find When Worlds Collide IPA is one of the four Arclight brews featured there.

interesting folks. many live close to us and since we farm our paths cross (beneficially) with them on a somewhat regular basis. we have employed them to process our birds, as we raise and process hundreds every year and we find we run out of time at harvest to do the packaging.
they have some beautiful animals, horses in particular, on their farm. the work horses are monstrous. it is fun to see an electric drill in the barn or the shop once in a while. the inconsistency in their beliefs and actions are easy to see, but perhaps no more than the rest of us with electricity, and zippers (taboo), friday night drinking threads, etc.

I love the smell of fried chicken in the evening, it smells like Yoders.
In Sarasota, there are two really good Amish restaurants, and I would recommend either to anyone coming down to vacation, or whatever. All of the food is fantastic, and the people are kind and friendly, plus, there is a bakery in each where you can buy baked goods, pies, cakes, jellies, jams, whatever you can think of that they make.

we have a 15 passenger van that i converted to 4WD, and when the amish see it they covet it. they ask if i will rent it to them, which in their world means, will i drive them places in the van.

for a couple minutes now, waiting for something screwy to happen, or for some critter or monster to attack/chase them, or even for dynamite blasts. And yet,...nothing!

in the way-back machine. whatever happened to that guy, 1-hit (maybe 2) wonder?
More innovative than many others here.
