For those so inclined to watch some football, even if it is not impressive football, we have the 1-2 Hawaii Warriors versus the 2-2 BYU Cougars on ESPN tonight.
LONG OVERDUE
When you're giving up an average of nearly 400 yards per game, the "bend, but please don't disintegrate on the first offensive play" philosophy makes this entirely possible.
That being said, I hope Hanohano is OK. That looked really bad, and indeed, he is being carried out on a stretcher.

Good thing HanoHano is moving his arms...
But agree, BYU should take this 14 plus.

Yes, but surely Glades Day vs. Yulee is a matchup of the greats, right?

My opinion - he was not defenseless and it shouldn't be a penalty. The DT was chasing down the play and the OG blocked him.
Two very scary injuries for Hawaii already. Hope these guys are ok.
Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.

QB scramble on 3rd and 19 converts for BYU. That was a GERGfense moment.
Abort, Retry, Fail?
I do applaud the effort - he did have his arms out, fully expecting something, perhaps not the ball, to fall into his arms. The ball fell some 15 yards behind him, so he was demonstrably not entirely in the game.
EDIT: I like the politeness of the Hawaii defense as they chase down BYU - "Would you possibly consider....yes, I see you're nearing the end zone, but if you wouldn't mind putting a foot out of bounds...."

oooh yeah work it just like that
Abort, Retry, Fail?
Did that BYU receiver just run the wrong way?
The BYU offense being the BYU offense a la 2012 there....short screen for a loss, a QB scramble into heavy traffic for a loss...the normal stuff that somehow has won them two games this year.
EDIT: Hawaii gets a rather improbable first down, given the way they have played so far. BYU reminded me of the great Police Academy line during Schroeder's scramble - "You had him there for a minute, he was flinchin'....."

Regarding this, I will say that, if you're the Pirates or a Pirates fan, nothing could possibly punctuate your epic collapse better than being no-hit with about a week or so left in the season.
EDIT: The Cougars aren't simply finding creases, but the Hawaii defense is graciously opening entire valleys for the rushing game. If you're Norm Chow, would one of the halftime adjustments be actually rescinding the "just kidding" moment and trying to stop the run?
DOUBLE EDIT: It should be noted that Hawaii has managed all of 86 yards of total offense for the game thus far, so what they really need right now involves the Hawaii version of Tyrone Wheatley at RB and Anthony Carter at WR. What? This is not possible?

I think Hawaii would be a great replacement for ND on the schedule. They are a tomato can, and everyone in the program can get a trip to Hawaii every other year. It makes no sense to schedule teams that are a threat to win during the non-conference portion of the schedule, but everyone is sick of seeing local directional schools on the schedule.
Hawaii would be a perfect "compromise" choice.
I bet BYU takes this one by at least 2 TDs.
