Two saisons at the local beer hall and moved onto a nightcap with Bowmore Legend, my everyday single malt of choice.
Friday night drinking thread.
A medium gravity, dark Scottish ale whose sweet and slightly fruity character is balanced by a fine roast barley flavour.
I'm sitting here drinking my Oberon (Not OT), after doing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. It's all over ESPN and social media. I was thinking it would be a good thing if we participated here at MGoBlog. ALS is a terrible disease, and I've noticed we have some very charitable people on the board. Could be a good thing.
(I didn't want to make an entire thread about this, but I thought I'd just throw it out there)
Wheat Ale. Bloomington, Indiana.
Vodka tonics after a solid 13 hour day
is usually beer/ale (working on my 2nd Founders Pale Ale of the night right now), an occasional mixed drink or tow is something I sometimes enjoy.
Lately I've been seeing more people I know keeping some name-brand Vodka on hand. I'm a complete novice on that type of hard alcohol----what do you recommend/what's your vodka brand of choice?
Mohawk. On the rocks.
Titos, water, lemon. Get drunk and hydrate all night, feel great in the morning.
Kettle one or a great cheap bottle is svedka
for your vodka suggestions. I've heard of most of those brands, and theyre probably all better than the rot gut stuff that I used to buy cheap back in my college days.
spells it wrong even after providing a link. GJ, Yak.
Jack and Coke sounds great right now... Sadly just Bud Light here, watching Torii Hunter continue his parade of AAA-level at-bats.
1 Jigger Rye
1 oz lemon juice
Dash grenadine ice
Mix ingredients - pour into cocktail or highball
Fill with Claret Wine
Because the tigers are pissing me off
And since nothing is on tv I am starting the second season of The Wire. Watching S1 several years ago and never had time for S2.
Bulleit Frontier Whiskey with a couple cubes - outstanding. Ran out of Sweet Vermouth for my go-to Manhattan, but really enjoying some top shelf KY bourbon in its pure form.
Please tell me that was an Omar reference. If so, well done.
FInishing out the Tigers game before moving on to a movie or two, I've just got some Hacker-Pschorr and the vain hope that we keep this 6-2 and get five runs in the bottom of the inning. Other than that, it's typical Friday night chilling / modding around these parts, aside from my neighbor just now deciding that something needs a chainsaw taken to it. I wish I was joking - that is pretty damn noisy.
Hacker-Pschorr is one of my favorites. It's rare around my area unfortunately.
I had a run in with a few too many Killians and some bad cigarettes about ten years ago. Haven't been able to touch either since or I reflexively get nauseated. Quote unfortunate because I actually like that beer.
Wedding in Maine last weekend, checking out Martha's Vineyard for the first time at a bed n breakfast.
After dinner tonight, sitting on the porch on my 4th Tito's and soda. Life is good.
Fuck Notre Dame and Ohio...that is all.
Mint julep washed down with a beer
Purple drank. In honor of Brian Kelly's face tonight.
Founders Dissenter IPL
Sierra Nevada, and an Entourage marathon. Pretty low key, trying to save myself for a wedding tomorrow.
Vodka and blueberry lemonade. Pretty damn refreshing on a nice summer night.
MFin good. I had some Summer Shandy because summer.
About to watch the series finale of House now that the Tigers game is done.
Over the past few months I've re-watched the whole series (more like 6 months). I think the last season was actually not bad at all, really funny actually.
Couple glasses of Apothic Red.
At Hoxeyille music festival. Bellaire brown and some soft parade earlier.
Canoeing the Pine River is the reason I am familiar with that little town. Didn't know they had a music festival, but I sure do remember the great canoe trips down that river!
Then you sir are missing out. And I still have not canoed the pine as I spend my time in this area in pentwater state park. Hokeyville music festival is a great time!
espolon tequila. I'm all in
Sam Adams Octoberfest and then Paulaner Salvator Double Bock.
A growler of Founders Curmudgeon Old Ale.
And now some Hopslam.
That Hopslam is a good 6 months out of date, yo.
Cloyinglysweetslam this time of year...
however, the DO sometimes do summer rebrews for events
With some jaeger in between. Bout to get druuuunk yo.
Whatever happened to this huge scheduling announcement? Did I just glaze over it?
Nothing announced today
I had my first beers since the NFC championship game in January tonight. Had one Dirt Wolf and a Sculpin. I missed IPAs.
Can I ask, why the drought?
To lose weight. I had a lot of weight to lose so I didn't allow myself any beer until I achieved my goal weight.
Bells Mars (from their new planetary series) followed by Bells The Oracle
That Mars is pretty tasty stuff.
Oatmeal Yeti, Westbrook Gose, Knee Deep Citra
Summer wheat, session IPA, all simcoe IPA, Berliner Weisse, now finishing with a coffee stout.
Founders Dissenter, Bell's Mars, and now Monkey Shoulder scotch.
loving this "modus hopperandi" from somewhere in Colorado. really awesome ipa I just discovered.
Ska Brewing is inconsistent (in terms of QC) but I like the Modus Hoperandi quite a bit. Just don't be surprised if you get a terrible one once in a while.
Had a Great Lakes Wandering Pelican at Ashley's earlier. Good stuff.
Just leaving uproar fest. Wasn't bad at all
Pretty rare find in CA. There is plenty of 90 min and even some 120, but I don't find the 60 very often. Excellence goes without saying.
'Cause it's Colorado and Dale's is awesome.
Will be bringing some to Ann Arbor next week when we move the MGoDaughter into her dorm.
Couple Centennial IPAs.
Drinking some Heileman Special Export. Same company that makes Old Style.
"In the Olden days along the Rhein,
The Germans could be found
Lying around on lion skins,
Drinking another round."
Water and Gatorade. I just ran 6 miles.
Spent the day moving my daughter to Seattle. Celebrating with bubbly now. Moet & Chandon
Can you pass some of that over here ?
God the Tigers suck. Fire Ausmus.
Pumking in my belly, Joe Budden in my eardrums, and some EA Sports NCAA Football on the screen. Pretty good wrap up after my night out.
At this time of year, well actually usually beginning in late April I'm home in mi casa by Lake MI, waiting for the fb season to jump into gear. This year I made a quick visit back home, paid my property taxes, said hello and goodbye to a few people and returned to Paradise, Ajijic, state of Jalisco, Mexico to open a bar with a couple of friends. Normally toss down Centanario, a popular tequila, but tonight Pueblo Viejo had a nice offer, a bottle and roughly 12 ounce throw in for like 250 pesos, i.e, 18 bucks or so. Good buzz. Good times.
