Friday NCAAFB Boise vs Fresno Open Thread

Submitted by formerlyanonymous on

I'm seeing Boise -7.5. I'm rooting on Fresno so we can stop hearing about Boise State, but I don't see it happening. They managed to take a Wisconsin team into OT, but Wisconsin also had several players out or slowed with flu.

I wasn't a fan of Boise State's home jerseys.. but those away jerseys aren't too shabby. Any chance Fresno competes or will this be one sided (as the rivalry has been for the last few years)?

They look like they could play anybody right now. The biggest question for me is whether Fresno (and therefore Wisconsin) are really that bad? They played Wisconsin right down to the wire, but they don't look like they could beat the Little Sisters of Charity tonight.

Greatest trick Boise ever pulled (besides a hook and ladder with the game on the line): making people think they're an all-offense mid-major like Hawai'i in 2007, or Houston, etc. This team plays serious defense, no matter who it's against.

needs to one the ball if they want to have a shot.

They ran well against Wisconsin, and have looked much better running in this game than passing - pound the ball and set up the play action pass.

Honestly if they run the table and go undefeated I don't see why they don't deserve a spot. They might be a smaller school but time and again BYU and Boise State have shown they can play with the big boys.

They might play conference games against inferior opponents, but winning all your games, no matter who you play, is a very VERY difficult thing to do.

I'd have to agree. They've played like a top 15 team, which is pretty much a qualifier to play in the BCS. I don't think that I believe this for every team, but from what we've seen so far from BSU/BYU, they both should qualify if they go undefeated.

Again, that doesn't mean every undefeated team should be in the BCS. Hawaii shouldn't have been there, undefeated or not.

Yeah I mean these teams have already padded their resumes with big wins over BCS teams, including one Oklahoma team that was in the National Championship game last year.

I do agree though that not every undefeated team should make it, but the ones who are playing good teams and winning or blowing out the weak teams they are forced to play should make it.

But teams like Boise St. or BYU who have a traditional history of being good mid-majors should (and will) get favorable votes and selections from the coaches and BCS.

Love the rip on Pryor by Mark May and Kevin Durant. Durant: "Man, Jacory Harris might be better than Terrelle Pryor". May: "Wow, that's a stretch, what's next, he's going to tweet Florida's going to be good this year?" Love it.

Titus Young (#4 on Boise) is a stud. He had to sit out most of last year for disciplinary reasons. If he can stay on the field the whole year, he gives Boise a legit downfield, big play threat. I think his play is key on whether they can go undefeated.
