"Mitch McGraw" - Digger
Made me cringe.
That he has no idea what he's talking about when he calls Oladipo player of the year. He hasn't even watched Michigan play...
BC is up two on Miami at half.*
BC was down 21-8 but leads 27-25 at the half over Miami.
The Indiana v Illinois game has been a ass whipping. I thought Indiana would win but was hoping it would be a good game.
Illinois' first half alone made me ponder regretting buying a ticket to this 1st session...Pleeze score moar poyntz
My mistake - the espn gamecast window did not update in time.
Question: If Michigan wins the BTT is there any way they don't get a #1 seed?
That 'might' only happen if both Duke and Louisville/Georgetown also win their respective conference tournaments.
The champ game is Sunday at 3:30 eastern, and selection Sunday starts 7:30pm. Will the committee take into consideration the results of the championship game? I feel like the obvious answer is 'yes' that they do, especially if it's for a potential one-seed, I just don't know the deadline for the actual decisions and whether or not that would make a difference.
They make multiple brackets taking all possible Sunday results into consideration
I saw an interview with the head of the NCAA selection committee a year or two ago and they said that for the really late games (like the BTT championship game), they have two scenarios discussed and laid out based on the two teams playing and they then make their final choice based on the actual result. This can be to decide the 1/2 seeds or for a team that has no chance of an at-large berth playing in the final.
Yea it's definitely not a guarantee we would be a 1. If Duke wins the ACC, they are a definite 1 seed. If Louisville/Georgetown win the Big East (especially by beating the other in the final), I think they get a 1 seed. And I think Indiana is locked into a 1 seed at this point.
Kansas winning the B12 would be interesting between us and them if it came down to that. And then there is Gonzaga, I have no idea what the committee would do if all these teams above won and had to be compared with Gonzaga, but I'm pretty sure Gonzaga will get a 1.
Illinois looking much better on offense this half so far. Zeller is destroying them, 9/11 for 18.
for me to really dislike all the other coaches at the (ED) upper tier (/ED) schools in the Big 10. I can respect Tom Izzo for what he's been able to accomplish, but I don't respect or like Tom Crean, Bo Ryan, or Thad Matta.
I saw that Adidas made them a "Rise to the occasion" shirt too. I wouldn't put it past Crean to have "Rose" ones made, but there are the others on Adidas' website (I Google'd it).
IU shooting 70% from the floor in the 2nd half.
And there lead hasn't increased, haha. Weird game
Every time Illinois makes a big shot or a good play Indiana puts them back in there place. I hate to admit it but they are just a damn good basketball team. I hope we beat them like a red headed step child Saturday.
Illinois would need Paul to go off and make a bunch of shots in the last 8 mins if they are to have a chance to win.
How does Oladipo score so much in the paint? it's like he just sneaks in there everyttime and outrebounds.
Maybe his minor is Physics? In all seriousness though, this was the exact question I was asking myself throughout the UM-IU game last Sunday.
Thats probably the game. Damn really wanted Indiana to be pushed today get them a little tired for saturday.
Offensive Rebound Percentage:
Illinois - 28.6%
Indiana - 50.0%
Defensive Rebound Percentage:
Illinois - 55.0%
Indiana - 69.0%
Also, Illinois with an effective FG% of 38.2% right now. Indiana's is 57.6%
Up 13 pts, less than 5 min left, and they're full court pressing. I hate Indiana.
Uhhhhh... did you see the end of the last IL-IN game? I can certainly see why they're not taking any chances in this one.
Apparently, Illinois has "a quarter of a million alumni in Chicago"?
Seemed high to me, a comment that stuck out.
By my math, that's about 9% of Chicago went to Illinois. Yeah, I'd say that's awfully high.
The BC - Miami game is tied at 50 with under 5 mins to go. It would be nice to have one less contender for the 2 seed.
Oladipo 360 slam to go up by 18.
Oladipo goes for a 360 degree dunk up 16 to go up 18. Indiana is full of a lot of assholery. Was a nice one, though, so there's that.
Great dunk by oladipo, but did he travel....twice? Receiving the ball he took a step and another, then dribbled. then he grabbed the ball took 3 or 2 (and a half ??) steps then dunked
it looked like a travel when he got the ball
That whole dunk montage didn't feature one Michigan player?
Lol I noticed that...I guess our dunks weren't good enough
Why is Indiana fouling?
How did such a blowout game take so long to wrap up? Now the Michigan game will start late and I'll miss the end due to a 1:30 (PST) meeting. Death to Indiana/Illinois.
Indiana was fouling for some reason at the end. It was a little weird.
Crean addresses the Illinois assistant coaches without incident. So...there's that.
After this year?
It would be nice to not have to face IU with him next year.
Also - that swagger really makes someone look like a douche when they aren't on your team.
He will almost surely go pro, projected in top 5 from what I've seen.
I just hope there are more Michigan fans for our game.
Crean makes it through the hand shake line without incident!
BC turns the ball over two straight times coming out of a timeout - that should wrap it up for Miami.
Miami wins 69-58, ended the game on a 14-3 run over Boston College.
The bubble is going to be very interesting this year. Tennessee and Kentucky might have knocked themselves out with losses and Ole Miss can still do the same later tonight. Bama probably needs one more win, too. The SEC could be looking at two teams, which might equal the number of Sun Belt teams in the tourney. Wow.
Iowa St. and Oklahoma are probably good in the Big XII, but a couple ACC teams are living on the edge. Virginia had a big loss today, which puts them right around the cut line I believe. And Maryland made it two in a row over Duke (while becoming the first team to beat the invincible Ryan Kelly), which gives them a chance at a spot if they can win tomorrow, most likely over UNC.
It seems like there are a whole lot of mid major teams on the bubble. Boise, La Salle, Middle Tenn., and even Southern Miss have pretty good arguments over some of these major teams. Selection Sunday should be really interesting. There will be one team that takes over Va Tech's place of being the "snub" and one team that is like Air Force a couple years back that confuses everyone.
