Not good
January 7th, 2011 at 10:14 PM ^
lovely from degrassi, and he's waving to the crowd
we'll take the game tomorrow
January 7th, 2011 at 10:13 PM ^
Of course, we would find a way to lose. Jesus Christ.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:13 PM ^
do we get any points for losing in ot?
January 7th, 2011 at 10:14 PM ^
no, i was thinking shootout, oops
January 7th, 2011 at 10:14 PM ^
We played like dogshit out there, and add to that the dogshit officiating, we were lucky to make it to OT.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:14 PM ^
Blerg.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:15 PM ^
Hogan due back? Not that the winning goal was Hunwick's fault.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:18 PM ^
I think it's a pulled groin and might be a little while
January 7th, 2011 at 11:54 PM ^
They said after the Big Chill it's a 5-6 week injury, I think.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:15 PM ^
The universe hates us.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:15 PM ^
We've all been very bad, and God is punishing us.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:17 PM ^
boo especially loud when the refs skate out. I know I will.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:17 PM ^
I don't know what it is, but there's something that just grates me to the core about losing to MSU in hockey. Such a garbage program, playing mindnumbingly boring hockey, with a coach one step above pee-wee competence...
January 7th, 2011 at 10:29 PM ^
I have no idea how they could ever bring in a recruit, especially an offensive-minded one. No wonder we reel in all the big fish.
Doesn't do shit to help us win on fridays, though. I guess the refs didn't help any, hey?
January 7th, 2011 at 10:19 PM ^
They don't deserve that, at all. Fuck. 2 of their 4 goals were on fucking 5-on-3s, go fig.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:29 PM ^
idk how to even be optimistic anymore about anything.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:43 PM ^
i know i'm going to get shit on for this and I don't fucking like it either but the wretched thought of dantonio saying "pride comes before the fall" keeps popping into my head as the shit keeps piling up. booo
January 7th, 2011 at 11:16 PM ^
that is all.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:39 PM ^
fuck that shit.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:36 PM ^
Wow, lots of vitriol here toward MSU. I figured there would be, and just wanted to confirm that U-M fans are ordinary.
About the game. You know how it goes. It's like playing your little brother in basketball. You kind of goof around and let him stay close, and then you snatch the game away from him.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:47 PM ^
Is that what you were saying after The Big Chill as well?
January 7th, 2011 at 11:07 PM ^
You mean the most overhyped sporting event ever?
It's nice, though, that U-M hockey has a chance to do something decent.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:13 PM ^
I agree. If we're going to have 104,000 people at a hockey game, we should have scheduled a competent opponent.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:52 PM ^
You know your team sucks at hockey right? Wrong sport to be bragging about these days son.
I'm pretty sure the whole world knows the 5-0 result was way closer to the truth than this BS tonight.
BTW, nice job with the dictionary words in your post. The obvious attempt to look educated enough to post on this board is flattering.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:05 PM ^
Yes, MSU hockey is in bad shape right now. That's what makes beating the Wolverines satisfying. It's actually gotten a bit boring in football, men's basketball, and women's basketball. Total domination for three years.
So you can have hockey. Have you noticed that no one outside the Midwest and Northeast even cares? And most people living in college hockey regions care, either. But you all do.
Hopefully Comley will be let go soon and MSU can get a dynamic coach. It's good to have to rebuild in at least some sports -- right?
January 7th, 2011 at 11:08 PM ^
You ever notice that outside of the Midwest and Northeast, there are about four D-1 college hockey programs, and three of them are in Colorado?
January 7th, 2011 at 11:28 PM ^
No kidding. That's why no one cares about hockey except the a small, hardcore group. Was your post supposed to contradict my point? It didn't. It supported it.
January 8th, 2011 at 12:34 AM ^
he meant they obviously wouldn't care about it because they don't have teams in those areas. just like how the US doesnt follow soccer very closely, because we don't have the big leagues here.
And you contradicted yourself by mentioning the debate fucking team... you think people care about that? lolsparty
January 7th, 2011 at 11:19 PM ^
Have you noticed that outside of the Midwest that no one even knows what Michigan State is?
January 7th, 2011 at 11:39 PM ^
You need to believe that, and it's okay. I happen to know you're wrong. There's not denying U-M is better known, but MSU isn't unknown.
With the lousy state of U-M sports -- at least those than anyone pays attention to -- I can see why you need to denigrate MSU.
By the way, go check out how the MSU and U-M debate teams have done over the past decade. I believe MSU has 3 national titles -- over the likes of Harvard, Berkeley, Northwestern, and so on. U-M isn't even in the picture.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:41 PM ^
Michigan pulls in the ratings outside of the Midwest. St8 doesn't. This is the only important comparison in terms of "visibility" that truly matters.
January 8th, 2011 at 9:56 AM ^
I've been on a couple of interviews out here in New York over the years, and every time someone reads my resume, they note that I went to Michigan and then bring up a point about MSU being good at basketball. I'm sure they know it is another school, but academically the credentials just don't carry over.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:24 PM ^
So in this one glorious post by MetricSU, I learn about Michigan State's dominance in women's basketball, and that nobody cares about college hockey.
When Michigan makes the NCAA hockey tournament again this year and Michigan State misses the NCAA tournament again, will I get to see a billboard that says Michigan State 4, Michigan 3?
January 7th, 2011 at 11:34 PM ^
of his post to me. Downplaying UM's superiority in hockey due to a lack of support, while referencing women's basketball at the same time. Typical Sparty logic right there.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:36 PM ^
On a given weekend a lot more people in the U.S. see women's college BB than see college hockey. For the first two Big Ten games the MSU women averaged 6,400 in attendance. How many people go to UM hockey games? About 6,800? And most people who follow college sports know the key players in women's BB: UConn, Geno, Tennessee, Pat.
Enjoy the NCAA hockey tournament. And BTW, MSU has won an NCAA championship more recently than UM. Right? I don't actually follow hockey very closely.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:40 PM ^
Ever notice how it's always ytMSU fans trolling on Michigan boards and not the other way around?
To your credit, you did mention the true power players in Women's Basketball. Noticably absent: ytMSU.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:50 PM ^
who has already stated that college hockey is irrelevant. If that is the case, than why exactly is he gloating about one win, by a lousy MSU team? Interesting dynamic there.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:54 PM ^
You're making us look bad.
The image to which you're contributing is the one I fight against in every one of my posts, however (un)successfully.
Did you know that we can have class and security when interacting with M folk?
January 8th, 2011 at 12:24 AM ^
You're a Spartan?

January 8th, 2011 at 8:42 AM ^
Yeah...um, great points there. Just stop now. I was at MSU during the whole JLS era, when MSU couldn't beat anyone and had to rely on the greatest comeback in school history to beat a mediocre NW team. Just stop it - you have won 3 games in a row in football, yet haven't done much else beyond that. Somebody attached to the University feels the need to rent out multiple billboards trumpetting minor victories over UM and Wiscy. You sell freaking t-shirts in the gift shop after you beat UM. Those are not actions of a dominant program "bored" with a rivalry - they are of a program confident in the knowledge that the wins were a fluke and reality will soon set in (maybe the 42 point beating by Alabama is the start).
As for basketball - wonderful for you. MSU has been one of the best CBB programs since Izzo showed up. Of course, it looks like he might not stick around forever, and MSU has slipped a bit the past couple of years (and last year's run to the Final Four could have easily been stopped that first weekend with a missed 3 here or there). But whatever, I will concede that MSU has the better basektball program now.
Women's BB? Really?
MSU's hockey team is still in the dumps, and one upset won't change that. I much rather have UM's decades of dominance over MSU's, even given MSU's Ryan Miller-led upset for the NCAA title.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:25 PM ^
You do know that we owned you in football for the better part of 100 years right? Ok so you won 3 in a row. Congrats. Call me when it gets to 6. So it's getting boring huh? Well I hope you can take solice In the fact that it will no longer be boring the next time we beat you. I'm sure it Won't upset you at all for that reason. Jesus Christ you are so illogical it boggles the mind. I'd rather die and rot in hell than be an msu fan. Even if We only have hockey. You are disgusting human beings...period.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:54 PM ^
Go back to tRCMB. If we came there every time we had beat you in something in the history of sports your board would have nothing but posts about Michigan... oh wait.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:20 PM ^
Sir you do realize that we owned you in football for the better part of 100 years right. Ok so you're getting bored after 3 wins in a row? I hope you feel that way the next time we beat you. Instead of being upset you can Take solice inthe fact that it's not boring anymore. Jesus Christ just go die somewhere. You are so illogical it's not even worse the time. But I couldn't resist.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:24 PM ^
Jesus Christ just go die somewhere
Poor phrasing due to lack of comma, already happened.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:42 PM ^
Sheesh, wrong on that, too. JC never existed, so he could never have died.
I expected a higher level of discourse on this board.
January 8th, 2011 at 12:07 AM ^
but virtually all respected historians would agree that he at least existed as a historical person, and that there is roughly the same amount of evidence for his existance as there is for Julius Ceaser.
Typical Sparty.
