Born in Flint, lived in Grand Blanc post 1967. Chose "Brimley" because I seem to be about 30+ years older than most people on here. THAT Brimley is lovely, though, and my step-father hails from the area coincedentally (now, he's really fucking ancient, but a great guy and great fun).
Flint town pride man! Come hell or high water, I want to be part of the turn around. Come back some time, we will get it great again!
God this is gonna suck
Tossing back a bottle of Jolly Pumpkin La Roja Du Kriek.
I've been waiting all week for this thread. After years of reading these threads and hearing about Bells beer I was ecstatic to find out that it was coming to MD and so far it has not disappointed.
I sampled two hearted at my liquor store and took home a 6 of Oberon and Amber ale. Delicious. Smooth too. I'm so pumped to have a go-to brew for every Michigan football game.
Any other Bells favorites? What do they role out with in the fall and winter?
The arrival of Bells has been pretty big around here this week, heavily advertised at stores and they sponsored a block party/tap takeover thing outside of my office.
Best brown ale in the fall and winter white. All great choices!

hopslam if you enjoy a hoppy, strong beer(10%)
Have a 32 Oz growler of Two Hearted in the fridge.
Bell's popped up all around Ellicott City this week.
Favorite Bell's is Sparkling (winter release).
Oberon is a nostalgic favorite...I remember it as Solsun
Sparkling is out right now. Draft only. Limited release.
I work for Bell's in sales. I'll be in Maryland and Delaware next week for our official release/crew drive. I'm excited to see the area.
Lol.
I'm in on the Trader Joe's Merlot as well...and eat Korean food more often than not weekly....but can't translate 'korean hot bean sauce' into anything I'm familiar with.
Can you describe a bit more OP?
It's a paste, available in Korean and Chinese versions, base is beans and hot peppers. You can add it to marinades, soups, even mix it in bibimbap. I make a marinade with bean paste, wine (rice or white), garlic, green onions, salt, sugar. Sometimes I ad sriracha.
Chinese name of the paste is doubanjiang. My Korean sucks so I'm not sure.
You can make a magical bbq rub with that stuff.
Gochujang also serves as a really nice glaze for slow-cooked pork belly.
i mean, my mandarin is pretty much limited to counting to ten, and getting the sound for ten correct (sounds like an electric shock), but you might be trying to slip one past us.
Either of these?
First is soy bean based, second is chili pepper based.
Third opton is a combo:
Regardless, I'm sure it is delicious. Enjoy!
EDIT: OP is typing pretty coherently after 6-ish bottles of Trader Joe's Merlot!
Actually, I think the first one is broad bean based, no? That's more like what I used tonight, but I have a tub of the second type in my fridge too. Goes well in dog soup.
My girl is from Manchuria, where the cuisine is heavily influenced by Korean, as well as Mongol.
What kind of dog do you use in the soup?
I don't make it myself, but I've dated Vietnamese and Korean women whose families do raise dogs to eat. And I've been in Manchuria and North Korea where there are dog meat restaurants. There's nothing like the site of a truck with frozen dog carcasses rolling down the highway. I refuse to eat it, but evidently I'm missing out on something.
Imperialist scum, taking our women. Well guess what, I have a white woman fetish!
A little googling shows that 된장 (deonjang - the first one) is broad bean based (though I'd never heard the term 'broad bean').
The second one is 고추장 (gochuhang), a spicy bean paste.
Both are be used in dog soup.
I didn't know what a broad bean was before I looked on the label. I assumed it was soy, too, but my girl told me no.
